***Official March 2021 Thread***

I don’t think they are increasing capacity (although I think they eventually will and won’t make an announcement about it when they do). I think that the yellow dates in March and April were given some park reservation availability from the AP bucket. I think that because the AP availability was all green for those months before the resort guest and theme park ticket buckets went back to green. I also think they weren’t given many reservation spots because the second week in April is yellow again so the HS days they added are gone for the same time period as they were before they added to that week. They didn’t stick around long for that week.

Got you both added to the list. If I missed anyone else, let me know. Now off to read some of the other replies I've missed.
I'm not sure what added to the list mean, but I joined this thread yesterday!

Our schools’ break is the week before Easter, but we’re going during the week of my niece’s spring break which is the 15-19th. The other schools in their state don’t have break until late April. Breaks seem more scattered this year than other years, but maybe I’m just paying more attention.

Also, when you do all start packing? We leave three weeks from tomorrow and I’m considering starting to leave a bag out to throw things in as I think of them or know I won’t need them in the meantime.
We usually pack the night before a trip unless it requires a lot of specialty items.

It's the list on the first page of this thread with peoples dates they are going (in case anyone wants to do a meet up with fellow Disers). I knew I had seen more than just two people join. I have you added now.

We’re going to MK on a Monday AND to HS on a Sunday...which seems to be the busiest park these days. But I’m not too worried about it either! Ha!
We're doing HS Sunday too on the theory that it is going to be busy every day so might as well do it on a weekend. For MK on a Monday I never really thought about it, but it checks out. I was originally planning MK on a Monday but when I went to make dining reservations, absolutely everything was booked at MK on Monday, but I could get CRT on Tuesday. So I switched days and am doing it Tuesday.

Missouri here. My kids school just has a 4 day weekend March 12-18. The school in the next town has a full week March 22-26
We are in Missouri too and have the 22-26 week off, so that's when we're going. Two of my kids' classmates are also going that week with their families. Going to be a busy week I think--eek!

That's what I was thinking. When we added one person I figured they would put us at a 4-top anyway, but now... Ugh, I just really don't want to sit on the phone all that time. But, I'm iced in. What else do I have to do?? LOL

Calling on the phone won't help, unfortunately, since the phone people can't increase your party size unless a table is open for that party size, and it sounds like you've looked and there is isn't. At this point, you are best off cancelling all of your reservations and starting from scratch to eitehr find new places or try to find tables that open up as people cancel--hate to say it but it's true. Disney does not pull up extra chairs to squeeze people in--that was always the case pre-covid but it's even harder now because they have so few tables and can't push tables together or seat someone at the edge of a booth without ruining the 6 foot spacing between tables. It's also all mobile check in now, so you don't really get an opportunity to ask them if they can accommodate a larger party.

We're a party of 5 and have booked MANY last minute trips to WDW. Our trip last year (during covid times) was booked just 3 weeks ahead--and even though there was almost nothing available when we booked, with a combination of checking the app/website multiple times daily and using online reservation finder tools we were able to get almost everything we wanted. People cancel all the time, especially a day or two before to avoid the same-day cancellation penalty.

You guys have inspired me to order my last couple items off Amazon and start a bag!

there are water refill stations in the parks right? I know many places roped them off during COVID—wasn’t sure about WDW.
Yes, but the water stations are kind of few and far between. We found the most efficient option was to pop into a quick service restaurant and pick up cups of ice water from them. They are free and they sometimes just have them set out for a tray for everyone to grab, and if not, if you ask the attendant at the "pick up food" counter they'll bring you ice waters.

I agree, I think they are just moving inventory around between park pass buckets. Several AP types are blacked out the weeks around easter, so I expect they were finding there weren't a ton of APs visiting versus a lot of off site and onsite guests with non-AP tickets.

I wish I could pack the night before. But with 5 kids, that would be just about impossible. Unless I was okay with forgetting multiple items! 😆

Yeah I start gathering things way earlier than the night before. I am a list maker so have my list started and a few things added to my suitcase already. Things I won't need before the trip.

That makes sense. I was going to move one of my HS days if I couldn’t get Sci Fi. But we got it on the day I was planning to eat there. We also got CRT on Monday, but only 2 of us going to that ADR. It might have been much harder to get one for our group of 10.

It looks like we’re going to be there the same week. I’m hoping it’s not too busy, but I’m not overly concerned. It will be our first time since the pandemic began, so I’m expecting it to be different anyway.

Haha, your post really cracked me up because I do pack the night before (sometimes the day of) and ALWAYS forget something. Have racked up such a crazy bill over the years in Disney resort gift shop purchases--usually something small like shaving cream or sunscreen, but we've also had to get some Disney-themed pajamas and swim shirts! I just am always so busy with work the week leading up to a trip it always ends up being a last minute scramble.

Last trip, I delegated packing the kids' clothes to my DH. That was.... interesting. (Who packs three pairs of undies for each kid, one of whom is potty training, for 9-day stay????? And one pair of socks per kid. "They can reuse them," he said! I spent half the trip in the hotel laundry room!)

Where at in Mo?
We're in the St. Louis suburbs, but my husband's family is all in Franklin country so we spend a fair amount of time there too.

It might have been mentioned here already, but once park hours change, how long does it take for new ADRs to start popping up? Or does that possibly happen before the hour change? We are looking for end of the night dinners.

Really not any consistent release time. For our trip beginning on 3/20, they have not extended park hours yet but they already started releasing reservations at some (not all) in-park restaurants an hour after the current posted closing time. Other people have reported the restaurant reservations showed up days or even over a week after the park hours were extended. Best option I think is to either do a daily check in the app, or set a reservation finder alert (I like the touring plans one but there are others out there).

We leave in 3 weeks as well. I started looking through some things last weekend trying to figure out what we needed so I will probably pull suitcases out and start to at least get things into the spare bedroom this weekend. I ordered some clothes for everyone so hopefully it all fits when it comes in. Assuming it does, then I can really get the packing going.

I'm near Jefferson City.

When they changed for the week of March 1st, the announcement was made of new hours on Feb 5th - and it was early on the 16th when new dining slots were opened.

This can be different, I'm sure, but I was watching ADRs like a hawk since I didn't decide to go on this trip until with only 3 1/2 weeks notice.

Hey Midwesterner neighbors! I'm in Iowa. :wave2:
My kids have off for SB 3/12-3/19. (We go 3/14-3/21)

I wont pack until the day before. Last year I just felt off about our trip and hadn't packed at all when Disney announced the closing. (We were to fly the next day) My poor DD25 had all her bags packed, so had to unpack.

Still haven't told my crew about snagging a TPV @ BLT finally with an AP discount. 🤫 They'll be so surprised. So excited to see the castle every night before going to sleep, and every morning when we wake up. 😍🥳🎂🎈🎉

I usually start really early just because I get so excited. Last time I had our bags completely packed and 3-4 days before we were scheduled to fly out the parks closed. Unpacking was soooo sad! We have been snowbound all week with everyone working/schooling remotely and I've been begging my husband to get the luggage down so I can start packing. 27 days to go!!!

Seems like this was addressed in the recent investor's call. If I remember correctly, they won't be increasing capacity until the vaccination rate increases - like they had to maintain a certain ratio of capacity to vaccines.

Born and raised in Wildwood. Lafayette High School :)

My daughter and I are going on a girl's only trip March 21-25, staying at the Contemporary. It's our first March trip and first time at the Contemporary, although both of us have been to WDW many times.

My daughter is a 9th grade English teacher and she is getting her Master's degree. I have been caring for my 93 year old dad with dementia while also working full time building online high school courses.

We are heading to WDW during our Spring Break to have fun and forget about life for a few days!
