Been to the movies post Covid?

No. I am very glad theaters are open for those who wish to go--it keeps more people employed and more businesses running. I am just not comfortable going right now.

I'd feel safe given how empty they've been, but what is even out?
Apparently my local Cinemark is open, I have no plans to go. It is showing Tenet, The Broken Hearts Gallery(?), The New Mutants(?), Unhinged, new David Copperfield movie, Black Panther, and How to Train Your Dragon.

A few years ago they upgraded the seats to all recliners, so there are many fewer seats in the theaters, and it says they are blocking seats next to your party, and have MERV filters in their air systems, but I still have no desire to go. We aren't dining indoors anywhere either yet.

Nope. They are open but I have no desire to risk it. I refuse to eat out at a restaurant right now too. My bank account has been quite happy about my paranoia 🤣

Those are 2 things that I'm in no hurry to do: go to a theater or an eat-in restaurant.
follow that that with get on an airplane.
I can, and will live w/o those for the time being

Yes, our theaters opened a few weeks ago and we saw Tenet, Unhinged and a re-release of Inception. Tenet and Inception, we were the only ones in our theater. For Unhinged, there were 2 other people. No lines at the snack bar lol. It felt SO GOOD to have movie theater popcorn again :worship:and I loved that it was empty.

The rule in our theater was masks on in most shared areas, but not once you got to your seat, also you had to sit with social distancing. Since we were the only ones there we all sat together anyway lol.

I won't go until they have better seating arrangements, only having two seats blocked out for "social distancing purposes" doesn't seem good enough for me. Even though theaters require people to wear masks at all times (unless they are eating or drinking) i know that the majority of people in my area don't follow that rule well. Not worth the risk even though I miss going to the movies I don't trust other people to be thoughtful of others. Luckily there is a drive in theater I can go to that is going to start to show new movies so I may go that route instead.

We went. It was almost empty. We saw the cheap rerun instead of the full cost new movie. Bought candy and popcorn because the candy I smuggled wasn’t a crowd pleaser. :confused3

Hard pass for now because it’s most likely that theater goers will be without a mask and munching on snacks for the entire duration of a movie, and I highly doubt the minimum wage employees will be adequately sanitizing the room/seats between showings.

I haven’t needed to fly on a plane since, but I would feel safer being in a plane than a theater.

ETA: Our theaters are not open yet, but above opinion assuming they were open near me.

Not yet open in Oregon. My DH is dying to go again, and is super disappointed in some of the films he wanted to see being delayed. I think I will get lots of date nights as things start back up, but it will be a while before we are ready to risk things. Restaurants are open again here, but we still only do curb side pick-up.

We've been to the movies once about a month ago. I felt okay being there, mostly because they have a two seat separation between parties and there is a half wall in-between rows (reserved recliner seating). However, there were some people not wearing masks in the lobby who the employees didn't say anything to. I don't like going into businesses who don't enforce their own policies of mask wearing. I do feel bad for the employees who get yelled at by the plague faces (antimaskers) though and understand the hesitation to say anything.

I really don't see how those MERV filters will really help very much. Sure, the air coming right out of the filter may have been filtered. But, if an infected person is standing/sitting right in front of an air vent, without a mask on and talking up a storm, he's just infected the air that will be pushed forward beyond him. Since indoor air doesn't dissipate the way the wind disperses it naturally outdoors, a person several feet in front of him, also without a mask, could potentially breathe in his air. We still don't know how much COVID it takes to infect a person. I saw a quick news report last week that said COVID is on the rise in people who've reported eating indoors at restaurants. :headache:

Add in the rake/angle of movie theatre seats. COVID is spread through vapor droplets. The majority of the biggest/heaviest droplets fall to the ground about 6-ish ft in front of a person, when there is no moving air. The smaller, fine droplets can still move with a breeze or draft, yet will still fall downward. I would think, someone sitting a few rows forward and lower from a few people with COVID, who are munching on their popcorn throughout the whole movie, could possibly have the lighter COVID droplets rain down on him, as he is sitting forward & lower. Especially if the air vents are behind all of them, pushing the air directly forward and downward. There is no MERV air filtering going on between those people.

Yes, and those minimum wage employees are supposed to monitor and make patrons put on their mask after a period of time, so they don't sit through a whole two hour movie eating one popcorn kernel at a time, to try to get out of wearing a mask when not eating. Soooo NOT going to happen. Pre-pandemic, they didn't remove people talking LOUDLY throughout a movie when people complained, or those who sit with a baby crying throughout the whole movie. They won't do anything about those who won't wear masks. Especially if someone may go ballistic on them. :duck: They might motion to a person to pull up their mask, for those that truly forget. But, if a person doesn't comply, I don't think they will enforce it.
