Angelrose's Journey

Cape May sounds like fun - sounds like you & Joan could get into trouble together
Poor Zoey. Yeah, sometimes they need some of the swelling to go down to see if there is a break. At least they're treating it like a break or muscle tear by casting it. Crutches are no fun!

4nana - your granddaughter is very pretty. Love her dress - & the wrist corsage is beautiful - good job!

It's official, Zoey has a broken leg. She is in a cast now for 6 weeks. At least she is not in any pain at all.

Angel n Minnie, thank you for the compliments about our GD :goodvibes. She's a sweetie and love her bunches! :lovestruc

Oh my, sorry to hear Zoey broke her leg :worried:. Looks like she's all smiles and wishing her a speedy recovery :shamrock:. Our 15yo DGS sprained his ankle last mo playing soccer, he was in a soft cast 2 wks, then a booth. After few wks of therapy he was back at soccer. Can't hold these kiddos down for long.

Angel, your adventure to Camp May and all the shops sounds wonderful - I would love to do that one day :-)! Our #3DGSon will be doing his basic camp there this summer. This last semester he's been working diligently on earning a Coast Guard scholarship and we're very proud he was one of the 40 students selected to participate in his last 2 yrs of college. :thumbsup2

Thanks 4nana and minniecarousel. Zoey loves her pink and purple cast and grandmom had to sign on the pink. She will get the cast off July 1 and then wear a boot for a couple of weeks and then the PT. It looks like a long summer.

Hope you all had a great holiday weekend. Mine started with the Mystery Tea on the 28th. It was called Sinister Sleepover and we all wore our jammies. Joan and I carried small teddy bears. LOL I read my script and got a lot of laughs. I had no idea that I was the murderer! They announced it at the end of the tea. So I said, "I'm glad she's dead, she DESERVED it". That got even bigger laughs. We all had a fun time and I can't wait until next year to see what we have in store for us.

On the 29th, I went over to Chuck's for my birthday. I am now 71. We all had a great time and lots of laughs even before we went to Red Robin for lunch. We went to see The X Men and we all really enjoyed that. We came home and rested for a hour and then we all went to Dairy Queen for dessert. I got home around 8 and was ready for bed! I laughed so much that my face hurt.

You all know I've been having trouble with my hip, so today I made the decision to get it replaced. I go back to Rothman in July and I will ask him to get me an appointment with the surgeon. Karen informed me that she will be going with me to the surgeon, will take me to the hospital and stay with me until I get out of surgery. Then she will take me to her house for a couple of days. I have no say in the matter at all. ALl I did was say, "yes mommy" to her. LOL If all goes well I will get my other hip replaced a couple of months later. I hope to have the first one done in January and the other done in March, but I have to wait and see if that fits in with the surgeons schedule.

But right now he gave me Celebrex to help with the pain by reducing the inflammation.

Right now I'm concentrating on our upcoming trip to Disney in October. Only 123 days away!

Ahhh...Mary, my oldest sister had a hip replacement a few years ago. She needed a knee replacement, but before they could do that, she needed the opposite hip replaced. Not sure which joint was over compensating. The recovery for the hip was much easier than the knee. The knee had much more PT. I'm betting you'll do well. (Haha, says Dr. Julie!) Keep us posted.

My brother had triple bypass surgery today. The surgeon told my sis-in-law that it looked like he had had a heart attack at some point! So they're saying that his "stroke" saved his life. And his triplets graduated from HS last week!

Thanks Dr. Julie. LOL I have heard that hip replacement is a lot easier than the knee. In fact he told me that PT for hip is just to keep walking. I can do that. That Celebrex seems to be helping a lot. I have no pain while walking. But I don't want to push it, so I'm not doing much walking. I might try doing 5,000 steps this weekend. I'll know soon enough if that is a bad choice.

Angelrose, belated :bday:, sounds like a fun one w/your loving family :rockband:! You have me beat by a year :D!! Sorry to hear about your hip and good the med is helping. What a blessing you have plenty of help when you decide to have the surgery.

Minnie, strange a stroke can help save your life and best wishes for your DB's successful recovery. How wonderful he got to see his triples graduate HS :-)!! Feel the pride, as we go to N.C. next week to our DGD's graduation. Can't wait, so proud of her accomplishments! :lovestruc

Thank you 4nana. I really can't wait to have it done. No more pain sounds pretty good to me right about now.

Minniecarousel, hope your brother is feeling better and continues to improve.

Good luck with your hip surgery. Yes, Hips are usually much easier to recover. Glad the Celebrex is helping for now. Your trip is coming up soon! Jealous!! LOL

Thanks rndmr2. I am counting the days until we go away. 120 more days. I really hate to use a scooter but I have no choice.

I can't believe it's been 7 years since I lost my Ron. I have been able to remember all the fun times we had together and smile and not cry. I miss him and his hugs. I do believe that love lives on and that we will be together in the future.

I want to thank each and every one of you with sticking with me all these years and all the encouragement and love you have sent me. I don't know how I would have made it without you.

Oh Mary! 7 years! I didn't recall that it had been that long. You are a very strong woman with a terrifically supportive family. I've loved reading of your adventures with them. Your trip reports and pix are something I always look forward to.

Thank you minnie carousel. I try to be strong and most of the time I succeed. Just every once in a while, I just break down. Not often now, just every once in a while. Especially if there is a scene on tv in similar circumstances. I do have such a great family. They make me laugh and that gets me through a lot.

My new trip report will be in October. Just 4 days for the food and wine festival and the Halloween parade. 107 days and counting.

Angelrose, I cannot believe it's been 7yrs since your beloved Ron began his spiritual journey. He would be so proud how far you've come and all the wonderful times and vacations you've had with your family. He is smiling from above and so proud of you . Keep up the good work as his loving memories warm your heart forever. :lovestruc

Which sadly brings me too - I could use some prayers dear friends :worried: ~

Friday morn my loving soulmate, Bob, suffered a stroke :sad1:. He got up, had no balance, terrible pain in the right side of his head and eye, couldn't swallow and told me he thought he was having a stroke. Being in such excellent health, no heart problems, no high BP, normal cholesterol and always great bld work, etc. - I could not believe my ears! I gave him a dissolved baby aspirin, keep him calm and comfortable till the ambulance arrived. Altho I was a mess, I managed to stay calm for his sake.

To make a long story short, after many specialists and tests, he indeed did have a Wallenburg Syndrome Stroke. I have never ever heard of this kind of stroke, but the drs confirm, of all the strokes, this is the one to have with a very promising recovery, as the brain can miraculously remap itself. The right side of his head, face and eye are numb, and mouth partially, as is the right side of his body weak, but his speech by some miracle is mostly normal. His recovery thus far has been nothing short of a miracle as he surprises his medical team daily. Yesterday was a mild stone as he was cleared to begin eating small amts of soft food. He has not been able to stand, today he was able to do a short trip on a walker, with the help of 2 therapists by is side. I am praising God and counting my blessings it was apparently a mild stroke and he is such a positive thinker and fighter. Tomorrow he will be admitted to Inova Rehab, which altho is quite a distance from our home, his neuro says it has an excellent reputation, and family agrees whatever it takes for his well being is definitely what we'll do!

He has promised me he will dance with me on his 80th BD in Sept :lovestruc! Thank God for my loving children, SonIL's, and extended family in my time of great need - not sure I'd survived this without their never ending support and they see that I take care of myself too. I am on the road or at the hospital, but will keep you updated as time allows. Thank you, I would truly appreciate if you kept my soulmate, Bob, in your positive thoughts and prayers.
Godspeed :littleangel:

Thank you so much for the kind words 4nana.

Of course I will send prayers for Bob . His recovery is amazing and I'm sure he will keep his promise to dance with you on his 80th birthday.

4nana - prayers for your Bob. The adrenaline kicks in when it needs to, doesn't it? Sending good thoughts for a full recovery!

My brother who had a mild stroke is doing really well. He saw his triplets graduate from HS & his triple by-pass was successful & unremarkable. (Yay! For "boring"!) In fact, they say the stroke saved his life. They would have never known about any heart problems if he hadn't had that mild stroke.
