PHOTOS: Why Disney Won An Award for Trash

At Disneyland near Galactic Grill in Tomorrowland, you can spot a food waste can! This might seem like your average garbage can, but the food waste thrown into this can is turned into farm nutrients that can be used for local agriculture. These cans, along with a number of other initiatives, earned Disneyland the 2021 SEAL Business Sustainability Award!

I hope this is allowed, but I just scored the double flip Mickey waffle maker from WilliamsSonoma for $55 vs the $80 on ShopDisney. I don't think it is the "90th anniversary" one but it is a double flip and makes 3 mini waffles on each side. I bought the Golden waffle mix from Golden Malted direct a few days ago but they have it on WS also.

I canceled my shopdisney waffle maker order because it has been "in progress" for several days and then this deal from WilliamsSonoma popped up here on the dis. Saved myself $ (thanks cookies)

This is perfect for the Shopping thread! @cellomom already quoted your post there! Thanks for the heads up!

IT IS CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR'S HOLIDAY. I would not expect anything less than jam packed parks. I have never understood why this surprises people.
You don't understand why ppl. would be surprised and disappointed that Disney can't/don't keep their rides maintained enough to ensure that rides are actually up and running almost always and that downtime would be limited and out of the ordinary? Seems pretty reasonable to me.

That seems to be a large part of the issue, sure it's crowded, which is to be expected, but crowded and multiple rides being down for an extended time is a totally different beast.

I don’t know why the rides went down. I do know this time of year is more crowded than usual.
I dont know why you quoted me,
I did not mention disappointed people or the rides being down.
have I been disappointed at Disney. Yes.
have I gone when it is extremely crowded? Yep!

Yeah, HS really relies on those shows. I know Indy is finally back, but the Little Mermaid remains closed, plus the nightly people-vacuum that is Fantasmic! They really need that stuff back.

Disney, as a whole, needs to do something !! Here now, and posted this on another thread--- just back from SeaWorld, and not for anything, but Disney needs to start duplicating some of the things that they do. Every year when we come at this time, SW ends up being our favorite day--- its really magical for the holidays--- the lights... the music. The shows. We were at Epcot they other night (thats another story--- look awful), and other than CP, it doesnt even look like holiday season. The holiday merch this year is totally lacking. Tonight, we went to Dine w Santa at SeaWorld-- (used to be the Fireside Feast, and more recently, dinner with Rudolph and friends--- Buffet dinner... AYCTE--- for the three of us, I paid less than $100 w/ tax (2 adults, 1 child) --- photo OP at the end with Santa. How much would something like this cost at Disney? The character photo ops (Rudolph characters) are great--- the kiosks are great-- very diverse. The "sea of trees.." The music playing thru out the park- Sorry if this comes across as shilling for SW--- been going to DW 3-4 a year since 1994--- but they are seriously lacking right now. Was talking with my daughter about this today- Never seen so many people leaving the parks so early- and they are not going back that day --- we hear talking about just hanging by the pool and food court. Went to AK yesterday--- the park is so beautiful--- give people a reason to stay-- a nighttime parade? Something with the tree of life? Sunset safari back? Something. Ok, off soapbox...

I quoted you because you said you weren't surprised by the article. I assumed that meant you read the article which was about how many rides at DHS had been down for extended times that day which made for a pretty frustrating time for an already busy time of year. You said you didn't understand why ppl. would be surprised by that. I think it's reasonable to assume as a paying guest that a business would keep maintenance updated as much as possible to ensure ride breakdowns were rare and multiple long term breaksowns were next to non-existent. I was confused as to you stating you didn't understand why ppl wouldn't have expected that scenario.

Due to the figures in France (over 200K new infections yesterday, which was a record for the country & Europe), the New Years Eve party in Disneyland Paris is now fully cancelled. It was scaled back already, but now there will only be fireworks around 18:00.

As of 3 Jan.
The Christmas Parade no longer has a stop at the Hub and at Mains Street Plaza.
Fireworks will be cancelled again for the time being.
The Frozen Celebration show will turn back into a selfie spot with Kristoff & Sven and Anna & Elsa.
