Thanks for posting this video! A couple of things jumped out to me:What we see in other themeparks across the world is that AP holders no longer have unlimited access, everyone needs a reservation. I'm sure there will be a few to try and get reservations for multiple days, but then it's first come first serve. I do believe that every park has or should have a max for AP holders and a max for day guests
What will be interesting is what will happen to the flow of guests during the day. When you have a park with lots of locals and therefore many AP holders is that around afternoon/ dinner time the park gets a bit busier for people coming in for a few hours after work. That's something you cannot do on a whim anymore for the coming months. Coordinating with friends with APs will probably more difficult, so my guess is that the evenings will be quieter than before.
Also interesting to watch is this video of TDR Explorer (one of the best English websites on the Asia Disney parks)
1. A lot of people were not really wearing masks (a bunch were pulled down to necks, kids not wearing them at all). I feel like if they can’t even enforce that in Shanghai, it’s going to really be a struggle to get people to keep a mask on in CA. I feel for the CMs already. (I’m actually fine with wearing a mask and actually would probably feel safer at the parks if they were required, so I’m not saying they shouldn’t require them, but I do see that it probably won’t really matter if they do. Like many issues, you’ll have 50% of the CMs who try to enforce the rules and get yelled at and burn out, and the others who just aren’t willing to try.
2. They mentioned that Shanghai is big and spread out. DL isn’t. Where are they going to put those extended queues?
3. I didn’t realize they’re offering 1/2 day and full day tickets. It’d be nice if they set up reservations that way - could accommodate more people. I imagine they’d use wristbands? Might be overly complicated, but if you sold some tickets/reservations that were good until 2:00 or 3, you’d get the “early morning with kid locals,” and then if some started at 5, you’d get the “after work” crowd, and you’d give more people access without upping capacity. I probably don’t want to go and wear a mask for more than a few hours anyway.
Lots to think about. It will be interesting to see how things go.
