If I wanted to see the MK, I would book Wilderness. You can barely see the MK from BLT.

:earsboy: Bill

We are booked at Wilderness Lodge. I just can't find a floor or view that fits my wants right now. We are happy wherever they put us but I know the view I want and will fight to get it. But I just can't pinpoint that view (fireworks or MK from standard view)

I believe what you want is a standard room on a higher floor. I recently stayed in a standard CL room and had a perfect view of the castle and fireworks. CL is on floor 7, but I would think the room directly underneath me on floor 6 has a substantially similar view.

The confusion seems to come from your conflicting requests. For the best view of MK fireworks, I would recommend a high floor Standard view room, just like we had on our last trip.
If you prefer a low floor, your view of fireworks won't be as good. The unique design of the lodge building means there aren't guest rooms on every floor in every part of the building. I'd just make sure you prioritize your requests how you want and enjoy your stay.

I think you're both right. My party all wants something different. I want fireworks and the other wants ground floor. Knowing that we can see fireworks from the hotel itself, we don't need a room that we can see them from. We can watch them from outside! I think I need to call the rep again to clarify...

Edit: so I did just that and called the rep we're working with and told her that we are confused about floors and views, and that we're getting conflicting information from Disney and internet about this. So I said we'll keep the standard lower room right now. And I'll keep checking the website for discounts as will she and that if there is something that can help us, I'll let her know (vice versa). So we'll see at this point.

Here's an updated bookable views map, based on reports that Woods View is back for phone reservations and those outside of the US. Keep in mind that for the remainder of 2017 the lack of "Woods View" as a category does not mean that those rooms are not in use, as they may be used for Standard View reservations.

Have they cut the trees in front of the standard rooms like they did with the Woods view trees?

Yes, the trees that were cleared for the North side cabins improve the fireworks view from the Standard view rooms just like the Woods view rooms down the hall further East.
Woods view also includes the rooms that open to the lobby and still have trees blocking the view of MK and the fireworks.

I need help again! I think I need a "Wilderness Lodge for Dummies" book .

I'm trying to figure out what floor I should request to see MK. If not MK, the the fireworks. I know everyone has said different things but the thing that confuses me the most is the Disney rep I've been working with.

....

If she's a rep at Disney, shouldn't she know or have an idea what floors have what room types?

This post and your later post made me question...

Are you dealing with a travel agent or Disney directly ? From your descriptions it sounds like you are dealing with a travel agent. Normally when dealing with Disney directly one would end up with different people each time you call and not have a way of directly contacting a specific CM, but it sounds like you deal with the same person each time and can contact them directly. Also, Disney won't watch out for discounts for you, when dealing directly with Disney, you have to do that yourself. A TA on the other hand, should be.

Maybe dumb questions here, I'm trying to follow your posts and I may just be confused. First, when you say "Disney Rep," who exactly is this? A travel agent? Someone you got when you call the main WDW reservation line? If Disney (and even many TAs, unless they are WL pros), I would be very skeptical about anything they tell you about views, floors, rooms, etc. You may luck out and have a CM (or TA) that knows what they are talking about, but potentially you don't. Especially with a floorplan as nuanced as WL... I would trust experts here over anything "they" tell you.

Second, I really don't think "WL" when I think of resorts you can see MK/fireworks from. Sure, you can get some decent views from upper floor rooms facing that direction and some level of view down by Geyser Point (I think), but this isn't exactly the best view of the various MK viewing options, in my humble opinion. Sorry if you know this, just want make sure.

If I were in your shoes, I would request an upper floor and likely leave it at that.

Again, sorry if I'm missing something in your posts. Please ask away, lots of people here that can help out. :-)

Maybe I'm over thinking this and I'm just confused. We've only stayed at moderate resorts and had first floor with no views. Should I just wait until we get there and see what happens?

The first floor of the Wilderness Lodge is anything like the first floor of any other resorts. The lobby is on the second floor and there is a ramp that takes you down to the ground floor. The standard view rooms don't begin until the fourth floor. There are rooms on the first, second and third floors, but they are woods view and courtyard view. Many people don't like the ground floor rooms on the MK side. Now that the cabins have been built that is mostly what you will see. The fourth floor and higher will be the nicer rooms. :)

I'm working with Disney directly.
I wrote a not so nice email to the guest services email regarding the CBR gift card promotion. Long story for another time but the rep gave her direct line in her voicemail and said to call her rather than the general reservation line. She is a guest service specialist.

No question is dumb!! I'm working with a guest service specialist. I wrote to the guest services email and that's how I got connected to the lady I'm I'm working with.

Now she's a super nice lady and answers most questions I have. But is so confused about the floors and views, etc which makes me confused haha and in my last voicemail I told her that. Like I'm getting conflicting answers on where standard rooms start, views form different views, etc. We've only stayed at moderates (POR, CBR) so you don't have seven floors to pick from and with a possible castle view haha. I'm definitely taking everything here more seriously then Disney (how odd is that to not take Disney word!). But I do trust what I read here more than her. Maybe she can get me a good room rate but I have to get the room right first.

Ok yes I've been told about the fourth floor beginning standard rooms! I'm just irked that we asked for 2nd floor originally when booking a standard room and she said "ok I'll put your request in". Shouldn't she know that standard starts at 4 and let us know that? Ugh haha. The rep is nice but I think I need someone else to work with.
I'm excited to see the cabins! We had family stay in the Hawaii building at Poly Concierge Level and faced the bungalows. They were gorgeous so I'm sure the cabins are just as gorgeous.

I don't want to sound mean, but I think your expectations are a little high. She works for Disney, not just the Wilderness Lodge. There's absolutely no way she could know the view categories for every floor of every resort. Plus, some of the room categories at WL have been switched around (woods view was removed...sounds like it may be coming back in 2018). I think the best thing for you to do would be to regroup, rank any requests you have in order of importance, and then re-submit.

That's what we did. We called her back and said we're staying standard room and lower level. Whatever happens happens at this point.

So I assume the "mystery building" is the new spa, "Salon by the Springs" mentioned in my latest issue of Disney Files. Interesting.

Also confirms Roaring Forks re-opening scheduled for mid-July. Also says this for the new pool, but perhaps that will open earlier.

I had heard that the old Trout Pass bar was going to be the new spa but the mystery building seems like a better place.

There is a building to the right of the new villas pool that we don't know what it will be used for. But someone will tell us someday. ;)

Maybe a community hall?

Hey, All.

Anyone staying at Wilderness Lodge right now hear anything about Roaring Forks possibly opening? Or possibly the quiet pool? I keep seeing photos, but just wondering if there has been any communication about when they'll open. Thank you for any input!
We are going June 29- July 6. We just got an emails stating..." The leisure pool, Boulder Ridge Cove Pool, will be closed for enhancement along with the marina. During this time, Copper Creek Springs Pool, the feature pool, will remain open for your use. Alternative recreation activities at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and Disney’s Contemporary Resort will also be available to you. Boat transportation to Magic Kingdom® Park will continue to be provided, weather permitting." and "We are pleased to share our latest addition, Geyser Point Bar & Grill, will be open during your stay and will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as specialty cocktails, beer and wine. The menu offers a variety of items, including hot breakfast entrees, a gourmet burger, sandwiches, salads and kids’ meals. Roaring Fork, our quick-service food and beverage location, will be closed for refurbishment. As an alternative, Territory Lounge is now offering a continental-style breakfast featuring gourmet coffees, pastries and a yogurt parfait."
