Let’s Talk Mask Designs and Styles!

Yikes...my grandpa was going to buy me masks from the Disney site...maybe I’ll wait.
At least wait for some reviews to come in first -- I know people are starting to receive them now. Some reviews have been very positive. But that one comment about the strong smell just made me wonder.
ETA: Current reviews in other threads agree that the masks are running small. No one else has mentioned the strong smell. And there is a large label inside that needs to be cut out.

Not good to hear that they are running small. I ordered the medium sizes for the wife and I as I was going by their measurements on the website, however, we were on the larger end of the medium sizes but thought they would be OK. I’ll be disappointed to have $50 worth of masks (2 sets) that will be too small and unable to return.

Well, I've also read a few reviews that said the masks run large, so go figure. People don't usually give context with their size reviews. But more people have complained that the current batch of masks is running small. The good news is that the masks are starting to be sold at stores -- at least at DS, so hopefully soon at DTD and maybe at Disney Stores in malls? -- so people should be able to compare sizes in person.

Re: The Disney Store Masks
For those who receive the Disney masks and have sizing issues, this post from a thread in the Community forum on the Just for Fun Board is helpful:
Got ours and they were way too small. It says no returns but they're refunding my money because they know there's an issue. They told me I didn't have to send them back.

I got my large mickey masks today, they are all pretty good theres one that seems tighter around the ears. but overall i think they are pretty good, except for the tags on the inside. Everyone should order large xcept for children

I wish I'd known that before I ordered! Ordered a mask through a different company and it's way too big for me. Thought a medium was a safe bet this time since I'm on the small side.

Anyone try something like this? I was debating something like this for my kids in the heat...

I just ordered a cheaper type that's due to arrive tomorrow. I'll let you know how it works, as we're currently in a heat wave and it's supposed to be 109! But the one I ordered doesn't specifically say it cools when you get it wet and it's not made of "performance" fabric so we'll see. I imagine the one you linked is better quality; the one I'm getting is just something off of Amazon that looked kind of tiki-ish but now I'm wondering if getting it wet like the one in your link recommends would help keep you cool anyway. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07THTKLX9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I'm also very tempted to get this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B086R3JRM7/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_2?smid=A1UXWD73LZ0JWI&psc=1 and/or this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087B7WVCG/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A2JRZWJAZ9ET7T&psc=1 but I'm waiting to see how the first one works out for me.

I made 3 seperate orders on the same day / April 30th. I have received 2 partial orders. I ordered for 12 family members (2 sets each) as gifts for them. They are sooo inconsistent in sizing. Very disappointed. The earloops are not all the same size in each individual set. The mask themselves are lopsided in measurements. Size small is very, very tiny. Won't fit my just turned 3 yr old. The other sizes are not consistent within each set. The structure of the masks do not look like the picture on Shop Disney. Cute fabric, but that's the only nice thing about them ..... the inconsistency of the cut / measurements is not good. The quality control for these seem to not have been there at all. I think a no refund / no return policy shouldn't apply if items are defective. Disappointed...............

Hopefully others here have better luck with their orders.

It's so odd. There is a video on another thread about the Disney masks which shows a CM at Disney Springs holding up masks as size examples. Those masks don't look too small at all. And the vlogger who bought a large mask was happy with his purchase -- it looked like it fit fine. And some posters (a few) have said that their masks fit fine. Hmmm... There must be an issue with quality control at a certain factory or with specific shipments?
ETA: A tip from a post on another board is to "break" or stretch out the elastic ear loops -- it can give you an extra inch in mask size.

The moana masks are super cute! I found the same brand, but a smaller gaiter at my local home depot. And it's cheaper too!

I think I am going to try these out for my kids as a mask and if they don't work, it will work well as a cooling gaiter.

Ok I think I will hold off on ordering the Disney masks. Hopefully DTD will sell them like Disney springs so I can see in person the sizing. People on Facebook as well as Gothic Rosie are also reporting inconsistent sizing.

Thanks for the updates!

We got our size small masks for the toddler and they fit her pretty well, even with her large head. I'm glad I got Large for both H and I, but haven't even received notice of shipping on them.

well sorry to report one of the minnie masks i gave to my mom to wear the stiching on the front of the mask just tore apart she hadnt had it on for more than 5 minutes. The other masks and the mickey one i started to wear today seem fine, i did wash them before use. My mom said its no big deal to stich back but it is dissappointing cuz it was the red minnie one and the cutest one of the bunch.

Please call ShopDisney customer service to let them know about this. It really is important for them to know the extent of this quality control (or lack thereof) problem. People in other threads have received refunds or replacement masks (the ship date is later this summer).

Good to know - I ordered mine the first day they were available and I'm still waiting for mine.

On a side note I bought the ones from Old Navy and They are good in a pinch but don't like that they don't have an insert for filter and they say 3 ply but aren't. I also bought the one's from Levi's that tie in the back and I like them but they won't be good for the heat. I've found the surgical masks are best for heat.
