Anyone able to sneak a peak at BCV’s?

in my minds eye I remember the original BCV’s rooms looking better. 🤣 In its defense, for the time, it looked good.

Can anyone comment if the Murphy bed style couch itself is more comfortable to sit on than the sleeper sofa style.
We slept on them at Pop Century and they were great. 10 inch mattress.

I’m sorry I wasn’t clear with my question. 😆 how is the actual couch part? Is the couch itself more comfortable to sit on. I always found the sleeper sofa style couch hard.

It would have been nice to at least add a place to put our phones on the other side of the bed.
When I stayed at BCV a few weeks ago, I noticed that for the first time in many stays at BCV, there were night tables on both sides of the bed. The room wasn't a newly refurbished one, but I was hoping they were planning to do that in all the studios.

Was it a studio?

it probably depends on the footprint of the square footage. In many of the rooms there isn't enough space to add the other table without modifying the layout in some other manner.

Someone on FB reported that only 4th floor is currently closed and being worked on. If we hope they are on track then we should hopefully see this floor finished SOON and another floor taken offline.

Not sure that this really qualifies as rich theming. It's 1990s style hotel decor in beachy colors, with a seahorse and generic artwork. Nothing I want to see return.

Seriously. I've stayed at so many actual beach resorts that haven't been updated that look like this. Worth it when you get a reduced view of the actual Ocean, you know? And I can literally smell the mildew just looking at this photo.

Those have a seriously cheesy 70's Central California Big Sur/Monterey/Santa Cruz motel vibe going.

I have used them at SSR, I would say they are very similar to what was there before for the couch cushions. The mattress is 1,000 times better than the old sofa beds.

I did some basic mathing.

There are 282 rooms at the BCV broken out per floor as below:

1- 52

2 - 63

3 - 66

4 - 66

5 - 35

They stated the refurb would be Jan 7 through early April. To be generous to Disney I calculated through April for a total of 113 days for the length of the refurb.

We are currently 33 days into the refurb which is just shy of a 1/3 of the way through. 1/3 of the rooms would be 94 which is a little less than 5th & 4th floor combined. So I would hope that within the next weekish we see 4th floor finished and open for guests and 3rd floor go down for refurbishment if they are on track to finish. Keep in mind this is my very basic/estimated/general math/quick observations and does not take into consideration actual square feet/different room configurations or common spaces like hallways, but I will be watching to see if we start getting any new reports.

Granted still no clear reason why all the availability of Sept/Oct is gone.....

Yes-I've never had night tables on both sides of the bed before. I'm a glasses wearer, blind as can be without them, and I prefer to sleep closer to the wall side of the bed. First time I had someplace close by to keep my glasses.
Just stayed in a lock-off studio (222) last week. No bedside table on the side closest to the wall/entry.

That IS strange! I was right near there, in 225. Like I think I said, it was my first time with bedside tables on both sides of the bed in about at least 15 BCV studio stays. However, it was my first time in a HA studio. That brings up the question-why do HA studios get 2 bedside tables? Other than that, the only other things different from non-HA studios were tub rails, and rails along the toilet area. Matter of face, I thought it was strange that the microwave was still up high, like a non-HA studio.

I know many people with disabilities may need access to electronic devices to help them breathe at night, or other medical supplies. That said, as long as there is one bedside table, my husband just takes that side. And usually it's the more accessible side as well.
Maybe the bed is more in the center of the room in HA studios, allowing easier accessibility from both sides, and then at that point it was possible to just add the other table for symmetry?

If anyone is at the Beach Club right now, could you send a picture of the new carpet in the hallways? I think the 5th floor has the new carpet already, and I'd like to check before my next stay there...

Not my photo, but here is the carpet in the hallways on 5th.
