A Disney Honeymoon Looking for Fun & Furry Friends ~ May 6-13, 2014 UPDATED: 8-13

Just as we went down from Main Street Station, the Trolley Show was going on. We viewed it from above and below to get different perspectives. We had yet to see the horse drawn trolley so we were glad we caught it.

Now it was time to get our names stitched in our Mickey Ears. And for me to say goodbye to my old ears! We bought them previously, but we said we’d wait to get out names on them. So went into the store to get them done and the cashier asked me to get him one with a price tag on it. Then we mentioned how DH got his from the Emporium so he asked if it was the same price and rang it up again. Then he told us the total which was way more than we thought. So we were like, “No, we already bought the ears, we just need our names on it.” I thought they saw us come in with them. Anyway I apologized and said we should have been more clear about that. I swear I heard him say under his breath, “Yes, you should have!” That really rubbed me the wrong way, but I was not sure if that is what he said. I also was going to cause any drama so I let it slide. While we waited, the Move It, Shake It Parade was happening on Main Street. I believe we missed the first couple of floats, but I still got pictures of the others one.

We collected our ears and mine got stuck and the writing got messed up. So they got me a new pair. Goodbye old ears! At least I didn’t have to pay for a second pair. In honesty, I loosened the chin strap anyway so it was nice to have a tight one again. But it never did mold to my head the same, haha.
We went into the art shop, but still had no luck. We decided to wait and DH thought a painting he liked was in the art shop at Epcot. I do not have much photos after this so we must have did our third FP at Space Mountain and shortly headed out after that. Once again, Space Mountain was a blast! We did not take my motion sickness pill that day thinking we would not go on that many rides. We survived with normal tummies!

UP NEXT: Shopping at Downtown Disney

I do not think I took any photos while down there, so this will be a short entry! We went to the shopping side first and went into the Christmas shop. It was nice, but once again, there was not something totally original that I just had to buy for us. However, there was an adorable Mary Poppins ornament in her Jolly Holiday dress. I had to get something for my dad for his birthday – I was down in Disney during it. My father and I would watch Mary Poppins every Sunday morning when I was a kid so this gift had a sentimental value behind it. Not to mention we both love Christmas so it just worked out! I believe we ended up getting an ornament for ourselves too.

We went into a few stores, but the next big one I remember going in was the World of Disney. Struck out again! I do not know what I was expecting to get, but I did not find it. However we got a cute frame and I got a shirt and onesie for my niece and nephew. Someone had a return from heck and it was with a cashier in training. We eventually got out of line into a new one because it was taking too long.

The other side of Downtown Disney did not interest me much as it was more of the entertainment district and we had no plans to bowl, go to the movies, or Cirque De Soleil. When we went back to the shop side, I went into the store where you can design your own t-shirts. I got an Anna and Elsa one for my oldest niece with her name on it. I got a sweet little voicemail when she received it the next week later.

We went back to Coronado Springs and spent the evening there. We swam in the local pool next to our room and the main one again. We got out of the local one because it was a tad too busy. There was also a man who had a cluster of woman surrounding him. They'd follow his every move. I think we learned later it was actually a father with his wife and teenage daughters, which makes it more odd!

After swimming in the main pool we walked around the whole resort since we did not do that yet. We also had to redeem our free champagne certificate. When we got to the bar, we discovered we could redeem it for margaritas instead. Yes, please! While waiting for our drinks, we spoke to a young mother who used to live near where we live. It was a nice chat. DH was hungry after this so he went to the food court and I went back to our room to get our refillable mugs. And on the way I took some photos (I may post them here soon).

Three more days left!

UP NEXT: When you miss a very important FP...

That's great that you got to re-do some of your favorite rides!

Bummer about the interaction with that CM with the ears - but glad it worked out in the end and you even got a new set of ears out of it

That was sweet of you to get all of those gifts for your family - especially the Mary Poppins ornament for your dad - always great when you can find something sentimental :goodvibes

yeah for margaritas! :thumbsup2

We would wake up during the trip and it always be a bit sad. One day off our Disney honeymoon. But then I would remember, whoa we still have a few more days to go! Well, it’s was getting closer to the departure. This would be our last time at Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom!

Hollywood Studios by ak82984, on Flickr

We arrived at HS before opening and it was already crowded. We found a kiosk on the right that did not have that long of a line. We would have to make a dash to the right in order to do standby for Rockin’ Rollercoaster.

Rock n Rollercoaster by ak82984, on Flickr

We had no problems getting there and was one of the first groups to ride. I rode this about 14 years ago and I knew about the fast take off at the beginning, but you’re stomach does not remember that feeling! It was something else. I also forgot you go upside down. I remember the first part being awesome and the remainer being sort of a let down. I think I must have confused it with another rollercoaster, Nightmares at a local amusement park, because it was awesome the time around! After we were done, we hoped back into line to go a second time!

Rock n Rollercoaster by ak82984, on Flickr

We had a little bit until our next FP so we headed to the other side of the park. I asked DH if we could head over to MV because my friend works at the FP kiosk there. I actually saw the back of her the last time we went, but I was unsure it was her. I texted her later and found out it was her! Anyway, it was nice catching up. Her mother, my Godmother when I was younger, came to visit her earlier in the week, but alas, our paths did not cross in the parks. She gave us advice where to eat for lunch and we were on our way!

Muppets Vision by ak82984, on Flickr

Since we were in the area, we decided to do the Studio Backlot Tour. The only part I remember when I was younger is when everything explodes and then they have rain come pouring down. We both thought the ride was a little bit of a letdown. The best part was seeing movie props and costume in the warehouse after the ride.

It was time for our first FP so we headed over to ToT.

Tower of Terror by ak82984, on Flickr

Uh oh, we were having problems with our magic bands. That was because we had another 40 minutes or so for the FP. Oops. I am not sure how we got the times messed up. …This act of carelessness will almost affect us later on. …

I cannot remember until we returned to the attraction, but we did venture over to the main street and the performers were out. This was our first time getting to see Betty Shambles.

Don't let them get you down, Betty!
Street Characters by ak82984, on Flickr

DH would develop a romance with her later on in the day! I think we explored the shops on Sunset Boulevard, unfortunately disappointing (item wise). We got back and I took photos of the lobby mentioning how dusty the place looked.

You would think they would keep up with appearances!

Tower of Terror by ak82984, on Flickr

Tower of Terror by ak82984, on Flickr

I had completely forgotten the first part of this ride where you’re moving forward into the twilight zone. I just thought you went a floor and automatically there was a drop. We had fun on the ride and our bags kept flying off the ground. Luckily we had them interlocked with our legs. DH said he did not want to ride it again or he would get sick.

We checked our schedule to see the arrival time of our TSM FP. DH informs me it has already passed. Yes, when we went to ToT, we should have been at TSM. We planned it that way so we weren’t doing too fast paced attractions close to each other. I did not look at the schedule the night before and thought DH had a handle on it for the day. NOPE! So now I am freaking out because we’re screwed. Would they honor us to replace it? Would any be left? I saw my friend had moved to Main Street area handing out flowers to mothers. However, we could not find her so we just went over to the kiosk at MV. A CM greeted us and we told him the dilemma. I even emphasized I knew how big of a mistake this was and understood if nothing was available. He checked the times and the next one was at 7:20 PM. We would be in MK by then. I did not want to book it and keep trying to see if we could get an early time on the mobile app so I was just thinking what to do. That’s when he hit the back button and search and surprise! A new time popped up for 2:40 PM. Perfect, we’ll take it and thanks for being amazing!

We had a little over an hour until our official third FP for Indiana Jones.

Gonzo by ak82984, on Flickr

We decided to grab lunch and we took the recommendation of one of the air conditioning restaurants; Pizza Planet. I was wearing my Muppets shirt that day and the CM at the cash register complimented it and said he loved it. We both got basic pizzas with a side salad and drink. I got the chocolate chip cookie for dessert and DH got the cappuccino cupcake. Everything was delicious even if it was simple. It would be nice if they could have more interactive elements in the restaurant, but it was a good choice.

We returned to the Animation studios to complete the things we missed the previous days. We had to meet Sorcerer Mickey since DH’s ears went so well with Mickey’s attire!

Aren’t they so cute together?

I would have loved to done an art class, but there was a long line and we still wanted to do the interactive show with Mushu. We had time until the next show so we looked in on one of the animators in their office. A chatty CM came by and she talked with us until the doors opened for the next show.

Oswald!

I expected this to be just a film so I was surprised when I saw someone on stage. But then Mushu came on screen and then I remembered hearing about this. We both enjoyed it and had some laughs.

UP NEXT: An Affair with Betty Shambles

Fast forward a little when we were walking over to Indiana Jones. Oh, we still had time and that would have to wait because what are the performers up to right now? Poor Betty Shambles was trying to get into a restaurant, but the chef said she did not have a reservation!

Now all this time there was another male character, I do not remember who and does it matter because he was not THE Betty Shambles, but he came with her and was the only person in the party to be let in. So he would come back occasionally and talk to the chef and make some Hollywood reference or joke and then walk away.

Betty rejected again. by ak82984, on Flickr

Eventually they got a kid to play the bouncer and he escorted Betty out of the restaurant once. DH was making comments throughout the skit, sometimes calling to Betty who would tell him to be quiet because she was in disguise! Anyway he told her not to worry about getting in because the food was not good. Oh the chef was not happy with that comment. DH was escorted out of the restaurant with the bouncer chasing after him.

This is when I thought he planned this on his own, but he insists that Betty Shambles leaped into his arms. And by doing this, he walked into the restaurant and she finally got in!

Betty Shambles was very happy with DH and found him quite attractive. She found him to be a big hunk of a man and DH made some comment like, “I’m a big slab of meat.”

UP NEXT: Finishing up HS

We got into the Indiana Jones ride I believe before the standby line or maybe mixed in with them. We probably could have made standby, but it allowed us to show one minute before they let people in. Plus we did some attractions the previous day so no longer needed FP for them today. So I reference to the Disney Full House episode a lot when I think of this ride. So it was to my dismay when the ball did not come out at the side of the wall and almost smush Indiana Jones to death. They actually called cut right after the switch. WHAT?! I had entirely forgotten about the other scene after this with the volunteers in the audience. It was an okay show, but it’s not something I’d have to do on every trip.

Some picture taking while I wait for DH.

Looked in on the Buzz and Woody Meet and Greet and saw Green Army Men walking around. One of them took a mister fan from a guest and walked down the lane spraying any guest in his track. TSM was so much better than Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger. It was a lot easier too, especially when we figured out to contiously keep shooting. Yes, your hands will hurt after it’s done! I am so glad we were able to do this attraction. I would never wait in a line for it, but it would always be a FP priority.

On a bus we go! It was always my hope when we got there, we’d be able to see some of the FoF parade. Would we make it in time??

UP NEXT: An evening at the Magic Kingdom

By the time we got into the park, it was probably around 3:20 PM. We would be able to catch the ending of the Festival of Fantasy parade. Looking straight down Main Street, I could see the Pinocchio float.

Festival of Fantasy by ak82984, on Flickr

I decided to go up on the Main Street Station balcony and look at the parade from a higher vantage point! It was interesting to be eye level with the performers on the swings. I was able to catch the White Rabbit and the Mad Hatter so all was good with the world. We also caught the end of Brave and Maleficent sections.

Notice the child on the right. He splashes water on my camera a second after that!

DH told him he was rude!

So we have an hour and a half until our dinner reservation at BOG. I really have no photos during this time or a FP booked. What did we do? If I remember correctly, we did ride the carousel again. We also looked out for the Tremaine family who were surprisingly still out this late. Once again we were not in the right spot when the line formed and it filled up quickly. The friend of Drizella was the same, but Anastasia and Lady Tremaine were different. This friend of Lady Tremaine was one I saw on youtubr videos so I wanted to meet her. But alas, we did not want to wait. We were off to their other side and when they had a break in between guests, DH just said, “Happy Mother’s Day, Lady Tremaine!” Drizella looked at us, but I doubt she remembered us. Or else she did not forgive me for bringing back a big crown! I think shortly after this either Lady Tremaine or Drizella made up a Mother’s Day song! I love these ladies!
We must have ventured into Liberty Square and Adventureland because I have a photo of the “human waste” canal on LS’s pavement. We may have gotten a snack. I know at some point in the trip we went back to Aloha Isle and got a Dole Whip Float! This time, only with pineapple ice cream – I liked this!

Love your AK pics!

You got some great character pics at HS!

We went to Sci Fi for the first time last year, and we loved it!

Great Crystal Palace pics, too! We've been there a few times, and we always love it!

As you mentioned about the photobucket problem, you could start a new account with a different email address.

And what a fun character interaction with Anastasia and Drizella.
That was cute!!

Can't wait to hear more!!!

Thanks. I'll have more AK photos coming up soon. There won't be any Safari ones, but since my camera was working right, I got more scenic shots.

I honestly was lying in bed last night thinking of the events that happened that I cannot remember. It kept me up, but I still drew a blank. It's already been a month and I'm forgetting details! So...let’s fast forward to dinner.

As we were checking in, I heard one annoyed guest who desperately wanted a reservation for the evening. Day of and on Mother’s Day, good luck! She walked away defeated and angry. We were called in and were seated in the ballroom, yay! It was not by the window, but really any seat there has a gorgeous view.

We were able to get the lemonade with the wild berry foam with our dining plan. Score! We could not get refills, but that was fine with me since we also had water.

P1250474 by ak82984, on Flickr

I went all out for dinner and got the steak! It was the most expensive meal on the menu, but we might as well take advantage of the dining plan. I usually never eat steak, but it sounded good and I wanted the pomme frites! I never remember what DH got for meals! I know it was one of the meat courses. I know, that narrows it down so much! I was getting anxious wanting to take photos of the restaurant, but DH wanted me to enjoy the meal and interact with him. The nerve! ;-) We saw the Master a couple of times and we knew we would see him at the end of the meal. The food was delicious and they gave us a sample of the grey stuff for our celebration.

Try the grey stuff! by ak82984, on Flickr

I had a feeling they might as I was happy. It was something a little more special than the normal, “Congratulations!” I got the strawberry cupcake again because I LOVED it! I think DH got the chocolate cupcake. Dinner was over and we were able to walk around.

I wonder if the Beast is a hard role to play. The Beast on this particular night wasn’t very interactive. He sort of just stood there and posed. I think he was asked once by a guest to stomp his feet, which he did for them. I know it’s big, heavy “attire”, but I was thinking of ways to interact with guests and how to pose regally.

UP Next: Filling in the Gaps between FPs??

Anytime. I try to comment regularly when I've got the time ;) I just sometimes fall behind, but I promise I will always catch up.

I have yet to see the Trolley Show. I mean, I think we've walked past it, but never seen the whole of it.

I understand what you mean about the motion sickness pills. Sometimes I can miss them and be fine, sometimes it's the death of me.

Such a sweet thing to get an ornament for your dad like that.

Margarita party time. Way better ;)

Actually, you weren't the only one to have that misconception about ToT. My friends did as well, so it's okay.

Oops about TSMM, but at least you had a bit of magic on your side and found a replacement :)

The Betty interactions cracked me up. Too funny.

That does look like an interesting spot to watch the parade.

And it's okay, we don't always remember everything that happens.

Great pictures of BOG though. Really, super beautiful. I love it in there.

We had a FP for Jungle Cruise right after dinner. It was one of those things where we thought what attraction would we want to go on again? I think we wanted to try this more at night when it was dark out, but we forgot about that. Oh well, it was fine again. We saw our skipper from the last time guiding the line. DH said, “Hey they let you off the boat!” Not remembering us she said, “Um…yeah.” Well I won’t laugh at your jokes next time! Luckily we had an entertaining skipper for this ride too. He even sang a little. We were so glad we did not get a boring one who was sick of the job. The jokes are corny so you have to make it your own.

We went to the FP kiosk next to this attraction and I am not sure if it was this time or the previously in the trip. However, there was a couple who was at the kiosk with no CM and they obviously did not grasp the system. They got FPs for Jungle Cruise and went straight in line to be rejected. They selected a time later in the evening. So with a line already formed, they budged ahead of us and went to a kiosk. We were near the front and DH was not having it! He told the man there was a line and he tried to say he was just in line, blah blah. DH did not back down and the man got back at the end of the line. Get out your phone, sir, and fix it there!

Tomorrowland by ak82984, on Flickr

Our next FP was for Tomorrowland Speedway. It was one of the attractions we hadn’t done yet so we thought we would give it a chance. Since my memory is vague up until that time, I know at some point in the evening I took these photos:

This is when DH informed me we would be leaving after the parade. UM WHAT? *Cue 5 year old breakdown from a 29 year old man* He was getting tired and we already did so much in this park throughout our trip. Looking at it now, yes, he had a very valid point. But in heat my remark was, “Great so you don’t want to do AK EMH tomorrow morning and now you’re taking away EMH here! We’ll just never take advantage of them!”

We got a spot on the curve up front by the emporium. It’s where the floats go around the curve on to Main Street – perfect spot! We had some people by us trying to disobey and sit beyond the line. They were caught, though tried it again. DH went into the Emporium to look for last minute items. After he was done, I did the same, but found nothing.

We went through the Emporium and Caseys to get to Adventureland. There we watched the end of the parade from that perspective. And CMs were not having it if you were not within the lines. They got downright rude! So we obeyed the rules.

This might have been when we did Pirates of the Carribean. I think we attemped it earlier in the evening, but it closed down. I think we changed one of our FPs because of it. The standby line was short so we waited. I know you’re inside for the ride, but it’s still a tad more eerie when it’s nighttime. There’s a change in the atmosphere. I believe we were in the front again, but we prepared for the drop. It actually helped the guests behind us who said, “They’re covering up, something must be coming up!”

Since we were in this area, we decided to do Splash Mountain one last time. I do not see a FP for it so either it didn’t register or the standby line was short. We did this while the fireworks were happening. It was really cool to see them in the distance. However, I think it would have been a better experience on Big Thunder Mountain. There you are outside the entire time and it’s short. You’re able to get off and take photos. They stopped before the ride was completed. Oh well, I still enjoyed the attraction!

Must we say goodbye to MK??

It was time to start wrapping it up so our last attraction was Mickey’s Philharmagic.

I made sure we both had our ears this time! It was a nice attraction to end the day on. I was able to admire the castle one last time and slowly we made our way out of the park.

I think DH took this one.

Goodbye MK! It is so weird we won’t see you again on this trip.

Last Day at Animal Kingdom

I just realized (I know, super belatedly because you've been talking about this day the whole time) that we were totes in MK together too. So we could have crossed paths there without realizing it. Crazy.

Also, yeah, sometimes people just need a few moments to cool down. I understand both sides of the story, wanting to stay and wanting to leave. But I'm glad you made up and found a good compromise.

Interesting idea to be on Splash during Wishes. We were standing in front of the Castle watching that night and we usually watch, so it must be so different just getting a view from a ride.

Cinderella Castle is too beautiful.

Yay AK day!

So we “slept in” this morning. Honestly maybe it was like 20 extra minutes. But we took more time in the room before we headed over to AK.

I think we got there a little before 9 AM (it was AM EMH). This was our first AM EMH so we were a bit confused how to get into the park! We saw these long lines and thought, “Why aren’t they letting anyone in?” We soon discovered we had to go to the right to get in immediately. The crowd was non Disney resort guests.

We decided to head off to Dinoland because we did not spend much time there during the last visit. I am not sure if I even mentioned it in that day’s postings, but we did see it! As we were walking over there, a CM was by an entrance and said, “Hey would you like to meet Donald and Daisy? They’re down this way and there’s hardly a line!” I think I read about their new appearance together very quickly. It was probably just a headline and I was not too into the internet on our honeymoon. Anyway, at this point in the morning I completely forgot it so I was like, “Wow this is exciting!” I also completely forgot Pooh and Tigger would meet in this spot. I did not have a desire to meet them a fourth time so I did not put them on the agenda. I’m sorry Pooh and Tigger!

It was a treat to see both of them because Donald was in his original blue sailor shirt and cap and Daisy was in her purple dress. I think this location is the only, or one of the only places to see them in these outfits. Daisy was up first and were flattered her with compliments. How beautiful she was today and we loved her dress. She did some poses for us! She is so cute.

Then it was time for Donald. We were careful around Donaldo, but we decided to have fun with Donald in AK. We asked him who was #1 and he pointed to himself. We told him he was wrong and it was Mickey and pointed to our ears. Here are some photos of this interaction:

When we saw we really hurt his feelings, we told him we were joking all along and of course we knew he was number one! DH added in though that it was actually Daisy who was number one. Donald agreed to this.

His attendant was very friendly while we were there and before in line. He even took this close up photo for us:

He inquired about our wedding and told us congratulations once again. As we were leaving, a group of girls overheard him and congratulated us as well. I thought they were very sweet. Long and behold I would find out after the trip it was amberg93, marielightning, and their friends! I really wish I knew it was them as I read one of their former TR before the trip. I remember the meltdown that happened after one of the parades and I thought it was funny as I had one before one of them and had to collect myself.

Off to Dinoland we went as we might as well hit the rides before they get long lines. We did Primeval Whirl first and it was not that bad. I have seen some videos where people seem to get sick off it. But we were fine. We sort of bumped into each other, but not too much and it was just the two of us. Simple kiddie ride, but still enjoyable. Then we did triceratops spin which was pretty much Dumbo. So simple, but still a good time waster.

We headed over to Asia to use our first FP for Expedition Everest. But oh no, EE was closed! We were told we could come back and use ours later in the day and there was no time restriction. Since we had time to kill, we decided to head off to Rafiki’s Conservation Watch. We really did not spend too much time exploring the building. Our main focus was on Rafiki. We had to wait a bit, but we finally met him!

It was time to head back to Dinoland because I wanted to use our second FP closer to the start time so we were available for Dancepalooza at 11:30 AM! We both enjoyed this ride. Fun, fast, and in the dark! And yes, we made it back in time before the meteor hit! Thank goodness!

UP NEXT: Dancepalooza!

Hey, 20 minutes is 20 minutes. It's better than nothing, am I right?

Oh look, we finally crossed paths! ;)

I still love your interaction with Donald though, super cute. I'm glad you made up.

And we found EE down during our FP time too. So, we probably just barely missed one another.

Why don't I know anything about Dancepalooza? I'm feeling very uninformed now.

I wondered why I saw no photos of it in your facebook albums! They came up with it in January, sort of to substitute for the lack of FoLK. Now it's in the afternoon to replace the former parade. It's another dance party with Disney characters. The one I attended to had Meeko, Rafiki, Terk, Bre Rabbit, and Bre Fox (Fox is common since they play, "What does the fox say?") Bug Life characters, Daisy, Donald, Bre Bear, and other rare characters have been featured.

We still had like 20 minutes for the dance party, so we visited the gift shop in the area and sat at the benches. I was getting anxious and wondering what characters would be out for the event. When it started, they came out and walked towards us with a dancepalooza banner.

Here they come! Dancepalooza! by ak82984, on Flickr

Let’s see we have B’re Fox, B’re Rabbit, Terk, Rafiki (I guess we did not need to take the train ride out before), and look look look it’s MEEKO!

Hooray, I can meet Meeko! by ak82984, on Flickr

I was very sad I missed him at characterpalooza and I was secretly hoping he’d be here. It was my last chance. I gave DH the camera and started dancing near Meeko. I must have looked silly as you can tell by the reactions below:

After I got a few photos, I danced for a little bit. B’re Rabbit had some moves!

DH asked if he could twerk. I think he laughed and brushed it off. I told DH, “You can’t ask them to dance like that! It’s a family park!” After a little bit, DH asked if I was ready. I did not really need to stay for the whole thing since I met Meeko at the beginning. But I bet “What does the fox say?” was pretty fun to watch.

By this point, EE was back up and running so we got in line. Even FP was backed up because people were coming in from previous times. It didn’t take that long to get through. There was no prolonged delay at the top of the tracks this time so that helped build up the right amount of anticipation. The ride seems a little tamed at first, but then it starts to take off!

Since we were in the area and I am an animal lover, I suggested we see Maharajah Trails again. The tigers were of course sleeping. I often don’t get too excited to see big cats in zoos unless it’s right at opening. They tend to sleep most of the day. But should they have cubs, then things can get lively!

Close enough?
