Touche! :worship:

Yet Disney, if it's true, will not let dogs stay in only 4 of their many hotels but is strongly for Amendment 3 which will allow more gambling in the state of Florida. Wondering if Disney is thinking of placing a casino on their property.

Hope my in laws don't read this or they will start lobbying to come with us. Uhhhh no.

I don't think PP statement is cut and dry ... it is an assumption. Amendment 3 is a shift of power, not approval of gambling. It shifts the power from lobbyist and State government to the citizens and voters. While have not dug too deep, no way Disney is dumping this much money in to this in an effort to get more gambling, that will only hurt them.

I think you are safe .... for now.

Not sure what difference it makes either way. We saw a yappy jumpy dog at AKL earlier this month in an elevator with a family, with a bellman taking care of their luggage, and no one seemed to care. Slap an "emotional support" tag on whatever obnoxious pet you want and Disney won't enforce any rules.

Theme park tourist just released a statement that they would honor reservations that have already been made with dogs but wouldn't accept new reservations past October. I am going to see if they will confirm this with me today since we already have a reservation for December.

Just spoke with Disney guest services again...
They informed me we could still bring our dog to the cabins in December. They have not made a decision yet to discontinue having dogs in the cabins (but they were honoring previous cabin reservations that were made).
So I guess we will have one more trip with our dog.

I wonder if you can get that in writing to take with you. I personally would feel better knowing I'm not going to show up and have to fight the battle with the resort itself. Although I do think cabins have the best bet of it being honored.

Did they say anything about whether they are discontinuing pet dogs at YC, POR, and AoA? So far there are rumors of this, but I hadn't seen anything directly from Disney yet.

According to guest services today, fort wilderness cabins is the only
Resort to not have made a decision to discontinue dogs yet. They called to hotel manager to confirm while I was on hold. Take that for what you will.
She said they confirmed he was allowed for the $50 a night and must bring vaccines record.

They did put notes on my file. Not sure how much weight that carries.

Nobody loves her dog more than I do. ;) She is four-pawed perfection. :cloud9: Which is why I never would have taken her to WDW even though she could stay in my room. The transport to and from alone would leave her trembling for weeks. She can stay with my in-laws who dote on her almost as much as I do. Win-win for everyone!

I can’t imagine there was a ton of demand from guests versus the expense of extra cleaning and the risk of dog bites. Disney CMs don’t like to confront guests, and people traveling with dogs adds a whole bunch of potential confrontations.

“Your dog belongs on a leash.”

“Please clean up Fido’s doo-doo.”

“Can you stop your dog from barking so much?”

“Keep the dog away from the playground. We don’t want him lifting his leg on the equipment.”

“Dogs are not permitted in the food court, and it doesn’t matter if he’s strapped into a stroller.”

A couple of weeks ago, I was at Macy’s department store, and an elderly woman got off the elevator with a standard poodle strapped into a stroller. :lmao:It was like a live internet meme. Imagine dealing with someone like that if you’re in customer service?

Happy to hear this is ending. We usually stay at POR and booked POFQ this summer to avoid the dog situation. Between people with allergies, owners that aren't responsible about clean up and dogs that are barking because they aren't in familiar surroundings, this was an ill-conceived idea. Glad it's coming to an end.

While I believe there is a place for genuine emotional support animals, I also think there are waaaaayyyyy too many people who abuse the system. A co-worker was telling me she rents an apartment that charges a fee for pets, but not for service animals, including emotional support animals. She didn't want to pay the fee, so she just got her two dogs "certified" as emotional support animals (zero requirements, just free on-line registration). She freely admits they are just pets, they are not trained to do anything special, and she doesn't have any special emotional needs; she just didn't want to pay. So, yeah, I don't take any registration of emotional support animals at face value.

I work with a guy that does this too. So infuriating.

One day at work, my coworkers at I witnessed an elderly woman pushing a dog in a stroller and then less than an hour later, a woman walking with her kid who was wearing one of those backpack leashes. It was fantastic.
