Character and Show Discussion Thread

I love this! I was actually talking to my Mom about who all your friends might be and she was one of them!

Also, just wanted to say that I really appreciate your interaction on this forum. I’m going through a sad time and you’ve been an excellent distraction to keep my mind off it. :)
I’m sorry you’re having a sad time. I am glad that us chatting has been a help to you ❤️

She just turned 4! Hopefully next time she’ll be brave enough to respond more than just 1 or 2 words. She said her heart went “boom boom boom” whenever she met princesses lol.

Rapunzel on the Wonder right now really made an impact on her. Belle and Moana, too (I love watching her dance on stage!). Minnie and Mickey were awesome as well. Would you happen to know if the same cast will still be on the Wonder on the March 2024 Vancouver to San Diego sailing? She’d love to make some thank you cards and personally hand it to them.
That made my day to hear that she is so excited to see the Princesses!! As far as I am aware, the cast will have changed by then but I will check to make sure

Can you tell us what your job is like? What is it like getting to play an actual Disney princess? Any cool anecdotes?
Ship life itself can be challenging; living in the middle of the ocean for months at a time. I am lucky and have my boyfriend onboard with me so that helps a bit with missing my family.
Being a character performer is what keeps me in my job. It is so much fun to portray characters that I myself loved so much as a child and to see the wonder and joy on Guests faces as they meet the characters too. It can become a bit repetitive if you let it. That is why random interactions or funny conversations etc with Guests are so great

I have not seen them yet so I am not sure if there will be any changes. I will keep you posted

What are your rooms like? And the food? Do you get to do things around the ship if you are not working? Or spend time in ports?

My favorite friends are Anna, Cinderella and Rapunzel
Can you tell use more about what it is like to have this job? Sorry For all the questions. I am just fascinated by what you do. I have never met someone who works as a character before.

Have you ever seen Tinker Bell on the cruises Mags2002? My mom is obsessed with Tinker Bell and she collects anything with Tinker Bell on it and she even has Tinker Bell office supplies that she loves using when she does business work at home. When my mother saw Tinker Bell meet and greets on Youtube she didn't even know fans could meet Tinker Bell in person. One other question I have for you Mags2002 is there any way to request character autographs from DCL by mail? Because I collect character autographs and really want some autographs of my favorite Marvel stars like Black Panther Captain America Loki and of course Ant-Man and Star Lord. But the only info I found so far is you have to write a letter to Disney directly to recieve character autographs. Is there another option besides writing a letter by contacting a character directly via email to request a autograph?

I have previously seen Tinker Bell onboard. She is not on the ship I am currently on.
Yes you can write a letter to Disney and request certain autographs. Unfortunately, there is no way to contact characters via email

There isn’t a lot more I can say about it that I haven’t already. It’s pretty special though, that’s for sure. Getting to hang out with characters that I myself loved as a child and making dreams come true for children (and adults) is incredible. Yes, I can have bad days, and yes sometimes it is hard, but when that costume goes on it’s like all of the training kicks in and I am ready to create happiness and magic for our Guests 💙

If you have any character or show related questions, this is the place to ask and discuss!

How heavy are those princess dresses?
Are face characters recognizable when they're dressed normal? Meaning, would I recognize Cinderella if she was in regular clothes riding the tram to the cast member beach, or having breakfast with crew friends at one of the ship restaurants?

Each dress weighs a different amount. Basically the fuller the skirt, the more layers and structuring it has. There are some that are really heavy and they have to be careful how much time a CM spends in them at a time.
I would say that some people do recognize CMs as face characters when they are out of costume. It has happened to me a fair few times. Some people have more recognizable facial features than others

If we do recognize one of the characters, can we go and say hi when they are in regular closthes?

I have heard there is a kid of rivalry or jealousy between characters like the princesses and ones like Mickey. Is this true? What have you experienced with this?

That's odd that people cannot contact characters via email for an autograph by mail because it is a faster way to request autographs for kids. But I am still on the hunt for Marvel character autographs because I would love to get some autographs of my favorite Marvel characters but I haven't been able to and I have been longing for Star Lord's autograph forever but it seems impossible to get. What are some other ways to get character autographs other than going to the parks or going on a DCL cruise?

Yes, perhaps they should "settle things" with a game of dodgeball on the sports deck. In full costume. Who gets to have Maui on their team!?
