We just got back from an Alaska cruise a week ago. It was always some place I wanted to go but DW really had no interest. The prerequisite was a ship with a Casino...lol.
I hate to speak for my DW but I can only say that it was incredible and beyond our wildest dreams. We enjoyed it so much we can't wait to go again....we'd even like to drive and see the interior. The only other cruising I have done is on Disney. While I like the Disney ship better.....IMHO Alaska destroys any itinerary out of Port Canaveral. All I would say is give it a chance.

You can speak for me, I feel the same!
Honestly, this was one of those things I did for Chris. I am as far from an outdoors girl as you can get, HATE cold and anything remotely winter (which really sucks living in Canada!!). I was a TA and sold Alaska cruises to clients and seriously thought they were crazy! This was my 8th cruise, the previous 7 all Caribbean, I had no desire to cruise anywhere but!
I wouldn't say he brought me kicking and screaming but I wasn't as excited as I could have been for sure. It changed for me the first morning we woke in Ketchikan, I opened the curtains and stepped on the balcony into paradise. The mountains, the scenery, the peaceful calm....it was unlike anything I ever saw in my life. It was so nice to stroll the shops in port without anyone begging for money or wanting to braid my hair!!!
The rest of the cruise was more awe inspring moments, one after another.
I can't wait to go back and see more, I fell in love with Alaska. And truly it wasn't cold!
And yes, for those wondering....I did tell Slapwhitey he was right (a rare occasion -- that he was right!). It was the most amazing place I had ever seen.
