Elon Musk is an African American.
Yeah, technically you are correct.
But the child of a Canadian mother and a white South African father who moved to Canada at age 17, took Canadian citizenship and then, later, moved to the US and took American citizenship does not fit the image you are portraying by calling him an African American.

He is an African American. And he did have his choice of several countries to set up shop in.

Speaking from experience, socialised health care is a mixed blessing. Everyone caring for everyone else, picking up the slack when needed so everyone has access to care is a great thing. It has saved my butt dozens of times. But people quickly get disenfranchised with the tax increases that come with such a system. Cake, eat it, etc.
As another Brit, I found it astonishing to learn that the US government spends MORE per capita on healthcare than the UK government does. Effectively, the UK government spends less but is able to provide its citizens with comprehensive health care. Yes, wait times for non urgent procedures may be longer, but private healthcare is an option for those who wish to purchase it and is much less expensive than the US. I’ve never had to worry about cost when going to the doctor or getting prescription medication. I can’t even imagine what it must be like to have that problem living in the US.

Also, for the people suggesting that socialised healthcare means that the government has control over the healthcare people receive in the UK, that simply isn’t true. Yes the NHS is publicly funded but the government doesn’t stop you from getting the treatment that you want subject to funding constraints, whether that is on the NHS or privately. The highly publicised cases were as a result of the courts intervening, not the government, and similar procedures are set up in the US.

Dictionary.com disagrees. It's used in the US as a more PC term for Black.

Just FYI, you can go to Cambridge difctionary or Merriam Webster and they cite similar definitely but say ancestors from Africa, especially of "dark skin." So...I wouldn't count too much on definitions. Also, it says from Africa the continent.

Just another word to divide people - like it's doing here! yay!

Where do ultra wealthy Brits go when they want the best and most technologically advanced healthcare in the world? Wouldn't you think the people that can afford anything would gravitate towards the highest standard of care in the world?

African American is the current politically correct term for dark skinned people of African heritage in America. "Black" was deemed offensive by some, even though it is still widely used by the African American community. In America every few years they find a new term to deem offensive so our politically correctness is constantly adjusting prevalent vernacular. While Musk is technically an African American, he is not really by the politically correctness standards.

For example I used the term "alternative lifestyle" on here a few weeks back and was properly lambasted for using an offensive term for the LGTBQ+ community. I had no idea, but now can see how some would find that offensive as it assumes my lifestyle is normal and theirs is alternative. It's just what we do in America, a bunch of people constantly looking for something to be offended by.

Ever see a baby learning to do new things? How proud they are and how funny it is to watch them try so hard? Trying so, so hard. Laughter is the best medicine.

were shot during a neighborhood block party on July 1. It was supposed to be a celebration. Half the victims were - once again - children.

Regretfully it was also a unpermitted event and local law enforcement is now concerned about retaliatory actions regarding the ones involved indicating possible gang activity as the cause of the shooting. Currently looking for multiple shooters.

Yup. The one person entered this thread, not by posting at first, but by passive aggressively posting laughing emjois to things he doesn't agree with....and so when I see that, I know the thread is about to go south with childish posts. There's a mean spiritedness to the dialogue in our society these days....and it's in these threads as well.
