Standard view rooms do not usually offer good views but having standard view assures that no matter what room you get, you will not feel ripped-off point-wise, and thus, if you are able to get it at 7-months out, keeping it is a wise choice. That ripped-off feeling can easily arise with Theme Park view if you are put into one of the lower floor TP rooms, whose views are mainly of the parking lot. We usually get Lake View. Although some lower view LV rooms are not that great for views (although even then usually adequate) you have a very good chance of getting a "higher floor" request met, which rooms have good views.
Thanks everybody for your help. We kept the standard room and we ended up on the 4th floor. We could see the lake and if you looked through the trees you could see the top of Cinderella Castle. Def not disappointed for the points.
