Extra Wheelchair Battery & Magical Express

I called Magical Express. They said, anything the airline lets you check, they will deliver to the resort. We did have an issue last year with RAC not taking my walker after several previous trips of it being no problem. We noticed they accepted huge strollers so we called when we got home &...

Extra Wheelchair Battery & Magical Express

I will be traveling with a spare WC battery. SW will allow it to be checked with our luggage since it is NOT a lithium battery. It weighs about 25 lbs & is in a hard plastic case with a handle. Will ME transport it for us? This is the 1st time traveling with the battery & we aren't sure what's...

    wheelchair vs. transport chair

I agree about the combo transport chair & rollator. I had one called the Duet. It couldn't handle the tiniest bump without tipping me out. My cheap transport chair was much easier for my husband to push. When I was in a mobility aids store, I heard them recommending the combo to a man looking...

Flying With Extra Power Chair Battery

I checked the airline website & they will let you check any non lithium battery as luggage. Says it needs to be in a rigid case. It is already enclosed in a hard plastic case with a handle so I think we won't need to do any additional packaging. We're going to call to make sure...don't want any...

Flying With Extra Power Chair Battery

Thanks mama bunny for your always helpful info. I was hoping the spare battery could just be handled with the luggage. I may just call the airline & magical express to see how we should handle it. I'd hate for my husband to have to carry that 25 lb battery around everywhere until time to board.

Flying With Extra Power Chair Battery

I'm planning to take my power chair instead of my ECV to WDW. I want to bring a spare battery. I'm not sure how that works with flying. Will we be able to check it with our luggage & have Magical Express deliver it to the resort or will we have to take it on the bus ourselves? It's a regular...

Scooter from Epcot resorts to DHS

I've done it plenty of times with no problem as long as my battery is fully charged. That's one reason we love staying at the Epcot resorts.

    Power Chair vs ECV

I never bought the LiteRider Envy. I'm still using the regular LiteRider. As far as I can tell, they're the same except for the battery. We did check & found out that the bigger battery will fit mine so we're seriously considering that so it would have enough power for Disney. I'm just not sure...

Should I bring my wheelchair or scooter??

I'm interested in opinions about scooter or power chair also. I've always used a scooter at WDW but use a power chair at home. I'm considering bringing the power chair on our Dec trip. It's so much easier in bathrooms & restaurants than the scooter. Only problem is my power chair battery...

MK Train issue we had with EVC - hope to help others

When we rode it, they had a wheelchair available for me to use to board & ride the train while my ECV was left at the station. That wouldn't help much if you were didn't have someone with you capable of pushing you. The wheelchairs they provide aren't usually ones you could propel yourself that...

BWV Studio - to request accessible or not?

I recommended the use of a transfer bench. I did NOT suggest that she try to climb in & out of the tub nor stand up in the tub nor sit down in the tub. I am not able to do any of those things either, but I still prefer a HA tub room over a roll in shower room but ONLY with the use of a transfer...

BWV Studio - to request accessible or not?

If someone has balance issues, the roll in showers may actually be more problem. Getting to the shower bench on wet floor is dangerous. Sometimes roll in showers get the bathroom floor wet which may not be noticed by someone with vision problems. As my condition slowly worsened & I was...

    VGF Handicap/ADA studio room 1428-offered a $200 credit/no other room available

I agree. We have to have HA rooms & I often wonder what they were thinking when they designed these rooms. Instead of warning people that they may unfortunately get placed in a HA room, they should design the HA rooms in such a way that people wouldn't feel it was so terrible to have to stay in one.

Sounds like it'll all work out fine. Enjoy your trip!

Tell Me I Did The Right Thing!

No studios available anywhere. Copper Creek did have 1 bedrooms but I just didn't want to spend 60 points for 3 nights when all 8 nights at AKV is only 96. We'll just visit Copper Creek for a day. Settling in & not having to move sounds good to me. I'd have done the split stay if studios were...

Tell Me I Did The Right Thing!

I'm debating the same thing. Tomorrow is the 7 mo booking day for our trip. I'd like to try Copper Creek especially at Christmas. We've never stayed at WL. We'd have to do a split stay since nothing is available for the entire trip. I just don't know if I want to bother with that. We can still...

    Non-Portable ECV and Taxis

Why not rent one that is portable? There are several 3 wheel ECVs that break down. The Pride Go Go is one.

    Rivers of light wheelchair/ECV access

Just ask one of the workers, they'll show you where to go & help get you seated. Just don't wait till the last minute. We ask where to line up & were seated early. There's plenty of beautiful scenery so it's not bad waiting. We had FPs too. Better to be seated early than wait in line. Plus it's...

If you rent one often, its definitely worth buying one.

    Rivers of light wheelchair/ECV access

We were there 1st week of March & saw ROL. I use a scooter & there is space for them next to a bench for family to sit. We were seated in front on the far right corner. I assume there are other areas for scooters also. After the theater was full, I did see a woman in a ECV being led towards the...
