DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Morning, gents.

3rd night shift in a row and I'm sure feeling it. One more to go before a break.

Went for my 3rd run yesterday too. Interesting that it was easier than the 1st run, but harder than the 2nd. But being tired from night shifts might play a part in that.
Plus running on snow instead of bare pavement too. These runs have been alternating 60/90 run/walk seconds. Next week it amps up to 90/120. Actually nervous about being able to do it.
Still waiting on that runner's high Dan mentioned. Had a bit of one, in that I was very happy when it was over.

Got about another hour to go then get to head home. Looking forward to some shut-eye.

Happy Sunday All. It is Sunday, right?

Making some seafood chowder on the slow cooker to celebrate a milestone birthday that happened yesterday but I'm not supposed to talk about that.

Another fun chat with some of the guys last night via Zoom. It's becoming a weekly thing.

Randall I hope you and Jodi had a great anniversary and Dan I hope you all enjoyed your "flight".

Have a good one all.

Don’t ask me. All I know is one more night shift to go.

Happy mysterious birthday to whoever.

Morning chaps from a slightly greyer London. It was beautiful yesterday, capped off with some cracking brisket. Not much on the agenda today.

it'll take a while buddy. It's like a fuzzy feeling down the back of your neck as your brain releases endorphins.

Randall I hope you and Jodi had a great anniversary and Dan I hope you all enjoyed your "flight".
Happy anniversary chief, hope you had a good one.

The flight was OK thanks mate, apart from the stewardess. I won't be flying with them again.

Happy non descript birthday to the aforementioned unnamed individual.

Yeowch.

Plus running on snow instead of bare pavement too.
I always find you end up running towards the front of your foot almost on tiptoe on snow or ice. It's really tough on your toes and your calves over distance.

have a great Monday fellas.

Morning, folks.

Last night shift for a while. Thank goodness. I feel like I've been punched in the head.

It's like a fuzzy feeling down the back of your neck as your brain releases endorphins.
I'm definitely feeling fuzzy...

Huh. Hadn't thought of that.

Glad the brisket turned out well. It sure looked good.

And all kidding aside, I loved the "flight" you gave your kids. Very creative.

That was your whiskey, Dan.

Afternoon All,

Remember that little fender-bender I had about 6 weeks ago? Well I dropped the car off at the body shop to be repaired early this morning. Thank God they had a rental car for me and it has unlimited mileage.

Anyway, back to work. Have a good one all.

I'm guessing the "flight" was discussed either on FB or on the call. I just searched all the posts and have no idea what you're talking about. :sad2:

It was on FB. Dan is providing skits of what their California was to be.

Afternoon, Gents! Hope all is well on this Monday morning. Don't about any of you guys, but it's absolutely beautiful this morning here on the Cape. Well, had a pretty good weekend. Saturday afternoon the DD went to Nana's and Grampy's, so that meant the DW and I had plenty of time to ourselves 😁. Sunday morning I spent most of the time looking at websites about writing kick butt career change cover letters as well as resumes, because of this DD got a ton of TV time. So, I decided to take the DD out to the beach for some kite flying...after five minutes she was making sandcastles. I had thought that the governor had closed all beach parking lots, but the police weren't doing anything about it so we had took advantage.

I came into work this morning and asked my boss what was happening with the now open position (I played stupid about last week). He said that they have approved the wording for the position for ad, but are waiting to see if they can get approval to fill it. So he told me to apply for the position if and when they post it, and also said that he was fairly confident they were going to keep me on as a temp past the end of my contract of 4/30. I prefer to have a job with benefits, but I almost prefer to be a temp as it'll make it easier to leave when I get a job I really want. If I stay on as a permanent employee it'll make it harder to leave, say after a year. I can explain why I'm leaving from a temp position, but leaving from a full-time permanent job after a year is a bit harder to explain away. Oh well, either way I'm going to take this opportunity as a temp to finish a medical terminology course I've been taking....hopefully that'll help me in finding a job in the medical field

Wow. You're there... doing the job... and they want to ask someone who's left, to do it.
Have you thought about talking to your super and asking why you aren't being considered?

Yeah, I was pretty peeved, but had to play it off like I didn't know what was going on.

Morning chaps from a bright and 15c London.

Belle isnt the only one to get her hands on a huge piece of meat this morning.

Our butcher who is a lovely bloke got me a brisket from Smithfield market. He is super busy at the minute with all the supermarket nonsense and people trying to support their local businesses, I popped round and helped him out last Monday to cut and tray up some orders.
He's given me this little piece of heaven for 25 quid, in the understanding that I bring him back some on Tuesday so he can have it in sandwiches for his dinner.
So I might make the call later as I will be tending to this bad boy until about 2 am and then letting it do its thing.

Have a great saturday chaps.

That looks good. Makes my mouth water.

Yep, get it going about midnight, maybe have a cheeky bourbon or 2 to toast the cow for it made the ultimate sacrifice for our delicious dinner, and let the temp come up and make sure it's doing its thing, off to bed and let it run through till about 2pm tomorrow. Let it rest a couple of hours, and Bobby's your uncle, Charlie's your aunt. All meaty goodness.

:thumbsup2
If anyone is interested I just set this up, hope it works.

Stouts? As in fermented beverages, not DisDads.

Hope they keep you on until something better comes along. Don't worry about leaving a job after a year or even six months if you can get a "temporary permanent" position. That is common these days and easy enough to explain since you will be doing a career change.

And all kidding aside, I loved the "flight" you gave your kids. Very creative.
Thanks mate. Its turning into a bit of a thing now. Hey ho, it keeps the kids off tech for a couple of hours. Throw in lego and lunch and they are only on the tech for a couple of hours a day.
That was your whiskey, Dan.
Too much whiskey and the fuzzy feeling is down the front of my leg and somehow I get a wet foot. Can't quite work it out.

Just being a twonk on FB mate. I can't upload videos here, and it would be just taking up good storage space that I'm sure we'd be better served for something else

Okay... so start of week two of running.
And it totally sucked.
yes, I did it, but there sure weren't no runner's high!
5 minutes walk, then alternate 90/120 seconds running/walking for 20 minutes. Then 5 minute cool down.
I keep telling myself it'll get easier.

Oddly enough, though... I'm happy I'm doing it. I need to get off my a$$ and get some exercise.

So, I decided to take the DD out to the beach for some kite flying...after five minutes she was making sandcastles. I had thought that the governor had closed all beach parking lots, but the police weren't doing anything about it so we had took advantage.
Not surprised it's not being policed. And... really... you're social distancing, so who cares where?

Yeah... no regrets there if/when you leave.
Yeah, I was pretty peeved, but had to play it off like I didn't know what was going on.
Get that.

I did 5 to 7 Km walks for about a week and half, today moved to running with some walking. Just under 5 Km is about 36 minutes, bit stiff tonight though.

Finally getting a chance to reply to this...

I would not worry at all about short stint(s). It is quite easy/normal/acceptable to say it was a temp position with no benefits and I needed something more stable. The key is never to bad mouth the previous employer no matter how much of scum bag(s) he/they were...one would think the truth would be more valued, but prospective employers don't want the truth in regards to that.

I've had several short stints over the last couple years, but valid reasons I was able to explain to employer(s) for them.
Laid off.
Took new job and then got an amazing offer here in FL.
Got an even more amazing offer to WFH.
I'm a Linux specialist and the amazing offer was just about everything except Linux, so I was unfulfilled and struggled. Note how I made it about me vs. the idiots hired me to do one job and then had me doing everything else and they were morons for attempting that. (oops, did I type that in my outside voice?)
