If you've been to a Europa Park themed hotel, please share...

We've stayed at both the Hotel Castillo Alcazar and Hotel El Andaluz. The Castillo Alcazar was much more impressive theming. The included breakfast at both was extremely good. My kids want to go back now that Rulantica has opened. While there are some Disney copycat attractions, there are also many unique attractions with great theming and the prices are a steal across the board compared to Disney -- tickets, hotels food, souvenirs, etc. It's actually my favorite theme park. The park access from both is literally right out the back door of the hotel, it couldn't be more convenient.

We just stayed at the Krønasår hotel and it was absolutely fabulous, with some great attention to detail and a unique design. It was a last minute change of plans, after our trip to Efteling was spoiled by NL going red. The hotel was fully booked, but we were able to sign up on the waitlist and scored a room just in time. We actually spent two nights at the Cheyenne hotel at DLP right before our two days at Europa park (it was my first visit to both parks). We did not get a chance to visit the Rulantica waterpark connected to Krønasår, but I did walk over and look around the lobby/exterior, and it is definitely an impressive facility. The downside of the Krønasår is that it is a fair distance from EP, but we never waited more than few minutes for a shuttle bus.

The rooms were very well done and quite luxurious, especially when compared to the miserable dump that is the Cheyenne (which costs the same after deducting the ticket price and does not include breakfast). I especially liked that our room had a separate WC with a toilet and sink, aside from the main bathroom. The room also had a rather comfortable-looking bunk bed, which we had no use for, as it was just my husband and myself in the room. The included breakfast spread was also quite expansive and the cavernous dining room ensured that the guests were able to efficiently get in and out in time to make the park opening, as long as you make a free reservation in advance.

All in all, DLP was about what I expected, but Europa Park really impressed me quite a bit. There are definitely a few awkward similarities to Disney there, but is really part of the fun for me. I really enjoyed their vast collection of dark rides, especially those 'inspired' by Disney rides. There were so many of them hidden away in random buildings that we kept discovering new ones up until the final hours of day two, and many of them were walk-on! For me, dark rides are what makes Disneyland so special, and EP definitely has more than in any park I have been to (including all the Disney parks). Their collection of roller coasters is also world-class, and considerably more vast than any Disney park. They also do not charge extra for fastpasses, which are readily available on their app. My next trip to Europe will definitely involve a return to EP, and to another favorite of mine, Efteling. I would like to try some of the other hotels in EP, but it will be very tempting to just return to Krønasår.

Thank you very much, Downinit!

I like the Hotel Cheyenne more than you did. Maybe the American theme made me feel comfortable. (In Las Vegas, I've encountered many French tourists at the Paris-themed casino resort.) But, thanks largely to your post, I now am eager to stay at the Krønasår Hotel!

Thank you, Mel2014! Both of those hotels are VERY will themed and I'm a theme snob. In some of the photos when I clicked on "images" after I Googled it, I saw an attention to detail that Disney has been cutting back on. (For example at the Animal Kingdom Lodge at Walt Disney World, where they DID spare some expenses when they re-did their hotel rooms.) I'm really looking forward to staying at this resort!

The theming and exterior design of the Cheyenne was nice. I was just surprised at how awful the toiletries, towels, and bedding were. Not to mention how completely spartan the room was. The complete lack of elevators was also an annoyance, as we had luggage for a 3 week trip and my husband has knee issues. There is basically only one room option for the entire place. I would have happily paid a little more for a premium room, but the only option was paying more for a location closer to the lobby. I also mistakenly thought they would deliver the bags to the room with the Disney Express check-in, but now I realize that it is definitely not that kind of hotel. I probably should have done more homework, but the visit to DLP was a last-minute change from my original plans and I incorrectly assumed that a Disney hotel would have some kind of minimum standard. For the price we paid, we could have just booked a 4 star hotel somewhere near the RER and been much better off.

I stayed at Colloseo and it was amazing and I LOVED Europa Park! Granted, this was 9 years ago but it was amazing! I can't wait to get back.
That hotel looks fun! It reminds me of the Hotel Mira Costa next to Tokyo Disney Sea or the Portofina Bay hotel at Universal Orlando, but is probably more in my price range & is bravely to be cheesy--like the themed Las Vegas resorts of the 80s & 90s. (I'm from Wisconsin where cheesy is a good thing!)

Let me start by saying I have NEVER been to E.P. and what I say is based only on the small time I have started looking into this. That said, Kronosar seems to have 2 downsides (although 1, which I will note later, seems 'cancelled out' by location).

1- most obvious - distance. The whole point of on site is to be well.. onsite ; ) I understand there is a free shuttle bus - and from what I hear, it is pretty well scheduled. In fact that is the case with AKL, SSR and OKW DVC resorts at WDW also, yes? We know that those resorts are fantastic.. so on to point 2:
2 - no pool. That said, it is adjacent to the new waterpark, Rulantica. Of course you would then need to pay to get into Rulantica, whereas a pool at your hoytel is generally a free perk. That said (and please correct me if I am wrong which I may be), I believe a guest of any onsite E.P. hotel has the privilege to use any of the other resorts pools and facilities. Of course even if they DO allow you to pool hop from Kronosar to another hotel, you would then have to go BACK to the park, then ride on the shuttle bus in wet clothes/swim shorts wouldn't you? If so, that's not a pleasant possibility IMO...

We were there this past June and loved it. We stayed on property at El Andaluz. It was moderately priced, and had an awesome Medieval/ Spanish theming. it had both a bus stop to the train station, and a monorail station right outside the main entrance. Entrance into the park itself was in the back side of one of the hotel building, near the pool area, which made going back to and from our hotel room quite easy. I would considerate the hotel a Deluxe Resort by Disney standards, so highly recommend it.

Here’s some pics of both our hotel and the park
