"Official" 2020 Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party - Poor Unfortunate Souls (2020 MNSSHP CANCELLED)

Probably because all the special things they have for planned, fireworks, parade, special characters are all things are for crowds that cannot spread out, not even when you are at reduced capacity. I wonder if Disney suspects with this cancellation that capacity will still be down in October. They could have chosen to only have the parties in October, and cancel them for August & September.

I’m so sorry everyone! While perhaps inevitable, it is still so very disappointing to watch a planned vacation slip away - in many cases for a second or third time. Or a special first trip during the season. I can’t imagine that happening with our Halloween trip planned in October 2013. All the excitement and planning time invested...
Anticipating the same for our rescheduled Thanksgiving trip from our cancelled Spring Break trip.
I’m sorry!

I don't think it's necessarily the start date. I think it has to do with the biggest part of MNSSHP: parade, shows, fireworks, passing out candy. Those are all very crowd/interaction heavy things. With the houses at HHN, they could possibly feed people through like an attraction, but who knows. I suspect MVMCP will get canceled too, because of similar issues to MNSSHP, unless things turn around drastically.
HHN’s set up has more wiggle room for U to switch things up vs MNSSHP.

I’m thinking HHN may be very different in scope, more of your tix gets you general admission into the park type of thing. Am thinking FF & RoF may be off the table this year to control the numbers in the park. Also, think the FOTL pass might be revamped in some form as to increased pricing and more of a virtual application to avoid large numbers of people in line.

Hope for the best, expect the worst. The common cold is a coronavirus, still no vaccination for that. I know the common cold can be one of many viruses. By the time a vaccine is made available this thing could wipe out the economy of the world unless we buck up and just let nature take it's course. It's all a matter for debate I guess. You won't see the Christmas party either, or any New Year eve parties. If Disney has enough money to keep maintenance up on all their properties and parks they will survive this because we will support them. It's just a matter of time really.
Not sure if you are debating the course of the CV infection or the likelihood of WDW’s upcoming parties/events happening. Not even Madame Leota’s crystal ball can accurately predict either. Nothing wrong with being cautiously optimistic as long as we heed the advice of the real experts, the scientists & apply the suggested strategies as best fits into our daily lives.

Well this was the final tipping point for us to cancel our 2020 trip. It’s just not worth it.

Sad, but everyone has to be realistic and set their own comfort level, there is no right or wrong in cancelling a vacation.

I get why people who have a planned a bucket list or annual trip have tossed in the towel, sad to think of the kids involved.

Have cancelled a two week Easter trip already. Our August is still scheduled, followed by Sept/Oct, then Nov/Dec.

As DVC, we had to cancel initial resort for August trip to be able to bank our points to preserve them going forward. Glad I did rebook a Value thru CRO before they shut down new reservations. Airfare thru SWA is bankable at lest.

No standby CRO reservations booked for the other two trips. In hindsight wish I would’ve made them a month ago to be able to more comfortably hang in there longer. I’d need to cancel the fall trip by the end of July or lose those points. The next trip by the end of Oct/early Nov, have more wiggle room there while we sit and watch things play out.

Same here. I guess we will be taking a couple long weekend camping trips. The question for us will be what to do for 2021 with our DVC.

I'm sad, but not surprised to hear about the cancellations. I was shocked when it appeared that they might still go on, given that nearly all of the special activities involved would be hampered or cancelled due to social distancing. :( Unfortunately for my family, late summer was the perfect time for us to go in 2020, but won't work at all for us in 2021, so we'll be missing Halloween entirely on our next trip.

Next thing you know Disney (and other parks and places) will ban you from entering in you have a simple common cold.

Sad news that really brings home how bad things could be. I trust Disney to know when it's safe to go, but wish they could have come up with something creative instead of canceling. Hopefully things will be better by the time Villains-time day arrives. While it's not the same as MNSSHP, it's something for us spooky fans to enjoy. :maleficen

This is hard news to take. Leaning heavily towards cancelling. This is supposed to be my 4 and 6 year’s old first WDW trip.

If it helps, we pulled the plug on our trip. It was going to be a first for a 6 y.o. and 1.5 y.o. We decided to wait until things are at some semblance of normal.

Sad but not terribly surprised. The title of this thread is rather prophetic - “Poor unfortunate souls” is correct. I just wish they hadn’t left the party times on the schedule. Oh well. Thinking about next year!

Please keep us updated on your progress. I'm in a similar situation and my plan is to start with Disney by phone and email UT. 🤞

I emailed undercover tourist and they replied I can get 100% refund. I had to cut my tickets in half and photograph them with numbers visible on top of the paper they sent them to me on and email the photo with my order number in the subject line. They said it could take 4-6 weeks for refund which I expected.

This is the message I received from UT today, I reached out to them last night regarding the process. Basically they want me to send the unused cards back to them for a refund.

Does anyone know if Disney is allowing people to add a day to their tickets if their party tickets were cancelled? (I’m assuming they are not.) We we’re using our party tickets as one of our park days....
