Have You Ever Gotten Sick From a Disney Restaurant?

My dad got food poisoning from a Columbia Harbor House tuna sandwich. Spent two nights at Celebration Hospital. Can't bring myself to eat there again which is too bad because I really liked it.

O'Hana this past November 2021 party of four adults. We will never eat there again. We pretty much stopped at the entrees as they were inedible, so most of the food was not consumed.
We had the same experience first week of Nov (we didn’t get sick but meats were inedible). Maybe it was the shrimp? We did eat it and not get sick but it wasn’t grilled with a char like they used to.

Exactly. Eating something and getting sick immediately probably means that you are getting sick from the previous meal. Heat stroke will make you vomit. Lots of other reasons. But I do agree with those who say they never ate again at the place they think they got sick. The association is sometimes terrible.
This is true. I got food poisoning this past summer, and I didn't "get sick" until my next meal. I know it was that place because they had to shut down like a day later do a massive health code issue, and the meal I ate immediately before was some waffles we made at home. Everyone else had felt crummy after eating out but I was the only one to become so violently ill.

Hollywood and Vine when it was a buffet. I was the only one in our party to eat seafood. Became sick in the night and all the next day.

My first incident was Narcoossee’s and we went there for our Anniversary dinner. I had the seafood with the tomato based sauce and spent the rest of the night tossing my cookies and praying for God to please take me because what was happening to me at once should be illegal😂 It’s funny now but it was a nightmare at the time.

Second incident was Kat Cora’s!!! You would have thought I’d learned to stay away from the seafood dish with the tomato based sauce…. Nope! Happened again! This time I know I know for sure that some of the seafood was undercooked and made sure to point it out to the waitress and management. I had asked for all the ingredients to be fully cooked and they did not. I paid for it the rest of the night.

Probably would have had the same thing happen at Beaches and Cream but I always cut my burgers before biting in. The burger was still mooing y’all when I cut it open. The outside layer was nice and brown! I was able to save myself that time!! They brought me out a new, well cooked burger and onion rings since my old ones were now cold.

Never went back to any one them!

I have gotten diarrhea from eating at Garden Grill twice in Epcot’s Land. I also got diarrhea after eating breakfast at Hard Rock Hotel’s The Kitchen near Universal.

It was many years ago when our youngest son was 3 years. We ate in Epcot at the China CS, only my son and I ate the fried rice - within 15 min. both of us got violently ill throwing up and diarrhea. It was not a fun time, but we never reported it as we had left the area and couldn't prove it. Thankfully, that was our only bad experience after going to WDW and eating in their restaurants from 1972 - 2019.

The Edison. Last fall. I'm not sure if it was the hanging bacon or the prime rib. My stomach was started rumbling a little on the walk back our room at Saratoga (glad we were staying there). When I got to our room, my body started turning inside out. Fortunately, it was a quick rejection, and I felt better about 15 minutes later.

That is how I judge if it's food poisoning or not. Do I ask God to let me die now so the torture will end? People say "I think I had food poisoning..." Respectfully no. Food positioning is not a slight upset stomach or a little diarrhea. It's stuff coming out both ends for hours and you can't even keep water down.

Thankfully never been sick from the food at Disney, but have had mild heat stroke and dehydration that led to nausea.

Thank heavens no one in my family has received a food born illness and we’ve eaten all over “the world”. I’d say if anything on those super hot August days we’ve felt icky after eating. But that goes without saying

Twice , five years apart at Liberty Tree. Won't go back there ever. I know at least one time it was the pot roast, probably both times.
Same for me. LTT was one of my favorite restaurants. I was miserable and haven't set one foot inside since.

Thank you for the perfect description of food poisoning. Yep, my DM suffered a nasty attack a few years ago after eating at Captain Cook’s. I can’t recall what she ate, but I do remember the next 24 hours or so. We even had the Reedy Creek paramedics come to take a look at her as she had a couple o health issues that could be worsened by the attack. Yep, it was horrible and mousekeeping at the GF went above and beyond the call of duty that day!

If you mix some psyllium husk in something cold like yogurt (warm/hot does the opposite), it helps thicken stools a bit (won’t stop completely but that is what you want-clear the bacteria out of your system). I always carry some psyllium husk and some edible grade clay (used externally for heat rash; hives, bug bites, snake bites? etc).

The problem with the quick food poisonings is that it comes on very fast and once you expel it, you are fine. There is no time to take anything. At least that has been my experience with food poisoning. That is how you know that is not some "bug" and is actual food poisoning. I have a pretty fast metabolism, so maybe my experiences have been different. But the whole thing lasts no more then a half an hour for me. It is a miserable half an hour, but at least I know that once it all comes out, I feel better.

That sounds like a food intolerance, not food poisoning. True food poisoning usually lasts 24-48 hours and is caused by a bug or a toxin from a bug.

I get sick every trip, but its not food poisoning. I eat a lot of fried "park" foods, that in my every day life I don't!! My stomach just doesn't handle it well.

Wouldn't you think that if someone was unable to tolerate a certain food, that they would get sick every time that they eat it? Not just a one off experience? There are many types of microbe bacteria that can make a person sick, aka food poisoning. I don't understand why so many of you keep denying that fact. And yes, there are bacteria that brings on illness much quicker then 24 hours. A quick Google search will show you this. Please stop perpetuating the lie that food poisoning can not come on quickly and be done quickly. You do realize that they say "average" for a reason. Some people have worse immune systems or metabolisms so they are likely to suffer longer. There is a quick side the average also. I really don't understand why people like you keep saying that over and over when it is obviously not true. Your mentality is exactly why people, especially woman, have their medical issues dismissed. You want to paint everyone with the same brush when we know that everyone's body works differently.
