Anyone have the Alaskan BofA card? I just found out Alaskan Airlines is coming to Cleveland and we are planning a cruise next Sept. (with the Amex credit on RC of course). Looks like a good deal, 50K miles with $2 spend and a CP for $99. I just know virtually nothing about this airline or the CP so looking for some input if anyone has any.

When I get the employee card for the Biz Plat, those purchases will count toward MSR, correct? Just double checking as I'm laying out my spend and app'ing. So I have the Biz Plat, used my link to get P2 a $0 AF biz card, next is the employee card. Is there a minimum age for employee card?
I believe the employee purchases will count toward MSR, and that's part of my approach to reaching MSR. I can't imagine they wouldn't count. The minimum age for an employee card is 18 years old when you go to confirm the SSN, which needs to be done within 60 (from what I recall) days.

What info are you looking for? It's good if you fly them and have a use for the points. Not a keeper card for some, hard to churn as you have to have not held the personal for 2 years. Biz is churnable but can be a pain to get.

They and delta are my preferred airlines. Living near seattle one or both have a nonstop to pretty much anywhere I want to go at a time I want to leave.

Thanks, that helps! Yeah wouldn't be a keeper for me, basically want to get it to use the miles for our Alaskan Cruise next year and that's about it. Seattle is the only place they will fly from Cleveland.

Has anyone tried to buy today? I'm getting a message that "this promotion is not currently active," even though it's supposed to run until October 31.
I was looking at the comments on the Frequent miler article, and I am thinking they may be sold out. Other people who tried to buy within the last hour or so are getting the same message. Hopefully they will restock!

DH is a member of their frequent traveler program and just got an offer for 60,000 miles with 3K spend. We have only flown Alaska once, if you're not in a hurry maybe sign up to get the higher offer? CP is $99 plus fees so at least $121.

Just booked a night at a Holiday Inn and Suites on the way to Hilton Head in November for Thanksgiving. Used my IHG free night from my $49 card. Love that card for this free night! The night was ready to expire at years end, but only because of the lack of travel recently.

Also moved up the trip to Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort to Sunday leaving 6 nights later on Saturday. I was lucky to find a 1 bedroom for the first 2 nights, as those nights will only be 4 people. Then 4 additional nights in the grand villa with everyone.

And we went back and forth between flying, Amtrak and driving. Finally decided returning on Saturday made driving feasible. Did not want to be on the road Sunday after Thanksgiving. Since retiring, I've not had to worry about holiday traffic, but, the rest of the family does! Both DD's and DIL work in colleges and schools. And now grand daughter is in kindergarten. The cycle starts again.

My family (me, DH and our 2 DS ages 16 and 18) are doing a Tauck Bridges tour to Switzerland, Austria and Germany next summer. We’ve got some blocks of time where we are on our own, and I’d love suggestions on restaurants and/or things to do that would appeal to teen boys. Our free times are:

Lucerne, Switzerland (our tour starts here, and we’ll be here two days before the tour starts)

St. Moritz, Switzerland (we have an evening, including dinner, on our own)

Innsbruck, Austria (lunch and afternoon on our own)

Salzburg, Austria (spending a full day and night here on our own at the end of the tour)

Thanks for any recommendations!

This is probably old news but just in case....for those who love the Office Depot “buy $300+ in VGC and get $15 off” deals - I’d never really paid attention to which VGCs I picked, but recently I got the Five Back VGCs, where you get a 5% credit back at certain stores. You can see the whole list at fivebackgift.com, but they’ve got Royal Caribbean, the Gap family of brands (Athleta, Old Navy, Banana Republic, etc), Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, a bunch of restaurants and lots more. I happened to need some things from Pottery Barn and sure enough the 5% got credit back to the GC the next day.

I checked my Hawaii Hyatt hotel choices for next September and both have decreased for points needed. To book both resorts (Grand Hyatt Kaui and Wailea Beach Villas) I'll need 329K points. I have them, but in URs so they'll need to be transferred. Do I go ahead and make the leap and use them for the reservations? I'd like to think this trip will really happen but it's a year out and life can happen. Can I reserve it on a deposit and then switch to use my points later?

I know this is silly. I've hoarded all of my URs for this purpose and now actually using them is giving me hives 🤪 I guess even if I have 329K Hyatt points if we need to cancel we'll just travel to other places or use them when the trip eventually does happen.

If you're Globalist, you can do a points advance booking. You'll need the points in your account at least 7 days before the reservation.

I guess a small potential risk with that is if Chase stops Hyatt transfers or changes the transfer rate (knock on wood!).

Love that you are doing this over Thanksgiving. It would be my dream to be in a grand villa over Thanksgiving. You are so generous; I'm sure your family appreciates it.

If I was a pug where would I hide an AirPods case?!? They are MIA thanks to Puggles and DS and I have searched the entire 1st floor (that is the only floor he is allowed on). I found the Mickey cover but not the important part. Grrrr…
Um…did he eat it? 😢😬

Did you look under everything? Furniture, dog bed etc? His toy box or other open things he could drop it in or in shoes?

Dude's never hidden stuff, he just leaves it in the open destroyed. Thabkfully it's been years since he's done it.

Oh, hey, something I wanted to share from our trip to Disney. We did the Lightening Lane for Remy's. It was ridiculously easy to just hit that button and be done. It could be way too addictive. Seems like this is demand based pricing. Paid $11 pp. So for $44, I was happy not to screw around with being in the park at exactly 1pm, etc, etc. The next afternoon I saw it was available for $9 pp. What was nice about the LL was that we could easily coordinate with our dinner times, so we selected a 5-6 pm window for Remy and then headed over to dinner at Hacienda after that.

But we also got into the afternoon virtual queue, so there's hope for those who don't wish to expedite things. By the time our queue boarded, we were headed to the airport though, so we didn't get a second ride in.

I used a Chase offer for Best Buy and also for Michaels on Sunday to pick up two Disney GCs. I just got my statement and was reconciling when I realized that both charges are no where to be found for that card. I got the alert that the charges were made and already transferred the money to my main GC. Neither charge is pending either. This is so weird and has never happened to me before. Not sure what is going on.

I am Globalist but when I chatted with Hyatt I was told I was only allowed to advance 1000 points or a minimal amount. I would need to essentially have all of the points to make the reservation. 😕

Interesting. I just booked 2 nights at the PH and was 56k short without any problem.

It let you advance all the way to booking or did you have to talk with someone? I get a pop up when I attempt to book that says I am unable to proceed with the reservation because I do not have enough points.
