Where do you suggest eating dinner the first night in Disney? We will be arriving around 12:00pm and I'm trying to think of the best way to kick off our vacation. There will be 7 of us including my parents and 2 girls (6 & 11). We will have park tickets and we are staying at BLT. This will be my girls first trip to WDW and I wanted to start it off special!

Chef Mickey right there at the Contemporary would be a great magical beginning for your girls' first visit to Disney World. Don't expect the greatest food, but all the main characters will be there.

I thought about that but always heard the food was really bad!

The Magic Kingdom at night is pretty special with Main Street all lit up and the fireworks and everything.

If money is no object, how about taking the boat to Fort Wilderness, catching the early show of HDDR, then going to the campfire singalong, Chip and Dale m&g, roasting marshmallows, outdoor movie, etc?

Our tradition the last couple years has been 1900 Park Fare Dinner. We stay at the Grand so it's convenient. But most importantly, the food is delicious & the character interaction is amazing!!
We also do Hoop dee doo every year as well, as a previous poster mentioned, you can't go wrong with that!

When DD14 was younger, we liked to visit 1900PF for our first meal. It's fun and the food is really good. I love the stepsisters - they really make the meal!

The food at Chef Mickey's isn't great, but it is quintessential WDW to see the Fab Five and watch the monorail go through the resort. 1900 Park Fare is really nice and you would meet Cinderella, the stepsisters, etc. If you want to go into MK, BOG would be lovely or you could go to Crystal Palace and meet Winnie the Pooh and friends.

Is there anything your girls are REALLY into --- I might let that be a guide and build the experience around that.

Personally, with a multi-generational family, I'd pick HDDR (2 credits or consider paying OOP).

But, if your girls are huge princess fans and you have park tickets, maybe you'd be better off with Akershus (1 credit) or CRT (2 credits) as the cornerstone of the night.

We are going to Skipper Canteen at 6pm and then have a fast pass for a 7:10 twilight ride on the Jungle Cruise!

Hopefully a great first night! :)

I second BOG dinner if you can snag the reservation. It's a truly magical experience. I also have enjoyed 1900 Park Fare dinners.

I've never cared for Chef Mickey's dinners, but we always have to have breakfast there.

If you don’t want to eat in a park ...

We kicked off our last trip at 1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian with Prince Charming, Cinderella, the stepsisters and Lady Tremaine. It was a hoot! If you think girls would get into it with the stepsisters and Lady Tremaine, I highly recommend. They’re hilarious.

The food was actually good - I generally don’t like most of the buffet food and this was the best we’ve had. We will do this again.

But ... since you will have park tickets and will be close to MK, I’d also consider BOG or CRT. Both would be very festive first meals!

I'd do dinner at Be Our Guest or Crystal Palace. Be Our Guest would be magical as it's inside the Beast's castle and even includes a visit with the Master himself. Crystal Palace is a lot of fun with Pooh and the Gang from the 100 Acre Woods. These are probably characters that are known and loved by all ages in your party and is a great place for a multi-generational first meal.

I would eat in a park... anywhere in MK will be magical since your girls haven't seen it before. I prefer Crystal Palace to Chef Mickey, so if you want characters, I would do that. Otherwise any of the MK restaurants would get you that walk up and down main street. Add in a FP or two for some extra magic! Or a round of Sorcerer's or the Pirate Scavenger hunt.

I just realized you are arriving at 12pm! I would definitely line up 3 MK fastpasses for the three hours before dinner and then eat somewhere in the park, wherever you can get an ADR if your trip is soon, BOG or CP if you have time.
