I Can't See a Thing and Tiger Lady, Oh My! A Nov Mother & Daughter TR Update 5/7

Then we headed out onto the Savanna. More evidence of my fascination with the trees:

Some Ankole Cattle:

Another thing I seem to photograph every time I go on the safari:

There was a WAT truck sitting on the Savanna so I took some pictures of it:

Ok, I finally got around to taking some more animal pictures.

Wildebeests:

The only good picture I got of a giraffe:

More facination with trees:

A lone elephant. I think this is the male that’s always by himself:

Shaky bridge:

Great animal shots, but sorry you weren't feeling well when you woke up! And yes, you got all the animal names right. :thumbsup2

Thanks! For a little point and shoot, my camera does pretty well.

It was a bummer that we were feeling so poorly, it effected the rest of our day too. But at least it was our last full day and we weren't sick the whole trip.

Yea, I got them all right! I do have some coming up that I have no idea on.

Aw man, I hate waking up feeling sick in Disney!! I usually take enough vitamins that it doesn’t happen to me, then I said the worst “I never get sick in Disney” last month and came down with something fierce. Ugh. One of my friends said it was due to the constant going from heat outside to super air conditioned outside….I think it’s just the getting up early, going hard all day, and going to bed late, added in with food you don’t regularly eat, and sun and heat..Ugh.

Looks like a pretty awesome safari! I haven’t actually been on it since I was there with Mom in Sept! Paige never really had an interest in it, and I usually skip it when solo. I like the perspective of the trek from the “other side”

All caught up! Those slushies in Epcot look so good! What are the odds that both of your pearls were too big for the setting you wanted? Boo! I'm glad that you enjoyed the experience though. I hate getting up and seeing that DME thing hanging from the door :(

Oh, and I did get your PM and will check out your new TR!

Thanks for the bird ID! I'm excited for the wedding. She's going to get married at Sea Breeze Point at the Boardwalk. She hasn't picked a place for the reception yet.

It did look good. I was talking to Mom tonight and told her what I wrote today. She was like, "that meal was so disappointing, but I liked my dessert".

I was excited to get three. I ended up with nine I think for the whole week. I'm going to post pictures of all of them at the end of the TR.

Woophf. I've been doing a horrible job at keeping up at the chatting in the TRs, just been reading them! Ugh about your hip, I hope everything comes out okay, how crappy that you couldn't even walk by the end of it! Ugh!! I hope it gets better soooon!

So pretty!! I obviously wouldn't even know where to start with a disney wedding, Ideally, we'd get married in front of the castle in the early morning, followed by a day of playing in the parks with a reception at BOG, but really I don't think that's an option! bahaha! Saw the comment about characters at the wedding, and I KNOW!! IT'S INSANE how much they cost, like, it's ridiculous, especially knowing how much the character performers get paid. (that is, assuming they make their regular rate and not a special wedding rate] Who knows?! Plus, I've only seen pics of like, Mickey, Minnie and Donald, I'd totally want like, Tinkerbell haha!

Great pictures on the safari. That baby rhino and her momma seemed awfully close to you guys.

Love the photos of the elephants and the giraffes. I have to say that I'm a little disappointed Mark picked Discovery Cove and the dolphins and not the Trek. :(

I'm sorry you still weren't feel well and that it lasted the whole day.

I always like when people take pictures of different things, like you just did on the safari. Sad that it was your last full day though, and that you guys were not feeling so well.

It was a bummer that we were feeling yucky but at least it was almost the end of the trip.

It was a pretty good safari. My one last month was fabulous though, probably because it was cold. I had a blast seeing where we were while we were on the trek.

The slushies were good!

I couldn't believe I picked two pearls in a row that were too big. It was so much fun to pick! I don't know that I will ever go without doing it now.

The DME envelope is always such a downer. :(

I wish I had some answers on my hip, then I could start dealing with it! Being shuffled from doctor to doctor has not been fun.

I am so excited for my Cousin's wedding. Luckily she knows how much of a Disney nut I am and has been sharing the whole process with me in great detail. She forwarded the e-mail she got from her wedding specialist (yep that's what they are called). As of this moment, she is having the reception at St. James Hall at the Boardwalk Resort.

The Rhinos were pretty close athough I think I used some zoom.

The WAT was definitely an awesome experience. Maybe you can do it next time. Cause there's always a next time at Disney!

It wasn't fun to be sick but at least it was the last full day.

Thanks! I really enjoyed seeing the WAT from the other side. I hate getting sick on vacation.

After we finished up with our Safari, we headed to Camp Mickey for the 11:30 Festival of the Lion King show. I can’t express how much I love this show! It’s my absolute favorite show in all of WDW. I could probably sit there all day and watch it over and over. I was upset when there were rumors it would close so I’m glad that they are going to build the new theater in Africa then move the show without closing it for an extended period of time.

We got there pretty early so we were in the first few rows of the Giraffe Section. We learned how to Hand Jive and then the show started! When they got to the elephant section, a guy was pulled out to demonstrate the elephant sound. The noise he made sounded way more like he had a bad case of gas than an elephant. The performer was actually speechless for a minute and finally said “That was the weirdest elephant I’ve ever heard”. It was really funny and got a good laugh from the audience.

I took a lot of pictures but I haven’t really mastered the lighting in there. Here’s the best I got:

After the show, we walked around Camp Mickey and checked out the Character Christmas trees. I guess I was too involved at looking at them because I only took pictures of two. The first one is Stitch:

639_zps9d860a14.jpg

And then of course my Pluto:

641_zps6b0f4bec.jpg

642_zpsa2bfb221.jpg

Since I had a Pluto shirt on and my Pluto bag, I had Mom take some pictures of me with the tree:

By now it was a little after noon, and we were getting hungry. Since we had eaten at Flame Tree on our previous AK day, we decided some pizza would be good and headed here:

647_zps7b2d0b41.jpg

We both got Cheese Pizza and for dessert, Mom got Cheese Cake in a glass and I got Chocolate Mousse:

648_zpsa7528611.jpg

We both loved our pizza. Pizzafari is another one of my favorites at Disney. I have an awful time at AK deciding between Flame Tree and Pizzafari. Our desserts were delicious too.

We sat in the very back room and checked out the mural while we ate. There are so many potential Hidden Mickeys in that room it can drive you nuts. Here’s one that might be:

649_zps5c6b44d0.jpg

When we were finished, we walked through the other rooms and checked out the other decorations. Snakes and Monkey’s on one wall:

650_zpsa88b501c.jpg

Turtles on another wall:

651_zps34be872c.jpg

But are they really turtles? If you look closely some of them are regular turtles and some have rabbit heads.

We made a stop at the restrooms and as usual I was done first. I amused myself by taking some pictures of the front entrance area to the restaurant.

After we finished lunch there were two more things we wanted to do at AK before heading out. So we headed to the one area in the park we had not been too yet.

I love FOTKL too. Your pictures look really good. And Pizzafari does have great pizza, and the murals are all gorgeous in there!

OMGoodness!!! You totally need to do a Pluto Christmas tree in your house this year for Christmas!!!!! My guess is that you wouldn't even have to purchase anything...just use what you have already! :thumbsup2 I guess the only catch I could think of would be your DH ... :scratchin Just bribe him with a miniature hot pepper tree or an 80's themed tree in the garage, or man cave, or whatever space you have given him. ::yes:: :rotfl2:

FOTLK is a really great show and you got some really nice shots of it! I love it when the performers have to improvise like they did with the elephant guy, you always get a good laugh out of it! I agree with PP that the Pluto tree would be a great fit for your house!

I had no idea they had Christmas trees themed after the characters! If I had known that, maybe I would have made more of an effort to get to Camp Minnie Mickey this trip. I want a Stitch tree!

Thanks, I got some even better pictures on my solo trip. I love eating at Pizzafari for the food and the murals.

Let's see, what's on my Christmas tree. Lots of Pluto, many other Disney ornaments, Snoopy, Star Wars and Star Trek, a few 80s ornaments, including some Van Halen ones, and a few ornaments from our childhood. Quite a bit of variety there. :rotfl2:

I have thought of getting a smaller tree to put in the Pluto room so I can leave the Pluto ornaments out all year round. I might do that one of these days!

I think there was at least 15 of the trees. I know they had one for each of the fab five, there was also a Nemo one and a Chip and Dale. There was one with bears on it that Mom and I couldn't decide which character it was supposed to represent. :confused3 I'm not sure why I didn't take more pictures, I wish I had them now.

After lunch at Pizzafari, we headed here:

655_zps0c190f8d.jpg

I had gone all week so far without a meet and greet with my favorite guy so I found mom a bench and got in line. The line was a bit long so I took some pictures to amuse myself:

Hey, I know the lady sitting on that bench!

While I was waiting, Pluto and Goofy took a water break so the CM there told us some really bad jokes. I actually remember two of them.

Why did Captain Hook cross the street? To get to the second hand store

What nationality is Santa Claus? North Polish

He also spent some time telling us about AK. He mentioned that any time you see a paw print on the map, it means there is a live animal there. He said that there was an 800 pound Alligator right in Dinoland. I sent a text to Mom and told her to check out the map so we could see him after I was done. She texted back and said he was right behind her!

I waited about 35 minutes and finally it was my turn to see Pluto. The CM noticed my shirt and bag and said “Hey Pluto I think we have a big fan here”. I of course made a beeline right for Pluto and got a big hug. I then turned to Goofy and he crossed his arms and shook his head. He was mad and didn’t want to hug me! He finally relented and gave me a hug too. Mom came over and got some pictures with my camera:

I gave Pluto one more hug and headed out of the meet and greet area. We stood there for a minute and debated about riding Primeval Whirl but we figured we might be put on with strangers and didn’t want to do that. So we went in search of the Alligator. And here he is:

667_zpsf9e3863c.jpg

Yep he was big!

Our last stop of the day was Dinosaur. I know a lot of people don’t like this ride but I love it, probably for the reasons that most hate it. I love the darkness, the loud noise and the jerky ride. It doesn’t scare me at all, I’m usually grinning in the ride photo. We headed over towards the ride:

668_zps365b6c21.jpg

669_zps92185e93.jpg

As we got in line, I scored my third red tag of the week. I actually remembered to take a picture of it this time.

671_zpsed4cf0a1.jpg

We only waited about 10 minutes and then we were off on our journey to the past. I don’t have a copy of our ride photo. I’m not sure at this point if I forgot to take one or if it didn’t turn out and I deleted it.

We headed out of Dinoland and towards the exit.

673_zpseb0a8864.jpg

I thought it was cute that they had a huge Santa hat on the Dinosaur:

674_zps4959aba0.jpg

As we walked through the Oasis area, we stopped to look at a few animals. I took pictures but I have no idea what they were. Maybe Stephanie can follow up for me.
