Hi All :wave2: :welcome:

So this is my 2nd attempt at trying to do a trip report. I started one for our last trip but never finished, but I swear I'll try my best to finish this one ::yes:: .

A little bit about us:
My name is Jackie. I was born and raised in California. I have tons of family who live in SoCal so when I was younger, I went to Disneyland ALL THE TIME. I've loved all things Disney ever since I was young and I'm probably the biggest Disney lover in my family. BF's name is Quoc. He's not a big Disney lover as I am, but he goes just because of me. This is us last year when we were at the World :p .

Also included in this trip report is my little sister, Kim. It's usually just BF and I when we travel, but this trip was supposed to be a "family" trip, so my little sister came as well. She's more into Anime than Disney. This was her first ever trip to Disney World.

The Planning Process:
As I said earlier, this trip was supposed to be a family trip. My mom and stepdad were supposed to join us as well, but due to certain circumstances, they were unable to make the trip with us. Which is why I put the word family in quotation marks. It's ok though, we still had a good trip nonetheless. Our plan was to stay at WDW from May 15-20, then BF and I would head to California for Disneyland from May 20-23 for the 24 hour party and Diamond Celebration. I had just been accepted to the Disney College Program in March for Fall 2015, so I thought of this trip as a celebration trip for myself :teeth: . Since I had originally booked for a party of 5, we were booked at the Beach Club in a Standard View Club Level room. Unfortunately, by the time my parents told us that they were unable to go with us, it was too late for us to change resorts. So we decided to stay at the Beach Club.

So let's get on with the show! :moped:

A Mishap at the Airport:

Our flight to Orlando was at 6AM. Our bags were packed the night before and we left for the airport around 4:30AM.

IMG_0904.JPG

It was only a 20 minute drive, but Houston Hobby was PACKED at around 5AM. :crowded: . It took us about 50 minutes just to get our bags checked and through security. By that time, we were running towards the gate because it was 5:45AM and the gate was closing at 5:50AM. Unfortunately, I had injured my foot a couple of days before the trip. So I was practically limping and trying to run, which was extremely painful, but we had to make it to the gate. By the time we got there, which was only 2 minutes later by the way, the gate had already closed and they weren't letting anyone on board, even though the plane didn't leave until about 20 minutes after it's scheduled departure.. Since we missed our flight, we were put on standby for the next flight, which was scheduled to leave 5 minutes after our scheduled flight at 6. By the time we got to that gate, the gate was closed as well.. By that time, I was steaming angry :furious: . We were put on standby AGAIN, for the next flight, which was scheduled to leave at around 7:30am. I had BF and Kim go to the gate over there to wait for that flight while I stayed at our original gate to wait to speak to a manager. As I was waiting for a manager, I saw our plane still at the airport, not even leaving yet.. Finally, a manager came to speak to me and tried to help secure us on a flight, but told me that all flights were practically booked. Out of no where, I get a call from BF saying that the attendant at the gate for the standby flight was able to secure us on a direct flight to Orlando :yay: . It wasn't scheduled to leave until about 11AM, so we had 4 hours to kill at the airport, but at least we were secured on a flight!

More to come later! Stay tuned!!

Our Beach Club Arrival!:

After being at the airport for over 4 hours, we finally were on a flight to Orlando! Since we were the last ones on the plane, we were sitting at the worst seats available.. all the way in the back of the plane  . But at least we were on a flight and it was only 2 hours long, so it wasn't so bad. We arrived in Orlando around 1:00PM and headed straight to Disney's Magical Express. I forgot to mention that I forgot to put our luggage tags on our bags before we checked in our luggage so we headed to the DME desk to give them our bag claim tickets. When we got there, the CM helping us told us that our bags were already picked up by DME and were sent to our resort. Wait what ?! Since we were staying club level, I made a call to IPO to confirm that our bags were at the resort while we waited in line to get onto the bus. After being transferred to Bell Services and being on hold with them, they DID confirm that our bags were at the resort waiting for us . I don't know how they knew that our bags were going to Disney or how they even knew which resort we were staying at without the luggage tags, but they did. Disney magic before we even got there pixiedust: . So we headed onto the bus with relief and onto the Beach Club we went!

Our bus stopped at the Yacht Club before we were taken to the Beach Club. Right after we stepped off the bus, we were greeted by a CM. We told her we were staying Club Level and she escorted us to the 5th floor to check in. Ironically, the person that checked us in was also named Jackie! We were given glasses of champagne as we were checking in. Of course it was only given to myself and BF since Kim is only 17.

Here's BF having a drink of it in the room.

Finally, our room!!
IMG_0911.JPG

Funny story about the balloons. When we were at the airport, I received a text message that our room was ready, but since we were still waiting for our flight, I guess our room was assigned to someone else so we were assigned someone else's room when we got to the resort. I guess they forgot to take the balloons and cards out because they were for someone's 50th birthday :rotfl: . I still thought of it as a gift for us anyways :thumbsup2

I will say that the BC did satisfy our request for a full balcony room, but I kind of wish I requested a room closer to the elevator. It was kind of a trek walking back to our room after a long day at the parks. Still a nice room nonetheless. I know that the BC just recently renovated their Club Level rooms, but our room was in pretty bad shape.

Find out more soon!

I'm in! Sorry you had a rough start of your trip, but one good thing your staying club level. We stayed at beach club villas two years ago, the room also was in rough shape. It was clean but needed to be renovated then. Great start with your report!

Condition of Our Room:

As I stated earlier, our room was in pretty bad shape. I know they just recently renovated the rooms at the Beach Club, but already you can see wear and tear on the rooms. A lot of people on the Disney Facebook group that I'm in told me to complain to the Club Level staff to see if they could possibly switch us, but BF absolutely HATES having to pack up and switch rooms and told me that he didn't care about the condition as long as the room was clean and the bed was comfy, which both were. But here are some pictures of the condition of our room.

Paint chipping off the door:

Stain on the floor. You can't really tell because of the lighting, but I circled it for you guys to see.

They aren't really that big or noticeable, but for the price of club level, you would think the condition of the rooms would be a lot better. I noticed that pretty much all of the doors on the Club Level floor had paint chipping from them. I'm not sure if it's from the low-quality paint they're using or if it's from guests, but for club level, you would think that they would repaint the doors sometime to make them look presentable for new guests coming in to the resort.

Up next.. A look at the Club Level lounge and our Chef Mickey's Dinner!

Joining in! sounds like a rough start to the trip!

:welcome:

Yes, it was a stressful and rough start to our trip, but we still had an amazing time :goodvibes

Yes, staying Club Level definitely made our trip much better. The texting staff was amazing. Our room was always clean, but for a newly renovated room, you would think they'd be in much better condition.

What a to do with your flights and then your luggage! It sucks about your room being "under the weather", especially for club level. At least everything worked out in the end.

A Look at the New Lounge:

So I know a lot of people have posted pictures of the new Beach Club Lounge before, but here are some of my pictures. These were taken the day after our arrival because by the time we checked in and waited for our bags to be delivered to our room, we had to go straight to the bus stop to go to MK to walk to the Contemporary for our dinner reservation at Chef Mickey's.

Seating Area for the Lounge:

My biggest regret was not utilizing the lounge more often. We were often gone early in the morning for pre-park ADRs or rope drop, would come back around noon for a rest at the resort, and would be back at the parks in the early evening. The only time we used the lounge was during the early lunch hours, where the offerings weren't much. I will say that the homemade chips that they have in the lounge are my absolute favorite :lovestruc . I think I had a plate of them every day to bring back to the room whenever we came back to the resort.

Up next... Dining with the Fab 5!

Great pictures of the lounge. Loved staying concierge when we were there.cant wait to read more about the trip.

Dining with the Fab 5 ::MickeyMo::MinnieMopluto::goofy::donald::

Of course being my little sister's first ever time to Disney, she had to meet the Fab 5 first. After checking into the Beach Club and getting situated in our hotel room for a bit, we walked to the bus stop and waited for a bus to take us to MK. We actually walked over to the Resort Monorail from the bus stop because my sister had never been on it before. After a quick ride, we were back at our favorite resort, the Contemporary! Being inside the CR made me regret booking at the BC so much because we absolutely LOOOVEEEE the CR.

Anyways, back to the report. It was BF and I's 2nd time eating at Chef Mickey's, but it was our first time for dinner. Our reservation was for 5:10PM and we checked in around 5PM. We waited about 10 minutes before we were seated. Funny thing was that they sat us next to the table that BF and I sat at last time when we first ate at Chef Mickey's last trip :p

Dinner was actually not bad. My expectations for dinner were low for Chef Mickey's after hearing how bad it was on the Dis, but it did not disappoint us. Kim is an extremely picky eater who practically can eat chicken nuggets the rest of her life. So having that option there for her was great. Of course, as we're eating our meal, the gang comes out to greet everyone at their tables.

First is Minnie!

She's one of my favorites so I had to take a selfie with her :p

Can't forget BF, who is taking all of the pictures for us by the way :teeth:

A Wonderful Night in the Kingdom

After eating a fantastic dinner at Chef Mickey's, we headed towards Magic Kingdom.

We're excited to be here!

We had FPs for Space Mountain, but unfortunately, the ride was closed for the time being, so we decided since it was Kim's first time to Disney, why not have her first ride be the iconic ride, It's a Small World :teeth:. Since Space Mountain was closed, we were given a replacement FP. We decided to use it on BTMRR after riding IASW. By the time we were done riding BTMRR, we had time squeeze in one more ride before our FP for Wishes. We decided to ride POTC since it was close by. After that, we headed over to the FP area for Wishes. We were on the West side by Casey's. We were one of the first people in the area, but there were already people lined up against all of the front railings. We decided to sit back a little bit on the astroturf and relax our feet. If you remember earlier, I injured my toe a couple of days before the trip and I was pushing on even though the pain in my foot was killing me. But I didn't care, I was in Magic Kingdom! As we were waiting for Wishes, it started to sprinkle a bit. We only had 2 ponchos with us, so we decided to go buy one from the Emporium. By the time I bought it and walked back to the area, it stopped sprinkling! :faint: . Then, it was time for the Electrical Parade. You can somewhat see it from the FP area, if you're close to the right side of the area. You can really only see the big floats though if you're sitting down, which was what we were doing. My sister was so tired that when we were resting in the FP area, she fell asleep! She even slept through the sound of the Electrical Parade music :sad2: . Finally, Celebrate the Magic was about to start! It became Standing-Only and a CM came by every couple of minutes to make sure of that.

Finally, WISHES! pixiedust:

Here are some pictures of our view from the FP area

IMG_1006.JPG

Honestly, the FP area is nice, but not worth the use of a FP. There were many people who were in front of the FP area, as you can see in my last picture. We could've easily just waited there if we wanted and wouldn't have our view somewhat blocked by the lamp posts. If you're doing MK on your arrival day then I would suggest to use it then, but not for a full MK day.

After Wishes was over, we tried changing our last FP to Space Mountain, but the ride was still closed by then. Since Space Mountain was still closed, we decided to just end the night early and head back to the hotel.
