? about Dream Maker Packages

Except restaurants listed as "exclusions" or "2 wishes", they are all included. When I called to ask about this, I was actually given a neat little tip! The wishes are debited from a grand total, not a literal 2 per day/person. Children's wishes are not "worth" any less than adult's are. You are prefectly allowed to say, buy your kid's meals (since they're cheaper), and stockpile the wishes to use on adult meals :) I suppose if you don't REALLY utilize the wishes to their full extent, and get at least 2 expensive meals out of them, or 1 expensive and 1 expensive "extra" a day, it's a waste. I just personally like knowing that no matter what situation comes up, I won't starve ;)

After I totalled up all the "stuff" I had planned, for 2 kids/2 adults... a preliminary total (not even including tips, which are also included) puts me at a savings of about $300. So, if you really push it, it can be worth it. I don't know that I'd do it again for more than the peace of mind I feel knowing it's all taken care of, but at least this time I'm doing everything I want to,hehe! For example...it might not be worth it to use a wish for say, a light lunch or a quick breakfast. But, if you balance buying the $15 breakfast (for 4) with getting 6 hours of childcare and a kid's meal, which would add up to like $120 (2 kids)...well, let's just say I wouldn't be going out on an adult's night out had I not paid it off a few months ago ;)

Thanks for the info. Since we would be using the wishes for mainly character breakfasts, it probably doesn't make sense for us to get the silver package for $67 per adult and $54 per child because we are unlikely to spend over $40 per adult and $30 per child on dinners or lunches on most days.

I agree with you PAMMY, I am not doing Silver either. We are going in May for our first and I have a 4 and 5 year old. I cannot see them eating $37 worth each, each day. I think the tax and gratitituties included is a plus but I still think we would come under the $1500 for a week's stay.

The other tip I got off of the boards is to fed-x a box of snack food to your resort the day before you arrive. So I think I'll be doing the PB&J's for lunch and stuff.

Maybe I'll think of doing the package when the kids are a little older and have bigger appetites.

Thanks for starting this board. I was trying to decide myself what to do since we have to decide by March. Peace of mind is good, but keeping in a reasonable budget is also good especially when we just booked and don't have a year to put away to pay off the vacation.

Pammy,

Since you're a new user to the boards, I wanted to make sure you knew about a 'DIS Meet' that is happening relatively soon. A DIS meet is where a bunch of us here from the boards get together and talk all things Disney. There's normally food involved at some sort of restraunt. The next closest meet to us here in Wisconsin is April 12 at Gurnee Mills.

Here is a link to Dan Murphy's thread about it.

Jerzgrl - Yes, having the tax and tip included is nice, but since my hubby is a math man, he sat down and did some rough figures for me and we still will come out WAY ahead, doing it on our own.

Plus in the past we've found, that we get so flled up at a big character breakfast that we ate very little the rest of the day. You'll have little ones in tow like we will and so the spa (which would be wonderful), the watersports and such wouldn't be used.

I do think they are great for adults or older kids that have good appetites. In the future I'll be doing a mom and daughter trip with my 18 yr old, so we'd probably go that route, since we like to eat at all the fancy places.

Jfulcer- thanks for letting me know about the meet, I will probably go to that! I'm not new though, I've been around the boards for several years, just lost my password and user name, it had been a few months since I've been on, so I just created a new account! LOL

honeymo78- WOWZERS!! I can't believe you typed that all out!!! Thanks I'm printing that, because I had the same questions and CRO couldn't really give me a list, just said many places. So have that will really help for in the future.

Pammy

I didn't mind typing that stuff out - I know how hard it is to find that stuff. At least now I know that Disney does have that info and you just have to find someone who knows how to ask (like a Disney specialist travel agent).

Absolutely, I love Disney Specialist TA's!!

Also, I have had really good luck with emailing Guest Services
at WDW. I've done so about 3 times lately and had an answer
within two days!!

They've been great.

Thanks for the information about the packages. I have been trying to decide to eitherstay with the basic or try the silver. Reading the posts it seems I am better off paying for the food on our own. My DD is going to be eight and not much of an eater right now so I can not see spending that much money for food when I know she won't eat it. I did save the receipts from Dec's trip but I have yet to add them up, probably afraid to see how much we actually spent. I think we spend more on pictures than on food.

Thanks, Cindy:D

honeymo78 - Thanks so much for typing out the list! That really helps.

I'm actually leaning towards doing the silver plan now. All of us (DH, DS17,DS14) love good food. I already have a ps for a nice dinner almost every night, all at restaurants on the list. I added things up, picking things I know my family would enjoy ordering and it's looking pretty good. Not a huge savings but paying ahead and not worrying about what each meal is costing is attractive.

Could anyone who's done the silver plan tell me more about what you can order for dinner with it? Is it pretty much any thing on the menu? People keep mentioning that they were supposed to be charged for wine but weren't. Does that really happen much?

I'm also wondering if I could get La Nouba tickets at this late date ...

Thanks again for all the info! My AAA travel agent was a big help on my airline tickets, but not this!

Karen

karenrc,

Basically, everything is supposed to be included in the meals except for alcoholic beverages. (Although, as you already noted, some pixie dust sometimes is spread in this area, too.)

To check on La Nouba tickets, you can call (407) WDW-MAGIC (939-6244). You should be able to make ressies, and tell them you'll be staying on the Silver plan and plan to use a wish for payment.

Also, to anyone out there who would like a chart of exactly what meals are covered on what plan, how many wishes it takes, etc...just pm me and I'll be glad to either email you a pdf or fax it to you.

I loved the silver plan we made out ahead and it was well worth it!!! it was wonderful never having to worry about the cost of the menu and prepaying for it all...i will do it again no doubt.  :D :)

How about the Wonderland Tea Party for children at the GF? Could you use a wish for that...

Are these plans just for meals/activities, or do they include park admissions? Just wondering because we already have APs. Also, can you just include the adults in your party on the plans or do you have to include the whole gang? I have three littles ones that between them could not eat $37 a day in food.

TIA

Amy

gravymom,

At this time Disney is not offering the Silver, Gold, Platinum, or Romance plan without the UPH tickets. There is no way to seperate them, which is unfortunate for AP holders.

To answer the second question, if you book a package with WDTC then everyone in the room has to be on the same plan. If Mom and Dad are on Silver, then the kids cannot be just on the regular Dreammaker. However, if you just do room-only through CRO then add your UPH at the front desk upon check-in, they can tailor your tickets to your needs, such as having the kids not be on Silver while Mom and Dad are.

You can book a package for the adults only and just pay cash for the kids.

I don't think you can do two different packages for the adults and kids like the above poster said. We were told that you can be on the silver plan for instance and just not add the kids and pay cash for everything for them.

Greetings.. we just returned last night. We had the Silver Dream Maker plan for 3 adults ( parents and a 13yr old). Is was not worth the money!!!! Oh.. we did use the magical wishes.. but we didn't get our money's worth out it. Each wish is worth $30 . We couldn't do wishes for that value all the time. If you choose a something that doesn't cost $ 30 .. you loose the remaining amount. ( And yes...if you choose something that goes over.. you don't have to pay.... but that didn't happen every open with the 13 year old. ) A few years ago we did the Food & Fun. We thought the Silver Plan was like that. NOT. So please ..... don't book it... You can come out a head if you pay for your meals and fun on your own.

vbfamily,

I did not say you could do different packages...in fact I said:

"if you book a package with WDTC then everyone in the room has to be on the same plan"

However, if you do room-only, then you can add the tickets later...like you are suggesting as "paying cash", and the front desk of your resort will tailor the tickets to your individual needs. You can pay however you want to pay for it, but you cannot add it ahead of time.

If all of the magical wishes go toward the family total (as posted elesewhere on this thread) & do not have to be used evenly by all people, it could be a better deal. Is there any documentation from Disney that says it works that way?
