Canadian Buffoon's Hi Low Vacation - South Central Musings

No one else worries about such, no need for you to be doin' so.

Got it.
I can be as rude as I want to you.

Well, I wont be winning anyway so I'm indifferent on the point...

So you want others to have stale cookies.
Check.

It's such an off the wall lead in line that I figure everyone is laughing too hard to even hear Shepard's narration afterward. But it stuck with me to the point where it's part of my regular phraseology.

Could be.
But I'm going to listen for it now.

Clearly... you even spelled it wrong.
it's "South'rn"
Just like it's pronounced.
Common mistake; similar to using three syllable when to saying: "Florida"
It's only got two so it ought to be spelled "Flor'da"

I stand corrected.

Oh. Sorry.

I st'nd c'rr'ct'd.

Better?
(Whoops! "B'tt'r?)

Where y'all like to maintain all those silent "U"s for posterity's sake...
we remove superfluous vowels and syllables where possible.

Seems... efficient.

I do not doubt this fact for even an instant.

::yes::

Very probably...

;)

I'm sure you are aware, but WestJet has a pretty good sale on right now. So good in fact, we *might* be about to book another trip...

Nope! Not I.
The word "macaroon" implies coconut.

pkondz does not do coconut.

Ever.

Actually I used to say the same thing. Until about a month and a half ago. While there is a Coconut Macaroon (and it just looks nasty to me), French Macaroons are made with Almond Flour (hence the Gluten Free) and they are absolutely delicious! I can't believe that I was missing out on this treat all these years. Here are the first ones that I tried from a cart at DTD in August.

One of the very few Steve Martin

Guess I'll have to fix that.

Let me know what you think when you get a roundtuit.

So by definition,
that makes you virtuous, too. Right?

Does that disappoint you?

Can you be here Sunday?

One of these days someone's actually going to say yes. I'll be curious as to your reaction/action.

I can type now.
That's an improvement.

When I start making tons
of typos... that's usually a sign
that I'm done.

Exactly me too. The Typo Wall.

I tried. I really tried.
I came on here to do shout-outs.
I'm so tired I can't even think straight.

Think I'll wait on the morrow.

Night, folks.

OK, I got one better for you. This morning while checking the DIS on my phone, I was miffed that you hadn't responded to my post last night. Then I sat down at my computer and it was still up on the screen, like I didn't finish and post it. So I finished it and posted it. Then I went back to see what I had missed in the two pages that popped up since last night.

Lo and behold my post was there. Finished. And you had answered it. I must have answered the last couple questions from my phone on the way to bed or something.

But wait! Now I want to change my answers to a couple questions! Seems good nights sleep and a hearty workout in the pool have given me new *smarts*.

Question 5, on the bus wait:

Because you spent so much time at the park, everyone left at the same time as you causing a big ole line at the bus. You were in the back of tthe line and they filled up the first bus and had to call another to get the rest of the passengers.

Question 8, FP+

7DMT, Haunted Mansion and Space

Question 9, Wildlife

Armadillo

Not allowed to plan any trips!
Who
are you?!?!?

The person who still has stuff in her old house 28 months AFTER moving out. And the one losing thousands of dollars a month by it not being rented.

And plan some trips!

Well we are planning to buy some BLT points so that we can stay there on September 29 - October 7 2021. That's all I can plan for at this time until we get our stuff out of the old house.

Free on Sunday?

Why yes, actually.

But then... first on/last off.

Hence why we have never seen the first bag come up on the carousel.

Ah! I might consider that,
but I'm too cheap to pay for it!
(And yet I'll pay for the Plus... hmmmm...)

When you consider First Class seats on any other airline, and then you multiply the cost of three Southwest tickets, you save several thousand dollars. Plus then we don't worry about their "person of size" rule and get embarrased if they ask us to leave the plane.

I live on the prairies,
so I've never seen any IRL.

We don't get them here much. I think I saw them on a trip to/from Vegas, or maybe I was in Denver.

First on/last off.

Do I hear an echo?????

I use my fingers.
Sometimes my toes.
That gets me all the way to 21.

You're a sick puppy.

You have more time, though.
I was in Disney for 3.5 days.

I couldn't afford to waste a half day.

If we're flying for that long, it's going to take Fran out for at least two days, we need to stay long enough for her to get going again. The only time we would do a trip for 3 days would be to the Bay Area for my parents.

I do it solely for the TR.
I specifically note the time I arrive
and the time the bus (or whatever)
arrives, then note them down
as I ride.

I tried to remember for the last WDW trip and we would be standing at the Bus Stop and I'd be like, "Crap! What time did we get here?" Unfortunately all I got in response was blank stares.

Says the girl who won the last contest.

Yeah, I think I did better when I didn't think about my answers as much.

Nice start to the trip. That Plus seating looks great, worth the extra cost, i'm sure.

Nice close room at the resort. We were at a close room like that at POP last time, we were in the 2nd and 3rd room down a hall just like that by the Hippy pool.

looking forward to the next update :surfweb:

1. So... what'd I do before even going in?----------Take a Round trip ride on the Monorail

(Back by popular demand)
Did you see it? Be vaguely specific.
Saying yes ain't gonna work.
----------------yes, Snarky is much more fun than the Friendly skies!

My Big Fat Canadian Bonus:
I ride Disney transportation
eighteen times this trip,
including two trips on DME/dud.
You already know the first three
had wait times totalling 26 minutes.
(3 for DME + 23 for park buses.)
I've also told you that my luck
wasn't as good as my previous trips.

Armed with that information...

What is my total time spent waiting
for Disney Transportation?

-------------------------------------------------146 minutes (I didn't go back to see if anyone else picked that one)
Closest guess wins.
No duplication of guesses,
first come first served.
No changes allowed.
All guesses must be in
before September 15 update.
(After the next update.)

I stand corrected.

Oh. Sorry.

I st'nd c'rr'ct'd.

Better?
(Whoops! "B'tt'r?)
See! You can speek South'rn.
Now, we say "better" just the way you do, but "c'rr'ct'd" it pretty close to actual, pronunciation wise.
That one also illustrates just how "ain't" came to be spelled and used in the the way it is down here.
From "am not" you get "a'n't" and through plain laziness the first apostrophe morphed over time into an "i"

We're short staffed!! Yay!
That means I'm all by my lonesome.
My sorta-supervisor was kind enough
to stay for a couple hours so
I could at least get a meal break.

Otherwise it's gonna have to be
whenever I can squeeze a minute or two.

But it will be up tonight.
It will!

Even if that means putting
out a less than stellar product.

But that's never stopped me before...
:faint:

Hi there!
Sorry for taking so long
to get this update up and running.
meh you've still got me beat.

There was a point during my travels,
when I considered chucking
the whole TR and just not writing it.
giphy.gif

(And before you start celebrating,
I am writing it. So you're stuck with me.)
:cheer2::jumping1:party:

Moooooving on.

:rolleyes2

I had my card! Yay!
:dancer:

I finally fell asleep around 1:45am
Which meant that it really sucked
when the alarm went off at 2:15am.
 OUCH!

Not only was Ruby letting me go by myself,
but she was getting up at the crack of OMG
to drive me.
That is a woman that seriously needs a trip to the Grand Floridian Spa! ::yes::

:wave2: Snarky Skies sound fun!

You'd think there'd be more people around
at four o'clock in the morning, wouldn't you?
At an airport ::yes::

giphy.gif

Do not, under any circumstances,
buy new shoes and not break them in
before going to Disneyworld.
......
giphy.gif

Got it now?
::yes::

I glanced to my right and...
Yep. Incorrect sign is still there.
giphy.gif

but you could read the
excitement and wonder on
everyone's faces!!
Yay!!! We're going to Disneyworld!!!

IMG_1673_zpsu5r5wvjk.jpg
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: I don't know, some of those look like they might be Florida locals coming home from Disneyland:rotfl2:

Eventually, the bag did arrive however.
:thumbsup2

I did not have as good bus service
as I'd experienced the last two trips.
Well, sigh your luck was bound to run out sometime. ::yes::

It was sold out!
There was nothing at POP.

Remember that fax I had
Touring Plans send for me?
No?
:sad2:

I got my second choice.
:thumbsup2

Yup!
The absolute closest room to the buses
and Melody Hall.
:thumbsup2

You're still reading?
::yes:::wave2:

You don't really think
I went to bed do you?
Magic Kingdom has late EMH tonight!
Open 'til Midnight.
Let's go!!!!
Thats more like it!

Little did I know that my return
bus ride was going to have an
even longer wait!
Well you weren't at Pop.

So guess what was the first thing
I did upon arriving at MK?
It's something that I'd never
done before.
And it was even before I actually
went through the tunnel
and entered the park proper!
(But after security and the tapstiles.)

1. So... what'd I do before even going in?
Stop for a photopass picture in front of the train station. (I ALWAYS forget to get one there!)

2. I have an ADR... where is it?
:scratchin Tony's You want to get your Daughter a replacement Lady and the Tramp Card from when she lost it.

3. What's the first ride I go on?
Space

4. Considering my lack of sleep,
how late do I stay at MK?
Till just after the fireworks

5. Why is my wait for a bus 16 minutes?
Because you were too exhausted to wait out the crowds inside the park

6. How many times was I asked for directions?
(It just happens to me.)
3

7. Dole whip. Yes or no? (as in did I have one.)
no

8. Why yes, I do have FPs. Where to?
Space Mountain Splash Moutain Mine Train

9. What wild animal do I encounter
back at the resort?
bird

10. Who's your favourite TR writer?
You're one of them of coarse!

Bonus:
(Back by popular demand)
Did you see it? Be vaguely specific.
Saying yes ain't gonna work.
::yes:: See above.

:sad1: I'm rusty apparently!

One fringe benefit of going downtown
was that I was driving right past a
Cookies by George store.
If you don't know what that is,
or haven't tried them...

GET SOME.

They have locations in
Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg,
Regina and Vancouver.
Sadly I did not notice Cookies by George when I was in Calgary last summer. Perhaps one day they will come east. The picture looks good.

the Finale of America's Got Talent
with Ruby.
(I figured the winner had to be between
two people, and I was right.)
I haven’t watched that one often. I thought it was interesting that it’s America’s Got Talent but none of the judges are American. I’m still hooked on Survivor. I’m enjoying the new season so far. DD and I watch it, one of the few things she sits with me to do. I wasn’t sure of the GenX vs Millennials theme, but I have fun making of the Millennials and DD makes fun of GenX, so it’s added a bit to the experience.

We got to the airport in good time.
It's amazing how little traffic
there is at 3am
Ever roll up to a red light at 3am with absolutely nobody around? Isn’t it tempting just to go on through?

Once airborne, I settled in
and watched the movie, Joy.
If you haven't seen it, it stars Jennifer Lawrence
as the real life Joy Mangano, a self-made
millionaire divorced mother of two.

Not bad. Great acting by Lawrence.
Movie was a tad slow though.
I just flew home after finishing work overseas. I saw that movie was available on the plane, but I passed on it. Maybe I should give it a chance.

The absolute closest room to the buses
and Melody Hall.
Awesome! It does make a big difference having a room close to the main hall, especially at the end of a commando-style day. When I stayed at AoA we lucked out and were on the ground floor 6 rooms away from the food court. That was a blessing at the end of the night, especially with a 6 year old at the time.

1. So... what'd I do before even going in?
2. I have an ADR... where is it?
3. What's the first ride I go on?
4. Considering my lack of sleep,
how late do I stay at MK?
5. Why is my wait for a bus 16 minutes?

Saying yes ain't gonna work.
1. rent a locker
2. Liberty tree tavern
3. Pirates
4. 10:00pm
5. trouble loading two ECV/wheelchairs
6. twice
7. Yes
8. Splash Mountain, Big Thunder, 7DMT
9. Snake
10. Well, I want it to be me, because that would mean I had a trip to report on

Bonus: Yes

Oh, wait, that's not gonna work? Hmmm, well now you're just being snarky :)

What is my total time spent waiting
for Disney Transportation?
An optimistic 116 minutes

Actually I used to say the same thing. Until about a month and a half ago. I can't believe that I was missing out on this treat all these years. Here are the first ones that I tried from a cart at DTD in August.

The correct term for those are "Macarons",
and yes, they're French.
(Actually first had some in Paris.
Kay & I fell in love with them.)
I think since "Macaron" is not easy to say
if you only speak English,
it gets modified to Macaroons
for easier pronunciation.
Also, if you don't know what macaroons are,
and you see those,
you may think that they're what
macaroons are.

Maybe. If I were to leave this minute.

But we are going to the Carolina Renaissance Faire on Sunday, if it isn't washed away by Matthew.

Safer here. Come on over.

Wait... how do you feel about snow?

OK, I got one better for you. This morning while checking the DIS on my phone, I was miffed that you hadn't responded to my post last night. Then I sat down at my computer and it was still up on the screen, like I didn't finish and post it. So I finished it and posted it. But wait! Now I want to change my answers to a couple questions! Seems good nights sleep and a hearty workout in the pool have given me new *smarts*.

Okay, shoot.

Question 9, Wildlife

Armadillo

Noted and changed.

The person who still has stuff in her old house 28 months AFTER moving out. And the one losing thousands of dollars a month by it not being rented.

Ah.
Thousands?? How much does it cost
to rent a house in California???

Well we are planning to buy some BLT points so that we can stay there on September 29 - October 7 2021. That's all I can plan for at this time until we get our stuff out of the old house.

So you are planning!

Why yes, actually.

Be here around 5:30 - 6:00.

Hence why we have never seen the first bag come up on the carousel.

You're missing out.
Everyone stares intently at the conveyor,
a silent cheer goes up when it starts to move.
The anticipation for the first bag to show
up is palpable.

When you consider First Class seats on any other airline, and then you multiply the cost of three Southwest tickets, you save several thousand dollars.

Good point.
I've never quite understood first class pricing.
It's not just a little more than econo.
It's not just a lot more than econo...
It's a LOT more than econo.

Whatever the market will bear, of course.

Plus then we don't worry about their "person of size" rule and get embarrased if they ask us to leave the plane.

Ugh. Did that happen to you guys?
Or have you always launched the pre-emptive strike?

We don't get them here much. I think I saw them on a trip to/from Vegas, or maybe I was in Denver.

Ah. I was wondering if you'd seen
them when living elsewhere or something.

Do I hear an echo?????

Nope!

Nope

You're a sick puppy.

:dog:

I can see that.
When I get somewhere,
the adrenaline kicks in and I'm off.
Same when I get home,
then I get to tell my tales to my family
and/or give gifts.

Then I crash... hard.

I tried to remember for the last WDW trip and we would be standing at the Bus Stop and I'd be like, "Crap! What time did we get here?" Unfortunately all I got in response was blank stares.

 It takes a certain amount of dedication

or fear of losing readers.

Yeah, I think I did better when I didn't think about my answers as much.

We'll see how this turns out.

Nice start to the trip. That Plus seating looks great, worth the extra cost, i'm sure.

I think it is, but I don't do it all the time.
When Ruby and I flew to Montreal and back
we didn't do it.
It just wasn't worth spending $300... one way.
($150 each)

Nice close room at the resort. We were at a close room like that at POP last time, we were in the 2nd and 3rd room down a hall just like that by the Hippy pool.

Isn't that the best??
No 572 mile long walk to the room.
No 462 flights of stairs to trudge up.

looking forward to the next update :surfweb:

Working on it!

1. So... what'd I do before even going in?----------Take a Round trip ride on the Monorail

2. I have an ADR... where is it?--------Tony's

----------------yes, Snarky is much more fun than the Friendly skies!

Heck. Anyone can offer friendly skies.
(And yet, so few deliver.)

146 minutes (I didn't go back to see if anyone else picked that one)

Noted.
And... you're good.
No one else picked that.

See! You can speek South'rn.

'll r'ght!!

Now, we say "better" just the way you do, but "c'rr'ct'd" it pretty close to actual, pronunciation wise.

 And here I was just bugging you with that one.
And it turns out I'm right!

That one also illustrates just how "ain't" came to be spelled and used in the the way it is down here.
From "am not" you get "a'n't" and through plain laziness the first apostrophe morphed over time into an "i"

I cannot tell if you're kidding or not.
Seriously.
It sounds too plausible.

And interesting that you say "am not".
My first thought is always "is not".
That is not right.
That ain't right.
I am not right.
I ain't right.

Bonus question:

how many times does pkondz use any form of the word "sashay"?

As many times as he possibly can
because his readers expect it.

Now... where's my prize?

And... :welcome: to the TR!
