Have you ever traveled to a restaurant featured in a movie or series?

A couple of years ago we were in Steveston, Canada, which is Storybrooke in Once Upon a Time. We had lunch in Granny's cafe. That was fun. I have a friend who likes to eat in restaurants that were featured in movies.

I've been to a ton of places that Anthony Bourdain has highlighted, but I'm not sure I've ever gone to a place particularly due to a movie/TV show, but I wouldn't be opposed to it!

On this same trip, we also visited Newport Rhode Island and I had the bright idea to drive over to Mystic Ct to check out Mystic Pizza. It was a scenic drive and took just about an hour to get there. We could now check CT off our list of states but wish we had more time to spend there. Downtown Mystic was really cute and went into quite a few shops but everything is so expensive. I did get the shirt at Mystic Pizza that they wear in the movie.

I'd never heard of Mystic Pizza (movie or restaurant) until very recently. My husband had a business trip at Mohegan Sun (a big casino about 20-30 minutes from Mystic). We were looking for things to do while were there and discovered Mystic Pizza. So we rented the movie before we went and then drove to the restaurant. The pizza was very good, but not quite up to the hype. My expectations were too high, I think. :) But the whole area is so neat and we spent a while walking through the town and down Olde Mystick Village. It was definitely a highlight of the trip!

What did you think of Serendipity? I would love to try the frozen hot chocolate! My husband tried the Wahlburgers at Logan while waiting for our flight home and he enjoyed it.

We found Serendipity to be a waste of time and money. The place was packed and we waited for about an hour. Inside, the dining area was really crowded- far too many tables for the floor space- and DIRTY. I think it's just too packed for them to be able to do a decent job of sweeping/cleaning between customers, but that's not an excuse for food on the floor, paper on the floor, sticky tables, etc. I don't remember what we ate, but it was not good. Everything was the same texture and it was unevenly heated, as if the food had been precooked and they'd put it in the microwave to heat it up. The frozen hot chocolate sounds better than it is- think frozen chocolate from DUnkin Donuts or someplace like that. We were really, really annoyed that we'd spent too much time and money on such a crappy experience.

Mystic Pizza.
Wahlburgers (My BFF actually works at the one by Fenway Park).
We went to a place in RI we saw on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives bc it looked so good and was only abour an hour away.

I used the facilities at the Pretty Woman hotel in Beverly Hills.
LOL- Well, and how were they? Was someone standing by waiting to hand you a towel or mint? That could be a spin off from this thread, fanciest or most unique bathrooms people have visited! I've been to the Madonna Inn ages ago to visit(never got the chance to stay overnight) and supposedly the men's room has a waterfall urinal.

Yes, I was afraid you would say that. I've read quite a few of the reviews online and they are similar. The pictures of the frozen hot chocolate look so good though! I've been able to pick up a canister of frozen hot chocolate mix from Sur La Table and make my own. It was expensive but not bad. If you're ever in Sacramento, the frozen hot chocolate from Ginger Elizabeth is delicious!

Doumar's in nearby Norfolk, VA. Guy Fieri did a segment, and another show like top 10/ice cream places or something. But I went there before those aired.

to BUBBA GUMPS in Daytona 2002. from Cocoa Beach in a rental car driving in torrential rain just to eat.
But we had a blast so it was worth it.
I quess it's only based on a movie :)

I would love to go to The Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island. It's on my bucket list. Have only gotten to the island twice but not inside the hotel.

Katz’s Deli
The Billygoat in Chicago (from SNL...cheeeborger, cheeborger, Pepsi, no Coke)...and yes, they really did say that.

I had to get my own towel like a savage.

2 stars out of 4. Will not use again.

I remember when I was younger and traveled quite a bit, going to restaurants featured in TV and movies. I don't remember names! It would just be one of those conversation bits mentioned.

Currently I live on Sanibel/Captiva island. Apparently some of the area, and restaurants have been featured in movies and TV shows. It isn't something I've gone out of my way to find out more on though.

I see the owner of many of the more famous restaurants in the area on a daily bases. He's a colorful character from the cars he drives, to his large pink house with the outdoor shower stall. I haven't seen it myself, but if you are unfortunate enough to pass his house at the right time on your boat you can catch him showing in all his glory.
