DVC ressie with no tickets

I'm trying not to get all worked up, but many people on the Rumor board are getting e-mails that they'll be able to make reservations on Monday. I haven't received an e-mail yet - okay, no biggie. I've got my DVC reservation and I have tickets linked, so I should be good. But when I went to check my plans in MDE, my plans show my DVC reservations as Room Only and I do show the tickets as being linked. I know everyone is saying we should be fine, but I won't lie, it bothers me a bit. Does anyone have any insight?

You will be fine. Tickets and reservations is all that is needed! Well and patience and maybe wine...lol

Thank you! I really needed that! I've been good and not panicking or overreacting with the news, but for some reason, this one got me!

My daughter is the one planning on being our park reservation specialist. I'm in California and I work M/T/W, so getting up at 3:30 before three 12-hour shifts in a row is not a good start to the week! (If you're a nurse, you know what I'm talking about!) LOL!

But, let's get real, it's all about having some wine....wine is always good.

Yup..7:00 am Monday is 5 o’clock somewhere! 😂😂😂

It definitely does leave DVC owners who didn’t get around to buying tickets yet in the last group, along with those resort only cash guests who didint either

(bolding is mine)

This is what gets me. Yes, maybe some people just procrastinated. But others were rightfully concerned about the complete lack of information from Disney and were waiting to see when the parks reopened before plunking down the cash for tickets - not everyone has unlimited time available for vacations. That was the case for my son's friends who now have been unceremoniously kicked to the back of the line for park reservations along with any random Joe that wakes up one day and decides he wants to go to Disney once 2020 ticket sales reopen.

I expected better from DVC. I've defended them for the last three months through all of this chaos. I won't ever do that again.

I know we’re just guessing at this point. My annual pass expires in June. Do you think I will be able to renew for a December trip? If not, I’d like to not renew and buy new for my trip. I also have a 2021 trip. I wonder if I buy an AP for that trip if I’ll be able to reserve days for my December 2020 trip.

I get your upset, and be mad at Disney...DVC really has nothing to do with ticketing. That is an entirely different division.

I certainly know that many people have to wait and Disney giving no warning caught a lot of people off guard,

Right now, even some of us with tickets may Not get into a park every day of the trip...we are just a little luckier we get to try

Do they expect people to jump on board with buying Riviera after this disaster? Please spend 10s of thousands of dollars on our shiny new resort. Oh, but you can only stay there. You cant get into the parks because you cant buy tickets. Sorry

So a similar but different issue is mine. The extension pushed my renewal date that was about to happen into November. But we have a trip in Feb. Without the extension, I could renew as soon as they allow renewals again and be good for that Feb trip. Now, I can't renew until Sept so I'll have to wait 3 months for others to make those park reservations. Any options that anyone knows of?

We agree on one thing - be mad at Disney. And I am. Madder than I ever thought I would be. But DVC is a part of Disney and I guess I (foolishly) thought they had my back. I'll never make that mistake again. Spare me your "Welcome Home".

And I guess I just want anyone out there thinking of buying in to realize that they have no more importance to Disney than any random Joe walking down the street. Probably less, as they already have your money.

Unfortunately, one thing with all this is that owners have really become aware of what it means to be a timeshare owner and no longer a Disney cash guest.

Its not meant to make light of people who are caught up in the entire ticket situation, but DVCM is really nothing more than the management company we owners hire to take care of our ownership...which is not related to parks,

When it comes to parks and tickets, we are like all other guests. And, even sometime the call center CMs on the Disney side are not always given the information ahead of time, so CMs for MS most surely do not.

I hope it still works out for you in the end.

ETA: There are cash guests who were also caught off guard and now stuck with reservations and no tickets.

Thanks. I have no ill will toward you or any of the mods on here - you guys (and gals - sorry I'm a Yankee you're all " you guys") do a thankless job each and every day!!!

We are relatively new owners (May 2019) and it's just hard to wrap my head around the difference between what we were sold vs what actually exists. That's on us - for sure. We bought into the hype. But it's also on Disney for perpetuating this whole family model of DVC which really couldn't be further from the truth. We are just a number in the system - no more - no less - and I know that now. In a few years when resale values rise to what we paid we'll reevaluate. But this has been an eye opener for sure.

I respectfully disagree with your overall sentiment. Specifically to your bolded statement - The cash guests who are caught off guard are being offered an opportunity to upgrade their stay to a theme park package. BEFORE we are being given an opportunity to buy tickets.

This is from the Disney website:
If you have a room-only reservation at a Disney Resort or other select hotel for a stay in 2021, please call the Disney Reservation Center or call your travel professional beginning on June 24 to upgrade to a vacation package with tickets—and then make your theme park reservations.

Additionally I don't believe this has anything to do with not understanding what a time share is. I definitely know that DVC is a timeshare. But I bought a timeshare where I can stay on Disney Property and have it be considered a resort reservation for all intents and purposes. I receive the same access to things as a cash paying guest. I had the ability to add a dining plan, use the Magical Express, and buy park tickets or an AP.

I have a reservation on site. I am staying there for over a week, on Disney property. I don't think DVC resorts on Disney property are the same as staying in a timeshare condo in Ocean City, MD. I wouldn't expect any concession on getting a ticket to Disney World any early than anyone else.

I dont want to be in front of AP holders, I don't want to be in front of people with tickets, I want to be in front of No Resort Reservation, No Ticket at all people.

Again - I'm on site. But because of how this is rolling out - Even though I'm staying in a Disney resort that is a boat ride away from magic kingdom, I will have as much of a chance to purchase a ticket and get a park reservation as I would if I were staying at a time share condo in Ocean City, MD - and does that sound right?

Allowing 2021 reservations to get tickets before us is salt in the wound. Allowing people with existing reservations to upgrade to a ticket package - and STILL we can't buy tickets yet - that's garbage.

And like i posted before - even though i know you can't anymore - i wouldnt touch a DVC Gold pass right now with a ten foot pole. Right now it is the most expensive base ticket (no hopping) that could potentially only get us into the park one day out of our entire stay. if that.

I'm on board with the masks. I'm on board with the other restrictions. But you aren't even giving us a chance to try. We are staying during Thanksgiving - by the time we are allowed to buy tickets - there is NO WAY there will be availability in the parks.

No worries. Many long time owners have gone through the learning curve too..even me. I read my entire POS since this started and learned a few things that really made it hit home!

They are selling NO tickets and NO hotel reservations for any 2020 stays until later this summer. So both DVC and cash guests with 2020 onsite reservations but no tickets are in the last group right now.

The existing reservations for upgrades are 2021 NOT 2020.

It also seems that those with DVC reservations in 2021 should be able to buy tickets for those stays when it opens up the 2021 bookings for cash guests.

Until someone tries on June 24th or 28th to add tickets for 2021 DVC booked trip and is told no, then I can see the grip for 2021.

So sure, it is completely understandable to be upset that people who are staying offsite with tickets get a chance before you. But tickets Is what gets you into the park reservation system next week and Disney...not DVC..decided those with them get priority over those without, no matter where or how you are booked.

ETA: There are AP holders who are just as upset that they have to wait to book until after resort guests do. No matter what order Disney decided, someone was going to be mad.

yup - and they have to limit park attendance. I get it.
But they already know how many people are booked at their resorts for 2020.
And even knowing that - they are still shutting everyone out who has a resort only stay - cash included until the very end and treating us as if we are just walking in.

And AP holders can be salty about this but at the end of the day - the park reservation is what gets you in - not the ticket. And they will have access to the park reservation BEFORE we will have access to the tickets.

I think it's ok to be unhappy about it. I can still appreciate the value of my DVC ownership and not be happy with this move or feel like it's unfair.

I agree it stinks for those without tickets having to wait, My responses were to others who seem to think DVC should have been able to get them tickets...or told them tickets had been suspended and that it’s DVCs fault.

But, it is the ticket that gets you into the park reservation system and while they may know how many resort guests there are, there are offsite people with tickets that cant be counted yet. Until they go to reserve, they have no idea how many spots will be left,

They do not want to sell tickets to people who can’t get into the park. Matter of fact, all those booking 2021:packages on the 28th of June have to reserve parks at the time they buy the tickets.

It will be the same when they open up more tickets for 2020...guests will have to reserve park days then because you will know if you are getting the day’s before buying,

It really is a bad situation all the way around right now, However, I do believe that those with trips later in the year, like you, will not have as hard of a time as those going in the first few months because capacity will be increasing.

Since unused tickets can be reassigned, I would not be surprised to see a secondary market develop for those tickets.

yeah I definitely think that will happen but they will almost definitely be grossly overpriced to take advantage of everyone unless there is some kind of regulation in place for that stuff. Which I’m not aware of.

I have a Gold AP that will expire on 12/13/20. Our trip begins 12/18/20. My plan was to renew and upgrade to Platinum so we can use the APs for our trip.

My question is, will I be able to reserve park days on Monday if technically my AP will be expired and have blackout dates? I can't renew/upgrade online yet (can only do that 60 days out). On hold to talk to someone right now. I called yesterday and the CM really couldn't figure it out.

Edited to add: originally our APs expired 8/18/20 but the extra added days took us to 12/13/20.

If it makes you feel better, I am in the same boat. The cast member I chatted with said not to worry if you didnt get the email. As long as MDE shows hotel and tickets you should be able to make park reservations Monday. And count me in for some wine too :)
