:scratchin I have been reading how the "All Hands on Deck" Platter is a MUST for room service. For those who have ordered this, what is it? I'm sooo curious and excited to know what the hype is all about. Any picture would be appreciated too. I am a food fanatic! Yum, yum, yum!

Cheers!

This is a cheese, cracker, and fruit plus cookie platter that sometimes appears magically in my stateroom but, most often, is available through room service. I have read that the platter is occasionally less than stellar in its contents but I have never been disappointed.

We ordered it. There were no cookies on it, but the cheese crackers and fruit is correct. It is ok. It didn't seem very fresh when we got it. Cookies are completely separate on the room service menu.

1st the crackers were oval ritz....... There were 4 different cheeses (I have no idea what) but I did like 2 of them. In the middle of the plate there were purple grapes. It was O.K. but then again it's room service, it's FREE and they bring it right to you.

We enjoyed this on several occasions, but we were much more addicted to the plate of chocolate chip cookies. Now, these were AMAZING!!! Each time we ordered (often) we said there were 5 or 6 kids instead of 2, so we could have more. :goodvibes

You have to order the cookies seperately, but they are also free.

Remember soda does cost with room service, but ice tea and milk are free (DH and I had ice tea and the kids had milk).

We ordered a few of these on our cruise and each time it was a little different. We did have Ritz crackers one time, but the others we had a wheat cracker (much nicer). Sometimes there was brie or blue cheese, but we always got an Edam and Cheddar. We ordered it as a late afternoon snack for the whole family. Between the four types of cheeses, grapes and crackers, there was something for all of us, including our DD4 and DD2.

We order this as a nightcap every night. We usually order 2 All Hands on Deck and 2 fruit bowls. Make sure you order it by name. One night DH just asked for crackers and thats exactly what we received, a package of crackers.

Can you request that blue cheeese not be put on the platter? One daughter is allergic to penicillin and her doctor will not allow her to have any form of blue cheese

I want to hear more about these Yummy cookies. Are the Chocolate chip or some other kind? And how many in an order? and are they average size, big or HUGE?

I ordered the All Hands on Deck platter when I got on board (because of these boards) and was highly dissapointed. A few different pieces of cheese, a few different crackers and some grapes. I don't get it!?! Even though it's free, once you've tipped, you've paid for it. I thought that it was some big elaborate cheese and cracker platter. Instead, it wasn't even enough to be considered a snack for three. Just my opinion.

DH and I have ordered "All Hands On Deck" several times. On our first Magic cruise they would give you a small cup of walnuts in addition to the cheese, crackers and grapes. But last time we didn't see any walnuts. But we were still pleased with the tray. Yes, it's small...it's not meant to be a "meal" but a "snack." If you want more than one tray, to feed 3 people, you're free to order more. DH and I always shared one, it was "just enough" for the two of us. The chocolate chip cookies are wonderful too, big and soft and delicious!

We really enjoyed the all hands on deck, but it was very small. If you want to feed more than one person, order TWO!!!

We have order the cheese platter several time over our 13 DCL cruises and each time it comes it is a bit different...sometimes it looks great, sometimes it looks like it was thrown together...but it has always tasted great.

Sometimes you get different cracker varieties, sometimes different fruit, sometimes you get the walnut, sometimes you don't....

There are usually 5 different cheeses on the tray...let's see if I can remember..

Cheddar
Swiss
Blue
Gouda
Brie

Here is a pic....this one is not looking that great, but I have gotten them when they look much better!! But as I said...if you like cheese, it is always delicious!! It is not meant to feed an entire family, just a snack for 2 or so...I always found it fed more than 2.

It is on a dinner sized plate. I could care less how it looks...as long as it taste good!!!

we enjoyed this platter! we were at the late seating for dinner - so we would order this while we got dressed and enjoy it before we went to the show

I understand what everyone is saying about "just order two". But, that really wasn't the point that I was trying to make. I was under the impression by the way many Dissers "raved" about it, that it was something above and beyond the norm. To me it was just crackers, cheese and grapes. Now when people rave about Castaway Cay, I understand why. Having taken over 13 cruises, I can't say that I have been to a beach that was more beautiful. Having eaten cheese and crackers before, after eating AHOD, I can say "been there, done that, no big deal". I recommended that my cruise partners order one each for their cabins. When they did (and I saw it), I was embarrassed that I had raved about it (and that they had to pay $2 in tipsfor it). Don't get me wrong, I totally love DCL and this was my 2nd trip and I'm planning on taking a third next year, I just feel that some things are a little overrated, that's all.

You bring up a good point...you are correct in that many people rate things differently and sometimes these boards set people up for disappointment because we all feel differently about things...what I might rave about, someone else may think it is just OK. Everyone should read these boards and come to their own conclusions. If everyone went onboard with super high expectatations and then some things were not how they thought they would be, they would be disappointed.

Everyone who vacations at all should go with the thought "your mileage may vary" because everyone's experiences will be different!!!

I am sure you can...as I said...it comes differently each time...but if you specifically ask for something to be added or deleted, I am sure they will accommodate you if at all possible.
