Remy's Ratatouille Adventure and Motion Sickness *SPOILERS*

My daughter texted that Remy is not similar to Cat in the Hat in any way. Regarding the motion-sickness... I'm also on a DCP parent board where many parents have said that they've received the same feedback from their CM and DCP kids. Things along the lines of "Mom, you can NOT do this ride - don't even try." I have no idea how it compares to the Paris version. My daughter's description to me was that there is spinning "around and around". She described this segment of the ride to me in detail, and just listening to it made me want to puke! I'm leaving the detail out for those that don't want ride spoilers. The fact that Remy was bad enough to make it to my daughter's "never again" list, along with about 3 other rides, is enough for me. As previously mentioned, she loves many rides that made me horribly motion-sick, and she has talked me into riding several of them, telling me I would be fine (wrong). So... if she's giving me the full-on NO WAY, then there's no way I'm even attempting Remy. And I'm perfectly okay with that. I'll never forget riding Expedition Everest (a great ride) and being sick for five hours afterward. The backward motion - brutal. I felt like I wasted half a day.

If you don’t mind, would you pm the details to me?

The Simpsons ride at Universal usually gets me sick. Rode on it twice and both times I wanted out half way through. Hoping this won’t be the case on this ride.

Yup, can't do Simpsons at Universal, or Star Tours at DHS. Both make me feel really sick.

My sister got motion sick when we rode in Paris. The only other ride that does that for her is Mission Space. She has said she will not ride when it opens in WDW because it made her feel too sick.

I’ve ridden it In Paris & haven’t felt queasy although others who I’ve been with have, I think it’s the 3D alongside real movement. I felt queasy on the Simpsons if that helps! Some people have preferred it when 3D hasn’t been working! It’s a cute ride & the music is wonderful but it’s not ground breaking - should be a great addition to the France pavilion when the hype dies down!

Ugh. I hate that almost every new ride is a roller coaster or motion ride. We don’t do either. So we’re out on Tron & Guardians. Mickey’s Railroad is fine, except for the one part with Daisy that has short jerky movements. Luckily that is short, so I can do it. I have no problem with Rise or MF. But Star Tours is a definite no. I can do Mission Space green but even then have to close my eyes near the end. I hoped to be able to do Remy, but now I’m not sure.

I wanted to quickly share that my CM daughter and her DCP boyfriend attended a CM preview of Remy yesterday. They both really enjoyed the ride, said it was very cute and fun. Unfortunately, my daughter got motion sick. My daughter is low-mid level in terms of motion sickness. She can ride most rides. She loves ROTR which has similar ride vehicles. However, Remy also has 3D glasses/visuals and a section of spinning. My daughter said that she became ill almost instantly during the spinning. I'm extremely prone to motion sickness (I got sick on ROTR and would never ride it again). My daughter told me not to even attempt to ride Remy. She doesn't plan to ride it again. (She usually takes Dramamine before riding rides that make her slightly ill, but she felt Dramamine might not be enough for Remy)

thanks for the heads up !! My equilibrium is so bad that I get dizzy if I turn my head too fast !!

I'm usually okay with roller coasters, but any kind of 3D or screen-based ride gets me. Backward motion or spinning, forget it. ROTR and MMRR made me mildly ill... I recovered within the hour. Neither were anything like Everest which put me out of commission for most of the day. Star Tours, I did not even attempt.

I've never been, but now I am definitely going to avoid the Canada show LOL.
Well they've taken it out and it's now a giant food booth so you should be fine. The old show in France actually makes me more motion sick than the one in Canada did, I think it was the old jerky film quality and lack of steady cam, even though I was sitting down I still had to take a few hours to recoup after watching it. I think I'll bring my seabands and give Remy one chance, thankfully my oldest DD that gets motion sick easy won't be with me.

We've ridden Ratatouille at DLP. I'm not a fan of thrill rides but had no problem at all with this one. Its an amazing ride!

Yikes. Thanks so much, OP. I too am done in by spinning. I was ok on ROTR, but any worse than that would not work for me. I didn't think I'd like the ride much due to it being mostly screens, but I generally am willing to try most anything once unless I hear REALLY bad feedback on motion sickness (like The Simpsons Ride at Universal). This sounds like a big old pass though. I really appreciate it- next trip to WDW I was planning on going to Epcot just to ride this as nothing else there interests me. You have saved me a park reservation/hop!

If you don't mind me asking, what are the other 3 rides on her "never again" list?

OP, thank you so much for the warning. We were planning on a trip for the passholder preview, but too many in our group do get motion sickness. I think we may just pass on it instead. I really appreciate the heads up!

Thanks for the info! The video I watched looked pretty sedate, so good to know this. But the really important thing for me is that you have to wear 3D glasses. I have lasik monovision - one eye is far sighted and the other is mid-range (think computer screen). 3D with glasses do not work for me without my prescription glasses that makes both my eyes long range and I don’t always bring them if I’m not expecting to encounter 3D.

I get motion sick pretty badly due to spinning. Add glasses and screens and I’m not feeling well. TSMM can even be pretty unenjoyable to me.

I have been on Remy at Disneyland Paris, and I remember feeling a little motion sick, but not enough to prevent me from immediately getting back on (there was no wait when we were there, luckily). It must not have been that bad!

I was sad not to be able to enjoy Remy in DLParis, as I felt sick very early on in the attraction and spent the full ride focused on ”just getting through it”. I’m assuming no chance of it being any different in Epcot. The only other attraction I suffer with is Flight of Passage.
