Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Bad night for us at yacht club. Got back to our room at 10:30. The 4? Young men in the room next door had the music up loud and were talking over it. Some one must have complained cause they turned it down at 11:30. But since we are connected room we could still hear it. I covered my head with extra pillow. DH was woken up at 3am by security knocking on their door. We heard it but they didn’t cause security ended up pounding on it. DH thought he heard security say someone in the room had called 911. I only woke up when I heard the door slam.

I talked to front desk this morning. They were very apologetic and gave us fast pass for ride of our choice today. I hope they threw the bums out.

That’s awful, hope things improve!
Once at SSR we had a ground floor room and we were woken at 1am by two men sitting in our outdoor chairs, talking and smoking!! It was really unnerving in the middle of the night. We asked to move to a higher room the next day.

The worst thing about being comped CL is I’m not going to be able to go back. We haven’t tried the evening offerings yet other than I got a really nice glass of wine.

That’s how they get you. I never thought I was a CL girl until we were upgraded at BWI. Now I book it when it makes sense — and it’s hilarious to hear me make sense of it.

I have a water view room at YC booked for my upcoming September trip, so I just called and requested a room that faces Crescent Lake! I have used Touring Plans for years but have never ever gotten anything close to what I requested, so let’s see if maybe calling will work (I know it’s just a request and not guaranteed, but fingers crossed!).

I just want to be able to sit on my balcony with a cup of tea and watch the Boardwalk sparkle :)

Sounds like me. Who did you call? I would like to call them too

Hi everyone! We’re looking forward to our BCV stay in July, knocking one more resort off the bucket list. We stayed at YC in December and LOVED it so much. A word of warning to anyone considering booking a cabana: I just called to book a half day and all the days that would have worked with our plans are booked. I’m going to keep trying but I’m pretty bummed. I didn’t really think availability would be an issue so I’m kicking myself for waiting to call. Boo!

Cabana question- I was thinking about renting a full day of a cabana at Yacht Club. I talked with Disney special services reservations this morning. We are going in September when afternoon storms are highly likely. She suggested watching the weather the week we were there and canceling 24 hours prior if the weather looked stormy. The rental price would then be refunded. I said that in September all afternoons would have thunderstorms in the forecast. I asked her what would happen if we checked in for the full day (10:00-7:00) cabana rental and storms closed the pool at 2:00 and we didn’t get to use our full day? She couldn’t really say as we would have accessed our reservation so it wouldn’t be refunded at that point. Anyone have any thoughts about how Disney might handle this? Just trying to decide if a September cabana rental is just nuts because of the daily afternoon storms.

Edit: We decided to go ahead a book a cabana for a full day on the Saturday. Since the parks are likely to be busier on Saturday we are going to use that as a resort day and enjoy Storm-a-long Bay!

I can’t speak to the specific policies for the cabanas regarding refunds due to unforeseen circumstances, but can attest that Disney/YC/BC management have been very accommodating when expectations or deliverables are not met. I would go with the full day and adjust as circumstances warrant. My best personal example would be when the 2017 1/2 marathon had to be cancelled and full refunds were given out. By policy, runDisney or Disney did not have to give the refund. Good will for guest retention goes a long way.

:scared1: that would have freaked me out!

Hope you get the room you are looking for!

Have a nice stay! :thumbsup2

Sorry you had that experience there!
We checked out of The Yacht Club this morning, we had some awful neighbors too!
Baby screaming at 630am, then older kid starts screaming, them Mom and then Dad.
It was awful both mornings. By 730, they were out in the hallway screaming, so inconsiderate.
I told them at check and said you should keep the room empty until they check out.

I apologize I never posted again about our Easter week trip, but it has been a busy week since we got back. We were at YC club level from April 20- 28. Amazingly I was able to get an annual pass discount for every night. I did have to do a separate reservation for the 1st night, but that was not a big deal. I never expected to get a discount over a major holiday, so I was thrilled.

Our last 2 YC CL stays were in September & February. Somehow we ended up in the exact same room both times, 5239. It is the second to last room at the end of the hall. Almost as far away from the lounge as you can get. Years ago that didn’t bother us, but we are in our 60s now & it is a quite a walk after a long day in the parks. It is also very inconvenient to take stuff back to your room if the lounge is full. And we had an ant infestation in that room in February which caused us to move rooms at midnight in the middle of our stay. Needless to say, I did not want that room again. I emailed DSS about 10 days before our trip & requested a room closer to the lounge & made a king bed our secondary request. I did mention the ant problem. Got the usual “no guarantees” reply. I also said we would rather wait for our request than take any available room when we arrive.

We arrived by towncar at about 10am. No greeter outside. So we went into the lobby & were the only ones in line. We were approached by a CM with an iPad who asked if we were checking in. Told her yes, club level & she brought us upstairs to check in. No issues with check in, but our room wasn’t ready. We grabbed a few drinks in the lounge & then headed off to check out the Easter Egg displays in the Y & B lobbies, followed by lunch at Beaches & Cream & fastpasses at Disney Studios. We got the room ready text early afternoon. We got the same room @GADisneyDad14 had a few months ago, 5151. I love this room!! It is to the left when exiting the elevators, about 5 rooms down. It has a king bed, couch, coffee table & desk. Shower only, no tub. It is so quiet (hardly any hall traffic) but very convenient to the lounge. We never heard anything from outside either. I can’t post pictures from my iPad, so will post those later. The room was in great shape, except the grout outside the shower. There was a stack of flooring boxes outside one of the rooms in our hall & I overheard the CMs talking about which room was being worked on. So apparently some rooms are having the flooring replaced already. We did hear some hammering that first day, but then nothing else the rest of the week.

We noticed there was no sunscreen with our toiletries. We did not get the daily itinerary with our ADRs & personalized suggestions. And for the first time in years, we did not get welcome chocolates either. I posted before that I noticed our last 2 rooms did not have notepads or pens. I don’t know if these are cutbacks or just things that got overlooked.

Well, I had this whole post written with all the lounge offerings listed. But somehow an error occurred as I posted it & half my post was lost. Off to write it all again......

My Easter week YC CL stay, part 2:

I was surprised there was nothing special in the lounge Easter morning. Actually, the lounge was pretty empty that morning. I guess most people had breakfast or brunch ADRs. As usual there were 2 hot items, one of which was always oatmeal, several mornings the other was an egg based quiche type item. I also saw grits, chocolate chip bread pudding with vanilla sauce & the crepes with strawberry sauce & whipped cream. There was always hard boiled eggs; 3 cold cereals; bagels; croissants; breads for toasting & whole & cut fruit. There were 2 or 3 cold meats, I saw turkey, salami, roast beef & ham.

Afternoon snacks were cookies, cheese, crackers, crudités with dip , trail mix & a few candy jars, like gummy bears. I was happy to see POG juice added in the afternoon too. Other beverages were iced tea, lemonade, apple juice & the Storm Along Breeze.

They have added a soup to the evening appetizers. I saw vegetable minestrone; tomato bisque & clam chowder. There were 2 hot items in addition to the soup. These are what I saw: meatball bombers; bacon wrapped scallops on (crispy) potato nests; buffalo chicken cutlets with blue cheese aioli; beef short ribs with mashed potatoes; pork with polenta; salmon on lentils with citrus sauce; Mac & cheese with add ins & the popular chicken nuggets.

There is 1 small plated cold item plus 2 or 3 cold serve yourself salads. These were: mixed olive salad; farro salad; caprese salad; garbanzo bean salad; broccoli slaw; Thai beef salad; pistachio crusted goat cheese; shrimp cocktail with avocado cream in crostini; Cesar salad wedges & shrimp ceviche. There were always cheese; crackers; rolls with PB&J; cold veggies & dip. The veggies for apps are now different from the afternoon crudités. In the evening they are slightly blanched so not really raw. They had carrots, green beans & onions. Not sure —why onions?

We don’t drink, so I can’t comment on adult beverages.

Desserts were more limited than our last few visits. There was always some combination of the following: cookies (sugar, oatmeal & chocolate chip); a bar type brownie, Rice Krispie treats; mini cupcakes (vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, strawberry & lemon) and the chocolate mousse Mickey head. The mini hot apple pies & no bake cheesecake shooters I have enjoyed the last few stays were not offered this time. Too bad, they were both very yummy! There was still a decent amount out, just not quite as varied & a little more redundant than past stays.

The side room in the lounge was rearranged a bit & there is a table there now with games to use. The CMs kept the foods well stocked, including the ice cream fridge. And the tables were bussed pretty promptly. We don’t ever need help from the CMs at the desk, but they were always friendly & welcoming as we came & went. I could tell a few recognized is from our past stays, you could see their faces change as they recognized us. We never expect anyone to know us, so that was nice to experience.

I’ll try to post a few pictures next.

Easter morning there was a candy scramble, egg hunts & mini carnival games on the BC lawn. And Mickey Mouse himself was there for a meet & greet. We checked out the egg displays at several resorts & they were all beautiful. There were Easter lilies in the outdoor flower boxes too. We had breakfast at Ale & Compass, lunch at Beaches & Cream & dinner at Yachtsman’s Steakhouse. All delicious.

We took buses to MK & Disney Springs with no issues. The afternoon buses from MK were pretty crowded. The boats were crowded too. We took them back from the Studios 3 different afternoons, between 1:30 - 3pm. Everyday the line was well outside of the covered waiting area & back onto the sidewalk. Twice a few people had to wait for the next boat because the boat was filled. But the boats do seem to be running about every 10 minutes, so it wasn’t too bad.

The parks were moderately crowded, but not horrible. And the weather was perfect, even when it was high 80’s, there was no humidity so it felt fine. Surprisingly, we never went swimming this trip. Storm Along Bay was the most crowded I have seen it. We had decided before our trip we were just gonna take it slow & have a lot of down time. So instead of heading to the crowded pool & dealing with that, we chose to skip the pool this time & just chill in our room during the afternoons.

We had absolutely no issues with CMs. Everyone we encountered in the parks, hotels, on transportation & at Disney Springs were great. All friendly & helpful. We had 2 encounters with rude guests, but we were able to forget those as quick as they happened. All in all, it was a great trip!

Thanks for the detailed review, we'll be staying YC CL in August. So excited.
