skipping squeeze room on haunted mansion?

Yeah, that funnel is nuts. We always go right to the doors in the stretch room, so that we're first out and can get to the ride queue...helps a little in dealing with that cattle chute.

We use the term "squeeze room" for the funnel into the ride queue right after leaving the stretch room.

That's what I pictured when I entered this thread. I though it might be about someone having anxiety about the crowding at the bottleneck. I don't know how you would skip that part though. As others have said, the Stretching Room can be skipped.

other ideas:
1) Do the skip the room part and go on the ride. Then see if they would do it again but try the room..you can always bail.
2) Show them pictures of the stretching room..there are videos on line. Have a talk with the 9 year old privately and see if they think they could do it..I am sure the little ones look up to her/him.

I have an anxiety disorder and that squeeze in there is bananas. My sister leads the way holding my hand. It's my favorite attraction, but Oh Man! When we get into the stretch room we go to the doors too. Doesn't always help, but most of the time it works really well.

MY sister and I were talking, if they insist on that crowd funnel that takes forever to shuffle into single file why don't they just let smaller groups into the stretch room? You would think if you loaded the rooms with less people it wouldn't affect wait time cause it's not like you are going anywhere fast.

Overloading the Strecthing Room is a real problem. I was very happy on my last DL trip that they didn't do that. The let everyone in the foyer first to hear the opening, then the Strecthing Room. I realized why later. Because the DL Stretching Room is an elevator it has a weight limit. I do wish they would close the entry door to the foyer though, which they never did.

We have done that as well. :thumbsup2

More recently though we opt to remain in the stretching room until everyone else has gone ahead of us. The upside is no shoving/pushing and we love listening to the whispering voices as we leave the room - it just addds a little something. The downside is if the other room is timed poorly, we end up in that crunch!

I skip both very doable ( well skipping both is)

Any guesses as to why WDW does it the way they do? For us, it's really not a "big deal", and going right to the doors in the stretch room helps a lot anyway. But it is curious that it's set up that way. If I'm right, the mansion is pretty old. Is it sort of like an obsolete freeway...i.e. it was only designed to take xxx guests per hour but is now trying to double that due to increased park attendance over the past decades?

I think you've hit it on the head. They are just trying to get more people to the ride faster, but they are lessening the total experience in my opinion. The HM just wasn't build to accommodate that many guests. The line at DL is a bit slower because of that, but really, it still goes pretty fast.

Not if everyone does it though - there would be a crowd in the 'skipping area; just as bad as the pre-vehicle room. How would that work?
I know you will have a hard time with this but I need to skip both and no I will not say why.. so it will work not every one need to skip both and guess what when you skip one or both you are in the same place the CM just directs you to two different places, what every one fits your needs is where you go.

because aPP bought it up and this person has had a few problems with the way I do things at disney

yes I do know how it works and that it is not just a simple walk to the right place. but for some people they have to do it for there own safety not because they are too scared ( and yes this is a good reason too) just like people with mobility devices skip the stretching room it is for there safety.

Another thing to note is that the average person is about 25 pounds heavier now than in 1970. Over 20 or so people, that's a fair amount of added girth. Even if it's the same amount of people, it's going to feel a lot more crowded.

One of my first and most vivid childhood memories was melting down....absolutely melting down....in that room. And refusing to do the rest of the ride (younger sister laughing at me the whole time). And my mother having to ask an a CM to take us out and walking through a bright hallway to go out the back to wait on my father and sister.

Years later I was able to go through the whole thing and wondered "What was i so terrified of?" That was in the late '70's. :rotfl:

I love the stretching room. The aging painting in the foyer creeps the heck out of me though. Same with the pictures hanging in the hallway part of the ride with the many doors and "eyes" wallpaper.
