I like them! I just bought a six pack that is POG juice flavor! 😋
:crazy2: well okay I'll let that pass :) besides though I'm a dark beer kind of person (porters, stouts) and a lot of people don't understand the like for those so I get it :p It's difficult to find dark beer in restaurants unless I'm at a place that specialized in tons of beer options but I remember visiting my husband in CA and there was none to really be found unfortunately tons of IPAs though

Not a wedding, but we've set my brother's memorial service for July 8. Why then? So we can tack it on to our family's vacation. Nothing like a good cremation to start off the fun!

Seriously, it's the only way my family of 6 can make it to a ceremony celebrating his life. And he's not going anywhere at this point.
My husband's uncle passed away late last year, he lived in MN and they opted to delay any service to after the holidays because of people traveling (and well concerns over illnesses) but then ended up having a very small service where really only the family up in MN attended a few weeks later. Their original reasoning for delaying it til after the holidays was also basically he wasn't going anywhere as well.

But my husband still sometimes mentions the time where his snooty (not my words his words but having been around them in person they fit the description) cousin, wife and their kids asked for a service to be delayed because they were going to a beach vacation and didn't want to cancel. I got it but it also sounded horrible the way it came out to everyone.

Actually it had potential to be a GREAT thread on everyone's "how do you do vacation?"

Unfortunately the parameters were so narrow that myself and many others were asked not to respond :confused3cause I guess we never fell into those parameters and know nothing of the subject that was worth contributing.

While I do not fit the parameters I do travel very economically, very much focused on saving money and try to keep up with travel deals and ideas. But like you my contributions do not meet criteria.

Perhaps we need a new thread! :grouphug: Although now that the title has changed I suppose anything goes.
I’d join in on that topic!! You should start it!!! I come to this forum for advice and guidance no matter who has what or who earns what. The money in your pocket isn’t an indicator of whether you’re good folk or not. I’ve noticed a few posts recently that ostracize those not on a budget.

The money I spend at Disney is hands down the best money I ever spent.

I am cracking up at this!!!

Great thread. I love how it completely went haywire

*cough* post #68 *cough* 😇

Nah, that’s where the drama started. But what was the actual first post? What was the thread supposed to be about? Nobody ever quoted it, then it got deleted, so most of us will never know what got the OP in such a tattling mood. Doesn’t seem like anyone was sarcastic or nasty. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The OP was asking how middle class people that make under 100k a year with a mortgage payment/car payment and have expenses related to raising children how they can do yearly vacations (not specifically Disney but could also be Disney as well). They then got mad that people who make over 100k a year responded.

I'll also add they basically dismissed the attempts (even from the beginning) of trying to discuss how that dollar amount affects different people depending on where they live.

Like I mentioned in a subsequent comment for a family of 4 just under $78K is considered low income in my metro according to HUD. I have no idea where the OP lives but it very well could be they are considered middle class in their area but would be considered low income in my area 🤷‍♀️

I was intrigued by the "title" of this thread so I clicked on it....but thread isn't closed? Anything goes now? I'm seeing butter churners, meat grinders, kitchenaid, toaster over.....this is some serious interesting Disney thread!🤣🤣🤣
Oh my I feel so much guilt in this derailment when you put it that way, discussing my appliances. BUT in all honestly all those things help save money so there is more for the Mouse.

Someone should mention a wedding and then we'll have a quintessential DIS derailed thread.

You wouldn't believe the things we did to save TONS of money on a wedding .... so there is more money for the Mouse. (staying on topic)

PS Where did you procure POG juice? :flower3:

Priceless and I'd be all for that.

Now to the relatives that keep having their weddings on holidays, STOP. Not only do I like my holidays but traveling on those holidays are PEAK costs. Less money for the Mouse.

OP deleted but of course it was quoted so ...

For those that make $100k or less per year combined AND have the following:
*Mortgage or rent payment (If you don't have a mortgage/rent payment...well then you are lucky and probably not in the norm here for this scenario of middle class)
*Kids and their expenses
*At least 1 car payment
(plus the normal groceries/utilities/insurance/etc)

Then other posts deleted were OP getting upset with folks not following the rules then commenting on their commenting. Then they were yelling at people, saying they were rude and saying they were reporting everyone who didn't follow the rules or said something they didn't like. Reporting is not for tattle tailing.

Well thanks! Who would have thought that topic would cause so much drama?! No wonder no one quoted the OP. 😂

I'm not married yet and haven't ever been married but all of these threads about weddings make my head spin LOL Half of me wants to just do something low key so I can do a cool honeymoon somewhere.

The only place I've seen POG juice itself for sale is in a Piggily Wiggly in South Carolina. I saw a POG juice flavored IPA at Publix and was like "Eh why not?"

Me too!! Not even Fremont street is cheap anymore!🤦🏼‍♀️ I used to love going to those hole in the wall casino there where their machines were still spitting out quarters when you win! But I think they may have all closed by now after the pandemic??🤔
Yeah Fremont seems to be trying to spiffy themselves up but Circa is a nice hotel. Whenever my best friend goes to Vegas (it's been a few years for her) she would stay at 4 Queens or Golden Nugget. For us..I must say we got spoiled by really good targeted deals and comp nights for the Wynn/Encore but we have stayed at Excalibur too.

Quarters are kinda a bygone thing, the machines still do a sound but majority are just electronic tickets even off the Strip and casinos we've visited in the Vegas surrounding area (we kinda like to tour random casinos and they do have better odds).

Now last time we were in Vegas this past September they still were not giving out change at the machine (an action brought on by the pandemic) so you still had to go to the cashier to get that and you bet I totally did that. Many people leave that electronic slip for $2.14 but oh no not me listen that stuff adds up ::yes:: . I just would put the change in my purse and when we get home it goes in our coin tub :)

Thanks! What very specific criteria! I don’t think in all my years on the Dis I’ve ever seen a poster so specific about who could respond to their thread. Or get so upset when others did. 😳

I just have to say that it is actually kind of nice to have a thread like this. I often read posts that makes me want to go down a rabbit hole and force myself not to (most of the time). I like the CB because it is much more accepted.

Fun, random banter is good for the soul. Thanks for the laughs :)

P.S. In no way is mine meant to be picking on the OP. I've had my feelings hurt plenty of times on here and to some extent understand that she was unhappy it went a different direction than her intent.

Thank you for clarifying.

We have been using 10X Insiders Travel and following the free course offered by The Points Guy. I was skeptical at first but have joined the FB group and lurked long enough to make my own redemptions. I see that others have posted about points and miles, as well.

There are people in the group who have both partners that are teachers and still make great redemptions. It does require being able to pay off the card off each month so that absolutely no interest is paid. We just put what we regularly spend on credit cards and pay the bill. With two teenaged boys, gas, food, entertainment, etc. helps meet the minimum spend on cards that give points.

Before that, we just saved up for our trips. There was a big trip every other year and a less expensive trip in between while we saved.

Same. And income is based on the COL in your area. 100 K in some areas is a lot of money, but in others, people can still live paycheck to paycheck or not be able to save.
