Hope you had a great 4th July. It was a wee bit warm and muggy here and we walked a mile and a bit uphill to a local pub/restaurant for late lunch and drinks of meh quality at high prices. Told the boys we were basically in training for our next Disney trip Who the heck knows when that will be!!!
I’ve loved hearing about your trip so I hope the computer issues resolve themselves soon so you can tell us more. I think I’d definitely consider a split stay for August just to get the spotlessly clean room. I looked at some pricing for 2022 just in case we might actually get to leave the country and travel and boy was I glad I was sitting down
It’s crazy scary prices and half the restaurants/experiences still not available though I’d be hopeful they would be by then . Not sure it will happen but I can dream ( and plan, and hope ).

Our weather is very hot and muggy right now! Tonight it is changing and tomorrow will be in the 60s, crazy, it will be almost 35 degrees colder tomorrow. We live by Lake Superior and usually don’t get really hot and humid. I can’t wait to open windows tomorrow.
Drinks at Disney are so expensive. Wow! $15.00 for a margarita yikes!
I am seriously considering doing a split stay in August. I need to run it by Andi. I think it maybe the best route. Wow, I can’t believe Disney’s housekeeping is so minimal now, ugh! They should give a discount for that. Geesh we have to clean our own $500.00 a night room now!

Singing in the Rain
4/25/21
Today was DHS day, Andi woke up just in time to use her fast fingers and get us boarding group 14! Yay, we were excited!
We went to the bus area around 7:35. We had a self appointed bus patrol this morning. He was telling us all where to stand for the bus. He was very protective of a family who had arrived before Andi and I. He was making sure we didn’t cut in front of them. The bus arrived at 7:45 and once we arrived at DHS, we had to line up and wait for the temperature check area to open. Our bus patrol was still trying to direct us, however a CM took over and put us in a new line. I think our bus patrol was a little upset, lol
The line seemed really long, however, once we started moving it went fast. We were through the screening and the security in less than 10 minutes. We were let in the park early, around 8:20 am.
We walked right on M&M railway and I enjoyed it a little more this time. I think it was growing on me. It is a little disjointed storyline, in my opinion. I don’t understand the Daisy part? I am not familiar with the new Mickey shorts/cartoons so that maybe why I am missing something. It is really a cute ride. We were one of the first groups on the ride.




We headed to TSL next and did an all time favorite, TSM, we were able to ride this twice.

Andi got best score in vehicle and for the hour, she was excited about that. I got my very average 120,000 points as usual. I aspire to improve my score each trip. It hasn’t happened yet. “I’m not your mother break these plates”, gets me every time. Jack loved this ride, years ago and he still talks about it. I keep telling him come with us and beat Andi’s score!


After the second ride, we got called for our boarding group.
We walked right on , the preshow and transport ship were working today, yay, love this ride so much! We had another awesome ride. It was so cool. We had a different experience since we were in the 2nd vehicle, I love the different sequences you encounter.


We didn’t stay in GE for to long after the ride. We decided to do Muppets next, love this it never gets old! In April, social distancing was still a thing and it was nice in the theater.
We used the bathrooms in this area after the show and a lady was literally blocking the entrance with her double wide stroller. She was decided this was a good spot to change a poop diaper. We had to almost climb over the stroller, just weird. People do not think sometimes.
Star Tours did not have a long line so we jumped in line for this. I do love this ride. I know it is “second class” now compared to the rides in GE but I enjoy it. C3PO is one of my all time favorites. I’m a bit neurotic like him. Once we saved the Galaxy again! We went to get in line for Baseline Tap House.

I went inside to get the drinks and appetizers and Andi got us a table with an umbrella. This place is popular, it filled up fast and it was only 10:45 am. We ordered the pretzel and charcuterie tray.



For drinks, Andi had the Ace Space Bloody Orange hard cider and I had the California Sunset.


We really enjoyed everything here. I would get the cider next time, it was very tasty and a good deal for the size of it! This was our breakfast and lunch. You have to love vacation when it is perfectly acceptable to have drinks and snacks for a late breakfast!
The weather was starting to look a little daunting. We decided to make a go before the rain hit. Well, we timed that wrong! We should have stayed for another drink and waited it out.
It poured! My feet were soaking wet! We had fun singing in the rain!


The drinks probably helped the situation. We decided to head out because ToT had an 85 minute wait and that was the one ride we had left to do.
Spoiler, we did not ride ToT in April, the wait was just way too long.
We did ride 1x in June!
We spent a relaxing afternoon at the resort. We went down to the gift shop and noticed you could now fill your mug or cup. This was new! It was nice to see this back.
The new soda fountain at Coronado is touch free. You wave your finger and it fills your pop. I got a Diet Coke, it was cool new technology. The YC didn’t have this in June, YC has the Coke freestyle machine.
Stay tuned for a very dapper evening in Epcot!

I hate when people do that. See it far too often in the grocery store. I love when people park their carts at 45 degrees so there's no chance of getting by.

I confess, I had to do this at AK one day during our April trip. AS you say, some people just don't think, so no one was using the stanchions, and it was just mayhem. I directed the first family to fill in and then everyone else followed and it got figured out. Otherwise, the "line" was blocking ALL of the other bus lines. Call me Karen.

I think it was growing on me. It is a little disjointed storyline, in my opinion. I don’t understand the Daisy part? I am not familiar with the new Mickey shorts/cartoons so that maybe why I am missing something. It is really a cute ride. We were one of the first groups on the ride.

I 100% agree. It's disjointed and doesn't flow well. I love the concept, and the trackless is fun, but the story just doesn't make sense. Cute and worth a 20 minutes wait.

We made it to Gideon’s our first night and loved the whole concept of the shop, oh yeah the cookies aren’t bad either! Yummy. We got 2 chocolate chip, 1 cookies and cream and 1 chocolate chip, pistachio toffee OMG, this one was my favorite! These lasted our entire trip. So big!

OMG! That pistachio cookie was the bomb and definitely our favorite!

Our room after 7 nights, yikes! The lack of housekeeping is just gross. This is poor service on Disney’s part. Covid-19 is no longer a valid reason to not clean a room. Disney is packing the parks and a CM coming into the room alone with a mask on is very safe! This makes my blood boil I did send an email about my concerns and the head of housekeeping at the YC did call me. I thought that was very nice, however, I would have liked a clean room instead!

I agree with you 100%! Disney is cutting costs on this one so shame on them!!!!! These resorts are expensive and Covid can no longer be a justifiable excuse. We also noticed that Disney in general was just dirtier. We even saw a HUGE mother roach in La Cava scurrying across the floor. Our server gave us free tequila shots as compensation...

The increasing of park capacity without enough CM’s, shows, entertainment, and restaurants is also a bad decision in my opinion

Disney is VERY short-staffed right now and this needs to change. The whole hospitality industry has suffered due to Covid. It's time to pay employees more and get back some of that magic.

Hello

I’m back! This trip was a whirlwind, it went by so fast. I hate when that happens.

I did not take notes for this trip so I will give you all a quick novella lol

It will be called The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly!

First the good

1. Well of course being at WDW is the best!
2. Good flights, arrived a little early and left just a tad late
3. We loved our one night at All Stars Movies, our room was in a quiet corner of the Toy Story section. We had a preferred room. We loved the theming and our room was clean and quiet. It was our first time here.
4. We made it to Gideon’s our first night and loved the whole concept of the shop, oh yeah the cookies aren’t bad either! Yummy. We got 2 chocolate chip, 1 cookies and cream and 1 chocolate chip, pistachio toffee OMG, this one was my favorite! These lasted our entire trip. So big!
5. We ate some really good food this trip. We had meals At Frontera Cocina Flower and Garden booths Yak and Yeti , Beaches and Cream , Liberty Tree Tavern , Mama Melrose , Hanger Bar ,and Ale and Compass These we’re our favorites!
6. Walk ability to Epcot was wonderful, we spent a lot of time there, eating and drinking around the world
7. We also walked to HS a couple times and loved this
8. Spent a fun day at Universal and Andi tackled the new Velocicoaster, crazy fast Rollercoaster
9. I was able to meet up with Ariane and spend time visiting with her and Steve in Epcot! I also met Samantha at Epcot! We didn’t get pictures, what the heck!
10. We got to ride all our favorite rides at each park and for all of you keeping count, we did get 4 rides on Dinosaur

Now for the Bad!

1. So busy, rope drop is just weird now, it felt busy no matter what time we went to the park.
2. I miss FP and extra magic hours
3. All our park touring experience didn’t help at all this trip.
4. A couple times the buses took forever!
5. Our cell service wasn’t the best in our room and we only got a boarding pass 1 time! So glad we got one, love this attraction.
6. We did love the Yacht Club except this time our room wasn’t as nice as before. It was also noisy. We were next to the Captain’s suite and a lot of parties going on in there. The plus was we were not far from the Market Place.
7. So. Much. Construction everywhere including the YC
8. It was August hot this week, down right steamy, sweat glistening everywhere, type of hot! It also stormed a few times and we even lost power at the YC for about an hour!

Oh no it is time for the Ugly!

OMG so gross and she would not budge, several people said excuse me loudly and she just stood her ground, ugh! In June we were waiting in a small shaded area for our Mama Melrose lunch reservation to be called and this lady pulls into this small spot with her ECV and large family and basically pushes Andi and I right out of our nice spot. So rude, she even started spraying sunscreen at us pretending to put it on her neck and back. I wanted to knock her off the ECV, lol

It makes me so sad how Disney is only thinking about the bottom line and now they don’t care that all the guests know this! Disney always went way above and beyond even while they made money, now they just Keep taking things away and charging more. If we have to pay an exorbitant price for FP now I may need to take a break from Disney!!

I agree! It is sad how this awful pandemic has touched so many areas of everything. Yes, we Need the Magic back and the wonderful feeling Disney gives us all to be there!

Thank you and glad you joined it. The housekeeping or lack there of does put a damper on a vacation. I am a nurse and I need to feel relaxed and a little pampered on my vacation and I didn’t feel that this last trip!

This is so true, read my response to stepsister about the rude lady in June, just as bad if not worse than the one in April!
We didn’t mind the rain for the first few minutes, it quickly changed to a downpour and our feet were soaked!
Baseline is on our list for August! Such a fun. Place!
I love ToT and since I am a ride chicken, I am proud of myself for riding this!

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to let you all know, I solved the housekeeping problem! We are doing a split stay x 3.

We will spend our first two nights at Riviera in a regular studio. I am so excited. I really like this resort and look forward to staying here. I love that the room has an actual queen bed for both of us. Andi doesn’t have to sleep on a pull out couch.

The next two nights will be at Beach Club Resort. Andi has never stayed in the resort before. She has stayed in the villa studio. I stayed here with Leslie and Molly on the epic trip and really liked it.

We will spend the last four night at Contemporary as planned. I’m so excited!! We will be able to use the Skyliner at Riviera, the boat and our legs at BC and the monorail and our legs at Contemporary yay!!

We are attending the Boo Bash on 8/31 and we can walk back to CR after the party.

I have ADR’s at California Grill, Ohana, Topolino, Sanaa, Jaleo, Grand Floridian Cafe, and Frontera.

We will also be spending one night at Royal Pacific at Universal at the end of the trip. I didn’t realize the night we are there is the first night of Halloween Horror Nights. I’m not thrilled about that, I’m sure the place will be crazy busy.
We got an awesome APH rate for the night.
We won’t be attending the Horror night event. We are planning to spend two nights the end of September at Portofino and we will be doing Halloween Horror nights at that time.
Exciting times!
I‘m so glad I figured out a way to beat the lack of Housekeeping at Disney! The only negative I have is packing up and taking our groceries and water to each resort! At least Disney hasn’t cut out bell service’s at this time. Thank goodness!!
