One time I had my birthday pin on at Captain Cook's when picking up a mobile order. It was extremely crowded. A CM saw me, asked if I had a food allergy, and shoved multiple desserts in my bag. I was blown away. I couldn't believe she spotted the pin in a sea of people and ran over to me to sprinkle some pixie dust.So I wouldn't say it's automatic. I think cast members have the ability to give out so much pixie dust; it just depends if the right one sees you wearing your pin and wants to. I have seen it happen though and my son has gotten several things on his birthday.
Another trip Poly CMs knocked on my door with a box of chocolates, Honolulu Cookie Company cookies, and balloons. I've spent many celebrations at Poly, but this year I got something special delivered to my room.
The little moments like this really make Disney feel special. I go in expecting nothing and if something happens it's just a pleasant surprise!
