More restaurants at Disneyland add alcohol

Guys, it like literally never happens where there are drunk people at Disney. If there was there would be video evidence. Oh wait.....
Not excusing these people but it's also Florida
They have different kinda travelers and guests

Disneyland is mostly local guests and while we are in the same country....there is also a reason we have the stereotype of "Florida man"

It's also partly on DIsney for not limiting drinks, with the internet you could even have it where you have to scan an ID to get a drink and if they go to another location to get more drinks stop them from buying them

@JerrodDragon89 do you know if Oga's enforces their drink limits? When we were there last week, they told us we had 45 min and a 2 drink limit.
I'm pretty sure they do

My point would be IF they get enough guests acting out, to put in place a system where they scan your ID and limit you to 2 drinks at any location that serves drinks in the parks.

I doubt anything will really change but that's just my idea if things somehow go wrong

JD that's an excellent idea. Why don't you send it to Disneyland Guest Relations? Disney certainly has the technological ability to do that these days—although I imagine there will be significant skepticism here that Disney IT would implement it accurately. 😁

We were at Oga’s last weekend. They told us very specifically 2 drinks or 45 minutes, whichever comes first.

So here's how I think the board meeting went when they were deciding on whether to allow alcohol in more restaurants.

The amount of revenue it will generate - "ca-ching, ca-ching, it will be like printing $$$$$"
What about Walt's vision? - "meh, times have changed, time to move on. we need bigger bonuses"
Wouldn't this lead to more drunk ppl? - "yea, but dont forget about your bonus"
How do we deal with the drunks? - "I guess we could hire a few more rent-a-cops, haven't really thought about it"
What about the majority of guests who don't overindulge, have families? - "they'll get over it, remember the $$$"
(oops, my bad, I forgot a few $$'s)

I know I am taking some cheap shots (no pun intended) (those shots would be not cheap at all, right) and maybe they will have a solid plan in place but I gather a lot of ppl here don't feel that way. Its kinda like another way DL is wanting to make more money without much concern for the aftermath. Just so you know I'm in sales and like to make money but in a professional, ethical way. Just because one can make more money and extract every last dime doesn't make it right.
So, as I end my thoughts? vent? or whatever you want to call it, I am off to make an Old Fashioned Knob Creek. Just like the one that I had at the Lamplight Lounge in January. Cheers

I dislike influencers as much as anyone here but this whole comment just reeks of bitterness. We are all disney adults here.
Yeah, ok. I’m so bitter. 🙄. So what, it’s my opinion and I shared it. One that happens to be shared with so many other “bitter” people.

Actually, the majority of the videos I shared were from Disneyland. The combative man in front of ToT in DCA (that is the one that can only be watched on Youtube, it was on the news at the time because of how crazy it was), the mom at DCA who left her kids unattended in the stroller while mom and dad got some booze, the girl fighting with security on her way off Disney property near the Harbor entrance, the family in the parking structure, and security escorting the guys out in front of the train station at the beginning of Main Street.

I agree that Florida has a different clientele (geez, that sounds elitist) and you will see way worse behavior there, but there are videos existing of drunks inside Disneyland before they increase accessibility. In my head, the greater accessibility to alcohol will create an environment where the behavior shown in the videos becomes more common. Maybe I'll be wrong, and I hope that I am for the sake of the family-friendly environment the park promotes.

I agree with you. I feel like the two are conflated, when they are two seperate things. If asked to define the terms:

Disney Adult-An adult who enjoys going to Disney theme parks, movies, and collects merch.

A Disney influencer- Someone who creates Disney themed content for thier social media platforms/accounts based on the theme parks, movies, and merch. An influencer may have a large/substantial following on social media, or the influencer may believe thier following is much larger than it is in reality.
Conflated? Hahaha. It’s so easy to create hard definitions in the microcosm that Disboards exists in.

I'm someone who is very upset about this.
I don't really drink at all, once in a while I'll have one but it's not often.

I can't stand the fact that Disneyland is having more alcohol. I don't see the need for it, surely you can go to a family friendly theme park and lay off the drink for one day??
I always think it's a "land of fantasy, make believe" etc, I want my reality kept outside of Disneyland. Now it's spilling over.

Sigh, another reason to frequent the Tokyo Parks instead of the US ones...

Disneysea has alcohol though? I remember being able to get a beer there.

If you're referring to their castle park, then you're correct.

I feel fortunate that my family has not experienced what you have mentioned above. I too, think there will be increase in the ugly behavior of those that over indulge. We have all seen the "Karen" videos over the last few years increase and when you add alcohol to the mix it will unfortunately get worse.
It's profit above all else

The worst behaviour I’ve witnessed at Disneyland is entitled guests who have no concern for others. Alcohol not required.

In my experience at Oga’s and Blue Bayou, the alcohol portions are very consistent and monitored - no over-pouring for example. The wine glasses at BB even have a little star on the side for portion size and it’s an automatic pouring system. Yup, I’m one of those horrible people who had a glass of wine with her lunch this week at blue bayou. Note I said: *a* glass - you can’t even order a bottle for the table people.

The people ordering a drink or two with a meal are not likely the ones anyone should be concerned with. The sad thing is if people want to be drunk at Dland they will find a way, and it won’t be by dining at a table service restaurant. I mean, can you imagine the hassle and cost of securing back to back table service reservations at all the sit down restaurants (with a 2 drink maximum) throughout the day. How could you even eat all that food. My stomach hurts even thinking about it.

Man I swear some people stepped out of a time machine from 1950, clutching pearls over alcohol. It’s 2023. It’s weird to not be able to have a beer or glass of wine at a sit-down restaurant. They are just finally catching up with the times. With all respect, Walt Disney has been dead for like 60 years. He had no problem with people smoking around children but a glass of wine was not ok?? Sorry but his opinion shouldn’t really be a huge consideration in anything anymore. He is gone.
