Exchange rate at all time low

We ate off-site a fair bit. Went to Olive Garden for the first time, and had a fantastic meal - so much food, and terrific service.

    Is Disney still magical?

Disney has well and truly lost its magic. If you want the magic, go stay at Universal instead, IMO. Cabana Bay was everything that Disney used to be like, in particular housekeeping and the staff.

    Joffreys coffee

Thought it was nice enough in the food court at Pop Century. However, the cocoa they did at Pop was bloody gorgeous! Think they must do something different there, becaue it was far, far better than Art of Animation across the bridge.

Exchange rate at all time low

So we got back from our trip last week, and prices over there have got ridiculous now. Some of that is down to the exchange rate, but prices have also gone up massively in dollars. The only bargains to be had there now is the fuel (half the price of back home). Glad to say that breakfast at...

    Documents needed just now?

Yep, that is exactly what we did for our trip last month. You can probably print off the covid vaccine stuff from the HNS Scotland website now if you are going in a few weeks time (seem to recall we did ours about 3 weeks before travel).

Digital tickets vs Physical for Universal Orlando?

I take it you are a single person? In that case, personally I would have stayed at Cabana Bay and paid for the Express Pass. But for more than one person, the economics are heavily stacked in staying at a deluxe resort. I much preferred our room at Cabana Bay than RPR, and the overall resort as...

    Suggestions for offsite hotels

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but just needed to pass on our observations of a great hotel we stayed at last week! Universal's Cabana Bay is a great resort - we had a Volcano Bay view room which had brilliant views of Volcano Bay and also across Orlando towards ICON Park. The room...

Has anyone found sensible car hire prices yet?

Keep an eye on hire car companies trying to charge you for fuel, even when the tank is full on return. Alamo tried to do that to me last week - they charged my card straight away as soon as I dropped it off, so I got a refund (it was full when I returned it). I took photos of the fuel gauge...

Where are the tolls on 528?

Visitor Toll Pass is definitely working - we used it the last 3 weeks. So easy - can really recommend it if you are going to use a few toll roads. We did quite a few - notably the road to KSC - but found it so convenient.

Digital tickets vs Physical for Universal Orlando?

Personally, I preferred having the physical tickets. I witnessed loads of problems from people in front of me with their phones trying to scroll through tickets. As for Express Pass, yes it was a godsend, but don't be tricked into thinking rides will be walk-ons. We still waited for around 30...

Online check in for Disney hotel

Personally, I wouldn’t do online check in. At POP, they tried to put us into building 2 miles away from everything despite us sending a request in advance through Touring Plans. We managed to change it to a decent room in a great central location when we checked in at the desk. BTW, we had room...

Exchange rate at all time low

Not from my experience. Tax was definitely added on our food at Pop last couple of days. Although we are finding the large pepperoni pizza there is good value. 18.99 and fed 3 adults nicely. Big surprise is how expensive food in Walmart is. More expensive than UK on average I reckon. USA no...

    Chaos at UK airports

We flew out of Heathrow on Wednesday. The baggage handling system wasn’t working, so check in was taking longer. Flight was delayed around 50 minutes, but gave enough time for all the luggage to get loaded. We had a tailwind and caught up time and actually landed 30 minutes early. I would...

    UK-US travel, 2021/2022

So I checked my emails from Virgin, and got one last week with links to fill in an electronic version of the attestation form on their website. Was really quick - just entered flight number then selected each passenger to say they were vaccinated. No forms to fill in and upload. Not sure if we...

    UK-US travel, 2021/2022

Due to set off on Tuesday for our trip - what are these attestation forms I keep reading about? I thought you just needed Covid certs with you? Is there something else I need to do before we go (on top of the 1001 other things I needed to do). I thought I was fully ready (just finished packing...

Dining credits offer - have you used it?

The $200 gift card we got this time came in the post 2 weeks before we travel. We booked through Attraction Tickets though. Last time when we got the gift cards, we had to pick them up at Disney Springs, but that was booked through Disney.

Dining credits offer - have you used it?

Has anybody tried charging back to the room, then using the dining credit to pay off the charges? A previous poster suggested it could be done, but not seen it confirmed anywhere.

Is WDW cutting back on the AC to save money?

I'm from Scotland - 75F is a tropical day for us! We start sweating at 68! The ambient temperature will have a part to play in the efficiency of any AC system though. The higher the ambient temperature, the more the refrigerant system will struggle to provide the same amount of cooling due to...

    Pre-flight Covid test to USA

Cases of transmission on planes have been surprisingly low. The theory on why this is the case is because the overhead ventilation creates air 'curtains' between rows of seats.

anyone else hoping to go in July 2022?

Yep, less than 3 weeks from now and I'll be there - flying out on the 6th July.
