A step back in time becuse I don't know when my next WDW trip will be

When I got to the top the clouds still hadn't cleared and it was raining a little bit up there as well. The next set of the pictures are of areas of the monastery we passed as we went to see the Black Monada which is a statue you of Merry with some historical importance.

This was a shrine for the grotto were it was found when it disappeared at one point.

Back outside we saw another statue of St, Gorge this one was carved so that it would follow you similar to sme in the hunted mansion in the Disney parks.

After that was lunch I don't really remember much about it only I didn't have much as mos of it was seafood and I'm not really big on it. After that we headed back to the us. Well we were on it we discovered we had a small problem one of the poel on our bus had gotten lost so we waited for him wheel our guide checked with her office what to do. We also had a DCL CM on the bus and they talked for a bit apparently the person had gotten in touch with the DCL Agent for Barcelona (every port has an agent that the cruise line deals with for tour arrangements and such they give you the number incase you get lost from a tour or miss the boat.)
We ended up leaving with out him and he took a taxi back from the base station of the cog train. The Ship actually had to wait for him as he was on a Disney tour.

When we returned to the ship the sail away party had begun inside because it was raining slightly I didn't get any pictures because it was fairly corded at the time.

The next set of pictures were well we were waiting to leave the port and then when we final left.

This cruise ship actually flowed us to a couple of ports and I joked at one point it would be scary if they showed up at Castaway Cay.

finally pulling away. I think the guy with the red life jacket on was probably the pilot, unlike in the panama canal most pilots don't take over the control of the ships as they are not always familiar with all of them.
3356204211_61a97e2bb2_z_d.jpg

we actually did a 180 degree turn after pulling away from the per to head out into the mediterranean.

Gibraltar is one half of the two land masses that make up the gateway to the mediterranean, Morocco is the other. In ancient times they also used to be know as the pillars of hercules. Gibraltar is also a british colony and thus a separate country from Spain. Gibraltar isn't actually a country it's a british over sees territory, for further information click on the word Gibraltar erlier in this sentence.

Today was a very picture heavy day I actually took about 100 pictures I may or may not post all of them.
It was an early morning I typically on this cruise found myself getting up early sometimes it was on purpose other it was just by coincidence.

a word of caution to pole weal the barbary apes (they are not monkeys)may look tame they are wild animals and you should treat them as such and don't try and feed them. There was a kid on the cruise who was on a private excursion that had to get stitches after they got bitten by one.

3357073018_f085784203_z_d.jpg

This is a picture of the runway in the Airport in Gibraltar.
3357073714_62481697e8_z_d.jpg

Another look at the magic. The funny thing is well we were up her we actually herd the chimes that they use to make an announcements on board the ship, we all turned and laughed at it the tour guide wonder what it was so someone explained it to her.
3356255641_8254ba7e8f_z_d.jpg

here's another look at the runway you can also see the only road out of the town of gibraltar that heads towards Spain, As you can see in this picture it crosses over the runway so when a plane takes off or lands they have to stop traffic. Since then they have built a tunnel under the runway for car traffic.

and now into the siege tunnels. Parts of the rock have actually been dug out to make a make shift fort that has been used over the years it was last used for military purposes during World War II because of Gibraltar's strategic position as the gateway to the mediterranean.

This is a monument marking were the body of Lord Nelson was brought ashore after he died at the battle of trafalgar. He's famous for spelling out on semaphore flags "England Expects Every Man to do his Duty" on the mast of the lead ship. He is also know as the conquering hero as he led the british to victory at Trafalgar.

these are replicas of the type of whiskey barrel they used to carry the body of nelson back home to England, apparently the cre drank from it and it was the best whiskey they had ever drank.

After the tour I returned to the ship to grab some lunch and then I filled out my postcards and made my way on foot into town.

3357121758_ee440ba5fd_z_d.jpg

Well I was there I made a trip to the post office to buy stamps and found out that I couldn't use euros to buy stamps only Gibraltar pound Sterling or British pound sterling. I first tried an ATM which did not want to take my Canadian card I would have sued a bank but herd from someone that I would need a passport to change money there so I just used a foreign exchange kiosk, after that I bought my stamps and mailed my postcards. I also bought a crystal version of the rock of gibraltar from the gibraltar crystal shop for my parents as it was around the time of there anniversary and I thought it was coll gift to bring back to them.

I then made my way back to the ship again and got a picture of the bow before heading on board.
3357123302_0200030edc_z_d.jpg

Inside of the "terminal" they had a large model of the rock so I got some pictures of it.

3356308535_95099dda5c_z_d.jpg

Thats pretty much all there was in the terminal except for security. I then made my way back onto the ship after passing through security I came back on the ship. Just as my card had been swiped for me to come back on I realized i had taken the crysiat out of my pocket to go through the xray machine and forgot to pick it back up. I told the Crew Member that I had forgotten something and they swiped my card again and I went back of the ship and head over to security and explained what had happened they had it sitting off to the side and handed it to me. I then headed back on to the ship and back to my stateroom.

I took some pictures of another cruise ship in the port that was docked beside us,she was a lot smaller then the Disney Magic.

A little while later it was time to head back out to see and through the straits of gibraltar. The day before had been the castaway club reception and there was a trivia question they asked how many times had the Disney Magic gone through straits of Gibraltar the answer was 2 at the time the first was when she sailed through them after being built on her way to Florida and the second was at the beginning of the summer in 2007 when she first sailed in the med. This was her third time.

The ship you see in the middle of the picture had actually gotten hit by another one earlier in the week and was't salvageable so they pumped out the oil in it before allowing it to sink.

As you can see from the front there were two things listed for entertainment that night. The on the nose thing was a game show they did between the two dinner seatings and it kind of overlapped both of them. The main entertainment was a screening of Pirates of the Caribbean at worlds end later in the main theatre.

That evening during the movie we cast off from port it was kind of neat as we we could feel the movement of the ship just as the sea battle was beginning.

After a relaxing day at Sea the next day would be Tenerife in the Cnary islands our last port before the six days at sea well crossing the atlantic.

Just a note about the show that night it was one called the Art of the story and I saw it on this one and on the Panama canal cruise it's not one of the best shows they do it seems way more thrown together then the others are probably because it's just a filler for longer voyages.

Day 7 - Disney Magic by land and by Sea - Tenerife, Canary Islands - August 24th 2007

This was the final port of call before six days at sea and Castaway Cay.
As always I will begin with the navigators for the day.

A little while later it was time for me to head out on my excursion that day a Jeep ride up Mount Teide.
