August Exercise Challenge - Moving Through The Dog Days Of Summer - 25 challengers!

The challenge is on. And it's a challenge by you to you! Challenge yourself to do "x" number of minutes of exercise this month and then JUST DO IT!

Post here as frequently as you like and I will start a list in this post and keep it updated as frequently as I can throughout the month. As you post, please tell me how many minutes you have through that date and what your total challenged number is. For example "I did 60 minutes on the treadmill yesterday, and am now at 60/1200".

As you reach milestones for the month, your name and total will change color in this post.
At 10%, you'll be bright pink
When you reach 25%, you'll be orange
When you reach 50%, you'll be purple
When you reach 75%, you'll be turquoise
At 90%, you'll be red (because you are on fire!)
When you hit 100%, you'll be WISH green!

So, let's go, everyone! Post your self-challenge, and I'll make the list here, and then let's watch the list change color!

Okay, here we go.

August's goal is the same as June and July... 1600 minutes.

I've got 100 miles to run again, so that is about 1200 minutes and I need to come up with 400 minutes of cross training.

I'm trying again this month for 700 minutes. I was actually a little closer to this goal in July compared to June so I'm sticking with it.

Got my first small workout in - 2 miles on the treadmill this morning

Just finished 45 minutes on elliptical and 25 on weights so 70/1600. Woohoo! Thanks Ted

Add another 10 minutes. My son started first year of football. He woke up and said he had to go for a five minute jog, do push-ups, sit-ups, and practice stance. So who joined him?

I'm in again and even though I didn't make my goal for July, I'm still going to shoot for 500 again!

I have to say that even though I missed the target, these threads really helps keep me motivated-so thanks!!:)
 
I am in for 1600 minutes. I am in the last month of 1/2 marathon training and hope my "long runs" will help me meet that goal.

Oh, and I had a good start. This morning's workout:
10 mins elliptical (warm-up)
45 mins personal training (kettle bells, push-ups, assisted pull-ups)
40 mins bike

So far I am at 95/1600

This time around, I'm going to bump it up to 2000. I passed that last month, but we'll be traveling some so who knows? :confused3 I'm also going to do the walk to Disney challenge on another thread. I'm cheating and using my stats for the last year, but that way I'll really "make it" before we actually go there!

75/2000 minutes so far!

Off to a good start:
58 min zumba
26 min elliptical
50 min piyo

Which puts me at 134/1800.

In June and July, I had a goal of 1680 (an hour a day/6 days a week). Exceeded the goal both months so I guess I had better bump up the goal. Plus, I still have some weight to shed. I'm loving my classes at the gym so that's a big bonus! My goal for August is 2000 minutes :)
 
July was my first month to participate so I wasn't sure of a goal number. Since I surpassed that goal I will push out from there to challenge myself.

Goal will be 1000 minutes.

Please add me again for 1200 minutes...surely I will get closer to that number this month.
 
Being a glutton for punishment, I will go for 2000 minutes again. And will try to make it this month.

Our dog days have grown to a full kennel around here - more 100 temps in the week to come. :sad2:

Went out for a run/walk this afternoon. 45 mins and 2.91 miles. :cool1:

I don't know how you guys do it in the heat and can only say good job. It was 72 degrees and I thought it was HOT.

I am in for this month. I didn't get to my goal but I did better than I thought I would. I will be gone to DW for 8 days so I may not get the minutes in but I will definitely get the steps in.

I am shooting for 1000 minutes and 310000 steps for the month

Ran 2 miles on the local middle school track tonight with DD #2 (she ran a mile - staying with me on a lap and then taking a lap off).

Lots of run, and another 24 minutes

4 of 100 miles for the month

All progress and goals updated so far - 14 of us signed up already.
