Any advice on the best option for a night at Universal’s Royal Pacific? It’s about $950 the one night we need. I’m pretty sure I’m above 5/24, I already have a CSR and I know I can get 10x points if I book through their portal and use PYB. Any other ideas? I don’t think I can justify the annual fee on an Amex Platinum although I was sent a targeted offer for 150k points with a 4k spend in 6 mos which would probably make the card worth it for at least the first year, but we don’t travel much outside of Disney like AT ALL and only fly JetBlue so I guess I’d just cash in the 150k points to pay the bill.

If you want to redeem your points through the Chase travel portal, you would get 1.5 cent per point with a CSR. So the $950 would cost you 63,333 UR points. If you don't want to use your points, you can book through the portal and earn 10x. You can't PYB as the current categories are dining and Airbnb.

If you want to get the Amex plat and can hold off until sometime after mid-November, you could potentially triple dip the calendar year based benefits on one annual fee. If you don't want to wait, you can still double dip. Jetblue is a transfer partner. One benefit of the plat is the Fine Hotel and Resorts/Hotel Collection $200/calendar year credit. The Royal Pacific is FHR, so you would be able to use the credit for 1 night (Hotel Collection requires 2 nights). The rate will probably be higher than what you're seeing, but it'll come with a $100 dining credit and breakfast for 2. You could pay points plus cash, with $200 cash to get the credit, then pay the rest in points at 1 cent per point.

I received the match offer from Chase for my CIU with the standard wording like most of us have received. I will need to SM them once I have completed the MSR (I've only had the card like a week). It also contained the following statement:

Please note that you'll be eligible to receive the bonus as long as: - You have not received a new cardmember bonus for this card in the past 24 months.

I've been getting a new CIC/CIU every 4-5 months. Do we think this is just stock language or are they trying to implement new rules where you can only get a CIC/CIU bonus every 24 months?

I got the same language and think it's stock. The language used to be in the application terms, but I just checked now and it's nowhere to be seen. No idea when that changed.

It does make me a little nervous though, so met MSR sooner than I'd planned. Waiting for the 75k to go pending and then I'll reply to the SM.🤞

I did not receive the 24 month language when I SMed, so it's curious why some reps are choosing to include that language while others are not.
Also, the dp denying the match bc the OP wasn't targeted has me nervous that they'll turn us down once we meet our spend (though Chase said they would match). I'm quickly trying to finish up in case things are going south regarding Chase's generosity.

I double checked p2's message. No 24 month wording...
we appreciate your time and for writing to us about the 90,000 bonus points (equal to $900) offer. We understand this is important to you, and we'll be happy to match the offer for you, as long as you meet the spend requirement of $7,500 based on your original offer. Our records show that you have not met the original spending requirement yet. Once you meet the required spend, please reply to this email to claim difference in the bonus offer. You'll receive the original bonus points of 75,000 in six to eight weeks after the billing cycle in which you qualify. You'll be eligible as long as: - Your account is open and not in default when we post the bonus. - Your purchases do not include balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable. We appreciate the opportunity to explain this, and your understanding. Please contact us anytime with questions or concerns. We are here to help and are committed to it. If you need to contact us again, please send a secure message.

Wow, wonder if I should try matching for my CIU I got 7/27..what the heck, worth a try! It’s like early Christmas.
Woke up to 15,000 UR's.

After reading the above posts, I double checked the wording. DH's CIU which has not met the 7500 spend yet did not have the 24 month part included in the reply. My CIU opened 7/27, I have met the spend, and the reply I got did mention the 24 month rule. While I got a CIC a year ago, I have never before opened a CIU (have one from a PC 2 years ago).

Can you add the food package to a points stay? How much $$ is it?
Maybe @reliev can clarify the cost. The last report I read on FT said it's $150/adult/nt and $75/child/nt + taxes.

Here is regular menu with prices https://andazpuravida.com/food-and-beverage/

We only don't drink a ton of alcohol (maybe a drink a day on vacation?) so all-inclusive usually isn't our style. Though I did really love the free disney dining plan when they offered it, hence my username :rotfl2:

I will finish the MSR next month so we'll see. I think it may be one of those things where they cut and paste a response and then choose from a list for the "You'll be eligible as long as". Some may include the 24 month language thinking it should be included for regular cards. So maybe it was chosen in error. Either way I'll make the MSR and then SM them. By then we'll have data points from other sources if this 24 month thing is real.

I hate rude people. I'm selling my dad's items on FB marketplace. His big items (furniture) we're keeping at his place, smaller items we took to sell from our houses. I had someone interested in his fireplace/heater/tv stand. They asked a bunch of questions, were a legit page and confirmed this morning. I drove 30 min to my dad's this morning to meet them. I messaged them to say I was running late. They replied they were too. Over 1.5 hours later they weren't there. I messaged the person, they saw my message and didn't reply. I waited another 15 minute (so an hour later than they said they'd be) and sent another message and again NOTHING! I wasted over an hour of my time! Yesterday we had a person show 2 hours later. We stuck around because it was a $600 lift chair, but still, it was annoying and they didn't update us either. GRRRR!!!!

Anyways my dad's place looks PRISTINE! We hope to list it tomorrow!!! I'm trying to figure out the best way to sell his $1k brand new tempurpedic adjustable bed and the antique items that were my grandparents. UGH.

IHG app..... having problems with the 'book 3 nights, get 4th free' feature..... anyone else seeing this? in a dummy booking it just shows points needed for the 4 nights without taking one off....
They've always shown 4 days of point redemptions for me, but lowered/avg them to be the 3 days of points across 4 days.

My parents have no intention of moving, but I’ve told my parents that when they die, I’m getting a dumpster and all the border line hoarder stuff in their basement and attic just goes straight in. Not even looking. My mom has textbooks from when she went to college on to 60s. Maternity clothes from when she was pregnant with me. Suitcases of old pictures- but I can’t identity who anyone is in any of the photos. They’re like my grandparents as young adults.

I’m not a minimalist by any stretch, but it’s made me not save things just for the sake of saving things. I get rid of my kids stuff as they outgrow it, maybe save one outfit or a specific small toy. Last year I gave away all our trains and train table, but kept the Percy train my son loved so much he slept with lol. Don’t need it all, just a tiny memory.
My mom has now done my uncle's house and my dad and has said it's made her rethink all her stuff! She had a house fire 5 years ago, and that already did a nice job pairing down what she has. But she was the person who kept everything! My dad was a hoarder and I thank god everyday he moved in May and threw away items. I can't fathom what we would have had.

My dad has all of his textbooks (graduated college in the 1960s and got his PhD in the early 70s so lots of textbooks!), report cards, checks written in the 1960s, etc. They are selling a ginormous house (> 8,000 square feet) and their house in Naples is packed. But the amount of stuff they are taking is crazy. Where is this stuff going? My mom has had a woman up here who does her cleaning helping her out sorting through stuff. This woman is a very hard worker. I keep telling my mom to fly her down to Naples and help her sort through everything for a few weeks (it's really hard to find people to help with anything in Naples and I'm guessing this woman wouldn't mind a few weeks in the sun). But yes, I need to clean out my stuff (meanwhile I'm bringing home stuff from my parent's house).
Ummmm, that house, in Northern MI.....that's a GOLD MINE! LOL.

I looked at the prices at the restaurant I'm not sure if it's in local currency or not but I would be ahead just on food if it was in dollars. and yeah it's 150$ per person and everyone at your party has to do it. I like the Ostra menu, for example, I could eat there daily if it was included (it's expensive). They told me everything was included except a few choice cocktails since I tend to just say whatever my mood is in I doubt I'm going to care. I forgot to ask if I get a discount because I'm a globalist maybe I shouldn't I don't want to be a post on Reddit (since breakfast is included anyway)
Edit I found the USD menu it's much more doable, but at the same time I haven't done the math yet I did it at a glance. But I think I could be ahead.
Breakfast looks like its 20-35$ (if you do the Buffett)
Lunch looks like its 20-30$
dinner looks like its 50$+
Drinks look to be 10-14$ a pop
so you would have to drink ~ 3 drinks a day to break even. But I could put away some oysters too just if I did that alone I would be ahead. When I hear back I'm going to ask if globalists get a discount since the buffet is included if they aren't I'm probably going to pass on it if I have time to think about it. Since we are doing excursions I think I would actually pass on this along with being a globalist and getting that huge buffet with coffee gratis.

After a couple months of looking at all the different cards, researching strategies, crunching numbers and making a plan of how I can earn enough points for a CP next year, I finally applied and was approved for the SW performance business card yesterday. I don’t have any big expenses coming up that I know of, but I think if I just put all my normal spend on there over the next 3 months, I’ll be able to hit the $5k with no problem. It was a big step for me with that $199 AF, but I think it’ll pay for itself. I plan on purchasing MEM to MCO SWA tickets on the next release date this week for my May trip, so I SM’d Chase and requested expedited shipping. They replied almost immediately and said I should have my card in 2-3 business days so hopefully it arrives on time. I should have applied last week, but time got away from me. I know I have to be careful and watch my spending so I don’t hit the MSR before January.

I’m just kind of confused on my CP date. If I was approved on 10/22/22, I assume I have to meet the spend by 01/22/23 for the 80k RR SUB points. I was told before to be careful with my spend so I don’t mess up my CP dates and credit to 2022 and not 2023, but I’m not sure what that meant exactly. Can anyone clarify this for me? I don’t want to make a mistake and screw this up! Also, after researching on the best way to earn the CP, it was recommended to wait and apply 30 days after applying for the SWA performance business card for the SWA Priority Card for the 50k SUB. Is that still accurate? If there is anything else I need to know, I’m all ears !!

Would you happen to have any hotel advice for a family traveling to London? We are 6 and I'm willing to do 4 and 2 or 3 and 3 at a nice hotel - not the amazing fancy ones but something a bit better than an Ibis. I've got the Canopy by Hilton booked on points (1 room for 2) and then a Family Suite for 4 at $750 but any other recommendations? I would be willing to spend up to about $750 a night. I only have Hilton, MR, and UR. London hotels give major sticker shock and, while we usually stay in Airbnb, the decent ones were all as expensive as hotels.
We have stayed at both the Ritz and the Berkeley through Amex FHR. Both had rooms that fit 3 adults with no issues. Both were quite a bit less than what you are willing to pay (but of course could be a lot more now). The Ritz is the Ritz, and it was a fun stay on a special trip for DD. The Berkeley was more modern, the room was huge for Europe, and their rooftop pool is really something special. We spent some time up there in the evenings (they have a retractable roof, so it's nice there even if it's cold out). FHR gave us some credit plus a free breakfast. Ritz said it was only for 2 and it had to be room service, but it fed all 3 of us. The Berkeley didn't care and said that it applied to all 3 of us and they told us to order whatever we wanted from the menu. Hope this helps.

Both are close to Hyde Park Corner and that was the location I was looking for. The Berkeley was a pleasant surprise when the Ritz cost more than I wanted to spend for the dates we needed.

If you hit the $5,000 spend in calendar year 2022 and your points post in 2022 then those points won't count for the 2023/2024 companion pass. You want the 80,000 points to post in 2023.

Ok thanks. That’s what I was thinking, but wanted to make sure. I don’t think I’d hit the $5k spend by the end of 2022 so I should be fine, but I’m going to watch it like a hawk to make sure.

Exactly! That would be catastrophic to your plan if you earn those points in 2022. Wait until after your December statement closes before you finish the minimum spend.

You know, now that you say that, I think that’s what I remember someone telling me before that had me so confused. It was about the statement closing date, not the calendar date like I was thinking. Either way, I’m not going to press my luck and I’m not charging the final spend requirement until after January.
