It's A Mommy & Me Kind Of Trip! August 2014 TR *FINAL UPDATES 12/21 X2*

Yay, another update! What an exciting way to distract myself from doing homework

It looks like it was such a nice evening, I'm surprised that it was stormy after dinner. I guess that's Florida for ya :confused3

Those postcards are too cute! I love sending postcards to friend and family when I'm at Disney, and I'm sure they love getting mail from Main Street, USA

I use writing these posts as a way to distract myself from doing homework as well! :rotfl: I loved sending the postcards to my friends, and they were really excited when they got them!

OK, it has to be said. That Mickey in the stroller is adorable.

I completely agree. I can't even draw those characters on paper let alone asphalt with water. It is seriously impressive.

Yay, how great to meet up with your friend like that.

Isn't that the cutest! I love those water drawings, I'd never seen them until this trip, well I never noticed them before haha. It's so cool I wish I had talent like that!

It’s my birthday and my 9:30 class got cancelled so y’all get an update!! YAY!!!!

Day 2: Part 1 – The Breakfast of Champions!

Friday, August 22, 2014

When we left of last, Mom and I had stuffed ourselves silly with a delicious Thanksgiving dinner courtesy of Liberty Tree Tavern and returned to Pop! for some sweet dreams. :cloud9:

I woke up on Friday morning at about 7:45, mom had already been up and showered so I quickly shower and got ready. We left the room at 8:50 and were on a bus to MK by 9. The walk from our room to the main building was long because the paths went out of the way just to bring us to the room, later in the trip we’ll discover a short cut but that’s for later. We also had impeccable luck with the busses. There was always a bus pulling up right where we wanted to go as we got to the bus stop! Lucky us!

We got to MK at 9:20 (Also the bus ride from Pop to MK and MK to Pop is rather long) and made our way over to the monorail platform. We’ll be back for you MK, I promise! :lovestruc

We were plenty early for our reservation so we decided we had sometime to kill, so we hopped off the monorail at the Contemporary and did some shopping. I was in search of Alex and Ani bracelets! I had seen some of the girls I follow on instagram (Libby and Kristen) post pictures of new Disney ones and I needed one! We just looked at the Alex and Ani’s (for like 20 minutes) then I decided I wasn’t ready to decide which one I wanted! I was torn between so many! So my mom bought hers, the gold Tinkerbell, and we made our way back to the monorail.

We got to the Polynesian at 10:05 for our 10:20 reservation at Kona. Kona wasn’t hopping like it has been in the past when we got to breakfast, maybe we just ate at a weird time but there weren’t that many other people. We were seated at 10:10 our server’s name was Josh and he was okay but nothing special.

We decided to split a Tonga Toast and the macadamia pineapple pancakes. These are our two favorites and holy moly do they live up at every memory I have!

I love this juice!

When we were done with breakfast we walked around the Poly a bit, we looked at the paintings showing up how the renovations will look, I pin traded a bit, and we looked in the gift shops!

Then we walked outside, into a wall of heat… It was so hot outside, I will say this about 100 more times throughout this trip report because like it was THAT hot!

I tweeted:

“Disney World in August: too hot outside, too cold inside”

It’s the truth!

We hopped back on the monorail and headed back over to MK! We got back to MK at about 11:30/12 ish. Friends of mine who I worked with at camp were at Disney World for the day and in MK so we were texting trying to figure out where to meet up!

Walking down Main Street we had to take some pictures, naturally!

“I don’t know what I was just doing with my hand!” Mom is too funny!

Mom and I stopped to watch DAWM for a few moments, but the sun was so hot we needed to escape to the shade!

One of my favorite walk quotes!

My camp friends were over in Adventureland so we headed that way!

I got a text that says “ I SEE YOU!” and I turned around to find my friends Marissa and Andi!

Hey guys! We talked for a few minutes and they told me all about Miami and the rest of their trip. Andi is from Switzerland and he was headed back to Europe in a couple weeks so he was making sure to hit up all the big USA attractions!

We said goodbye and parted ways! It was really great to see them, but we all had things to do and they had such little time in Disney that I didn’t want to take any of their time away from them just chatting!

Up next: A Shmorgashborg of Meet and Greets!

Ooh cancelled class is totally an awesome bd gift.

bdg.jpg

Never eaten there, but even still I've heard about the Tonga Toast and macadamia pineapple pancakes. They definitely are famous and sounds like for good reason.

Awww, nice mom and daughter PP castle photos. Though it does kinda look like you might be on a date, lol.

Kona is a must! You should totally do it next time you're in the World!!! It's soooo good!

What? No ooey gooey cake at dinner?! That's something I need to keep in mind. I'm sorry you had to miss it. You'd have thought if you specifically requested it they could've made an exception. It's not like it wasn't available whatsoever. :confused3

I was there that night in MK, and you were right, everyone did have to run for cover once the rain hit.:rotfl2:

Those really are the two best dishes at Kona. Those pancakes....so delicious!

Hi everyone! I am so so so SOOOO excited and pleased to tell you all that I have been accepted to the DISNEY COLLEGE PROGRAM for Spring 2015!!!! AHHHHHH!!! I’m so beyond excited and happy, I just found out this morning! I’ve been waiting for an email for about a month now since my phone interview and today I woke up to a beautiful congratulations email and I’m so happy! I can’t wait to accept! I’m just waiting to hear back from my advisor before I accept! EEEP! :woohoo::cool1::banana::love::cloud9:

Day 2 – Part 2: Meet and Greets Galore!

When we left off I had just parted ways with my friends from camp, since we were in Adventureland and Jasmine and Aladdin we out greeting we decided we’d hope in line. There line had just closed so we were towards the front of the line to meet them next!

Princess Grace at your service!

While we were in line we talked with the people near us, the family in front of us had three adorable children and the mom had made adorable homemade autograph books with a page for every character. And the family behind us had a little girl and a bag full of princess dresses and every time they met a princess they would put her in the appropriate dress. Very prepared!

We also chatted briefly with a CM who I recognized from trips before. He was really nice, and I guess he is well known for making magical memories for guests.

Jas and Al

I took a really great selfie with these guys and put it on snapchat but I guess I forgot to save it to my photos, which is extremely sad but it happens. Mom however took a picture of us taking a selfie so I suppose that will suffice.

Magic Michael, the CM

We said goodbye to Aladdin and Jasmine and decided to head over to where Peter would be meeting, it’s the same place Ariel used to meet right at the bridge of Adventureland. His line was closed but I was determined to be first in line, so we grabbed a Dole Whip and lurked around waiting for him to fly away and the CM to reopen the queue.

I know that Peter is Peter and there’s only one Peter Pan, but I was really hoping it was MY Peter, my favorite Peter who I’m dating and met in June 2013. So I needed to be first in line!

We were indeed first in line so we just sat on the ground for about an hour and hung out until 1:30 when he came back from fighting Captain Hook.

I tweeted:
“First in line for Peter because bae”

We talked with the group behind us, as we always seem to do. It was the girl’s 16th birthday and she was with her two friends and they were also really excited to meet Peter. It was really nice talking to them, we talked about Disney and DCP and characters, it was great!

Peter graced us with his presence, but it wasn’t MY Peter, but you know that’s alright cause I was in Disney World so how could anything be bad?

I don’t know why but I always get really smitten with characters and I like can’t talk or function when I’m with them and I just stand there and smile and babble “Yeah” “Uh-huh” and “Yupp” whenever they say anything. They’re like celebrities to me. I dunno I guess get so excited!

Peter told me that Rapunzel was supposed to make him pancakes so if I see her remind her that she forgot to do that!

We left Peter and our FP+ for the Princesses was approaching so we made our way over to Fantasyland the long way. We swung by Punzie’s and used the ladies room because why would you use any other restroom?

We continued on, scanned our Magic Bands, and hopped in line for Cindy and Punzie. Even though it was FP+ the line was still substantial. So I was checking instagram looking at my phone, I saw a bunch of the “Disney people” as I call them, were in the parks today. Then you’d never believe who walked through the door! TAYLOR!

Taylor (@RealLifeDisney on twitter and shop owner of Taylor’s Thingamabobs) is one of my favorite people I follow on twitter and I had been seeing her post of Instagram all morning about being in the park and when she walked through that entrance way right behind us I was like “OH MY GOSH I FOLLOW YOU ON TWITTER AND INSTAGRAM!” and she was like “OH MY GOSH!” and we talked about Disney and DCP and her working in Disney and everything. She convinced me I must do DCP because at the time I was on the fence about it.

We also talked a little about Jess (Yes THAT Jess) and her roommate Meg who I also follow on twitter and Instagram. We talked for like 25 minutes because the line was so long but it was really great to talk to her, she was so sweet and she told me all about her relationship with Gaston.

Soon enough it was our turn to meet the princesses so we said goodbye and I went in to meet Punzie and Cindy!

First up Rapunzel!

I told her about Peter wanting his pancakes and she said that’d she’d get right on that!

Then Cindy!

I instagrammed this picture:

“Selfies with Cindy”

We had a little bit of time to kill before we need to head out of the park for our next adventure of the day so we hit up Mickey’s Philharmagic and Sir Mickey’s to look at the Frozen merchandise.

I love Philharmagic it is one of my most favorite attractions and has been since the first time I went on it in 2010. We ended up buying on of the Elsa/Anna dolls for my niece Jessica because she loves loves loves Frozen, as most children do. And we also got her the little figurine dolls of all the characters because she has those for a lot of the movies and she loves them!

We headed back down Main Street, and prepared for our dinner adventure!

Up Next: It’s An All You Can Eat Kind of Show!

I know I was so sad about the Ooey Gooey Cake! It was crazy the lightening and rain came out of no where! I love Kona! It's all delicious!

Hi Grace!! Jumping in a little late on this one, but I am here! I love reading TRs from people close to my age :goodvibes I'll start at the end and say CONGRATS ON THE DCP!!!! I am applying for fall 2015 and I'm so anxious to just apply already. What role did you get?!

I looove Pop, it's my favorite of the values. It's so much fun!

Oh man, I love the picture of the CM pushing Mickey in a stroller. Too cute.

Your Liberty Tree Tavern meal looks soooo good! Such a bummer you didn't get the Ooey Gooey Cake, though :(

KONA!!! Tonga Toast is amazing.

That is so awesome you got to meet Taylor!!! I follow her on Twitter and Instagram and she is so sweet!

WOW, what wonderful news!!! CONGRATULATIONS Grace!!! That's so exciting!

It seems the characters are really getting used to selfies. They seem totally prepared and into it.

Of course, absolutely a fan of you getting a photo with the CM. :thumbsup2

Nothing wrong with getting frazzled by Disney characters. They are celebrities!!

Congratulations Grace!!!

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

I'm so happy for you! What role did you get? I hope you decide to do a blog or something for your DCP; I'd love to hear all about it! I'm applying for spring of 2016, so in about a year. I really wanted to do Fall of 2015, but my adviser is making me wait :( She also told me that the only terms I could do it without pushing graduation back are Spring and Fall of 2016, so hopefully my applications go well! What was your application experience like?

I know how you feel about freezing up when you meet characters. I'm the same way! I just get so awestruck, especially around my favorite characters. Even though I'm eighteen, it's still amazing to see these characters that were such a big part of my childhood come to life.

Also, that Cinderella you met was so beautiful and absolutely perfect :lovestruc Cindy isn't my favorite princess (Belle is my idol, basically), but she still holds a special place in my heart. She is the original Disney princess to me. Sorry Snow :rolleyes1

YAYYYYYY

If you couldn't already tell I'm very excited! princess:

Day 2: Part 3 - Hoop Dee Doo Revue

We left the park and hopped on a boat over to Fort Wilderness. On the boat ride over the boat was pretty full, and we ended up sitting next to a family that was on our plane and our bus AND when we were talking to them we found out that they (the parents of the family) worked with my high school volleyball coach! What a small world!

The boat ride was decently short, but extremely hot. I can’t even put into words how hot it was on this particular day. I was not a happy camper and all the children around us were not happy either.

I tweeted:
“Dear children crying because of the heat, I feel you but please please stop”

Got our picture taken and then headed over to the shaded area near the bathrooms and the entrance. We hung out in the bathrooms for a bit just because it was air conditioned and out of the sun.

At right around four o’clock we were let into the theater and escorted to our tables. Mom and I were right up front to the left side, it was a great spot for the show!

Loved the cornbread, loved the entertainment, loved everything! It’s been forever since I’d been to Hoop Dee Doo, I was probably six the last time we did this so I remembered what it was but not the story line or anything from the show. It was great! I really enjoyed it I was so glad Mom decided on this!

The show and food were awesome! We headed back to MK via boat and made it back by 6. We had fastpasses for Space Mountain so we headed straight there.

We had a great ride, we took this lovely selfie, that was photobombed by the man behind us. Hello, sir!

We went on the Carousel of Progress next at about 7! I loveeee this ride! Absolutely adore it! I think I like this more than any other human ever like it, maybe besides Walt and my dad. I quoted the whole thing, sang along, annoyed my fellow riders. It was a success.

We headed over to New Fantasyland next!

The sunset was absolutely gorgeous this night!

We stopped in the Beauty and the Beast gift shop who's name I don't remember, and I played a little dress up! And I bought a castle challis!

We decided to take on It’s A Small World. We made it through, only after getting stuck in one room for about ten minutes. Everyone survived though.

Creepy clowns

We were anxiously awaiting our FP+ for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We were lurking around the entrance for about 15 minutes until it was time for our FP.

We really liked this ride, it was great and really cute, but personally I don’t think I’d want to wait in a really long line for more than 30 minutes for this.

As soon as we hopped off SDMT we headed right over to Main Street, we snaked through Tomorrowland over to Main Street by the ice cream parlor and waited for the Main Street Electrical Parade. We were running at this point because I had a plan and we needed to be right there as soon as the parade passed so we could follow it up Main Street.

My plan was a success! Perfect spot!

Up Next: A Castle Spectacular!

Congratulations again Grace!! I think I saw you were in merchandise? But I imagine you won't know where until you get there. So exciting.

See, this is why I love to talk to people on planes and buses and boats. You just never know the connections.

Must see Hoop Dee Doo some day.

Happiest Cruise that ever sailed, and yet... creepy demented clowns. Someone's lying!

Yeah I agree on Mine Train. Very enjoyable, but not worth a 30 minute or more wait.

Thank you! Yes I am in Merchandise! And yeah I won't know where until I get there. People are the best! I love chatting it up with people in line and pretty much anywhere!

THE CLOWNS! SOOO CREEPY! How is this is children's ride?!

Day 2: Part 4 – Please Stand Behind The White Line!

We were right at the top of Main Street, practically in the Hub, waiting for the night to begin! We were literally the first people row of people in our section. There’s a white line on the ground and everyone either needs to be behind it or up at the hub in front of their white line and CMs were telling everyone trying to stop in the middle that they wouldn’t be able to stand there.

We hit firework watching goolddd!

We chatted it up with the people next to us, watched some CMs explain “no sir you can’t stand in the middle of this walkway,” and patiently awaited Celebrate The Magic!

I love Celebrate The Magic, we saw it in June last year but it more Summer themed and when I saw it in May it was so amazing and I really got to watch it and I just loved it! Mom really enjoyed it too!

I love how everyone sings along with Elsa, like uh that’s so awesome!

Part of me is like wow that’s so spectacular, I love Disney and Disney Magic and just appreciating it! And the other part is like HOW, Tell me how! Show me your ways Disney!!! I absolutely loveee when the projection makes the castle look like its hopping and dance, it’s so amazing!

Celebrate The Magic ended and people started to scurry, but we just stayed put. No way we were letting anyone squeeze in front of us, no siree!

Wishes started, hyperventilating me came out, it was great. A spectacle in itself.

Every time I write a trip report I try to explain my love for Wishes, which is never dying and all consuming, and today’s story is: When I was in the eighth grade (like 6 years ago) I was fresh off a Disney trip, summer of 2008 – the Year of a Million Dreams! And it was the first time I’d seen Wishes and I just remember standing there in the Hub absolutely miserable because we’d been out late the night before and all the nights before at the Adventurer’s Club (My dad is obsessed!) and my feet hurt and I didn’t think I could stand any longer, and then Wishes started… And I just started up at the sky absolutely mesmerized and nothing hurt anymore and it was so beautiful and everyone was so peaceful and together and enjoying the show, everyone everywhere was happy and that was great. Then I got back to school and I wrote a big paper on the show and I’m pretty sure my teacher thought I was loco!

TINK!

These are my favorite fireworks, I love the noise they make and how they look, and just everything.

YOU’RE SO GORGEOUS WOW!

I’m SOOO OBSESSED!

Such an amazing show! Well done, Disney! You go Disney, four for you Disney!

The plan was to head out after Wishes, we were probably getting up early or something the next morning. But instead we thought lets stick around til 11 and see the MSEP! We knew the busses would be terrible right then and there’s nothing worse than tiredly waiting at a bus stop for what feels like ever, so we tiredly sat on a curb in the hub. Stacked out a spot!

While we were walking to the edge of the Hub, I saw this guy Bobby who I follow on twitter and instagram (He’s friends with Taylor who I met earlier this day and Jess!) so I ran over and said Hi! He was working so he just said hi quick but told me to tweet at him!

At some point a little bit later I tweeted:

“Today I ran into @RealLifeDisney and @BobbyAsen, what a small world”

Continued in Next Post

Day 2: Part 4 and 1/2 – Celebrate The Magic Take Two

So there we were sitting on a curb, but no one else was gathering, then at 11 no parade started but ANOTHER Celebrate The Magic, that’s fine with me!

Oh man the Lanterns!

We decided after our second viewing of this, we were tired and it was time to leave so we headed down Main Street but not without stopping at the confectionary! We waited in a really long line for some Almond toffee (my favorite) and some other really delicious treats!

I love macaroons but I didn’t really enjoy this one, I don’t really enjoy the citrusy flavors so that’s probably why, but it was beautiful!

Then we headed out, we got to the bus station I think a bus was waiting for us, we took the long journey back to Pop! made the trek to our room and climbed in to bed super tired and ventured on to dreamland! Man, I love sleeping!

Up Next: The day in which we do everything!

Oh yay nice to have such a great Wishes spot.

Wow I remember so well watching Celebrate the Magic back in early December after they added the Frozen section and knowing nothing about it at all (I actually thought Elsa must be the villain... oops). But I also remember being just completely captivated by it. I don't ever remember that happening with something I was seeing/hearing for the first time. I knew then this was going to be a big deal.

Who cares if teacher thought you were loco. Wishes is everything. Period. It makes all the bad stuff go away. :goodvibes

Day 3: Part 1 – Getting Artsy Fartsy
Saturday, August 23, 2014

Day three was upon us as we woke up this morning at some reasonable yet still early time.

Morning selfie

The plan was DHS and we had thought the park open at 8, so when we arrived at 8:30 and there were people outside we were oddly surprised. We made Rope Drop on accident, we claimed we had planned it all along, like yeah we’re just master planners, no biggie!

Since the Villain's party was today and we had opted not to attended we decided to get to DHS early and knock some of our must-do's for the trip off the list.

We were actually genuinely confused, “why is the line so long to get in? what’s going on right now?” then we came to our sense… silly us!

A bit before 9 we were let into the park and man was it already scorching! I think this was THE hottest day of the THE hottest week Florida has had in forever!

‘For the first time in forever I’ll almost die from the heat’ was being sung by children everywhere! Just kidding, but really it was that hot.

We made our way in with crowds but while they all ran for the hills, well for TSM, we ran for Starring Rolls. It’s breakfast time people! I thought we were the first customers of the day as we were approaching but a young couple beat us there.

Hello gorgeous…

…I mean…

… Flawless!

Tempted as we were by the delicious, beautiful cupcakes, we opted for more sensible breakfast foods. Well at least I did!

Mom’s cinnamon roll

Yes, I took a picture of my croissant…

We had an early FP+ for the Voyage of the Little Mermaid, there was still time to kill but not really enough time to do anything. So we headed over to One Man’s Dream because that was another thing I’d never really experienced.

We did the walk through section of One Man’s Dream for a few minutes, the AC was fabulous and the CMs gave us a little quiz card thing and if we found all the answers we’d get a price!

“Take a picture of me writing the answer down!” Okay, Momma.

We didn’t have enough time to cash our answers in for our price so we said we’d come back later in the day, and we headed over to Voyage of the Little Mermaid, I picked this FP cause this is one of those shows I knew I’d seen before like when I was very, very young but I couldn’t remember at all.

It was okay, I mean I liked it I just don’t necessarily need to go back and see it again anytime extremely soon. Mom made a point of saying “That poor guy,” Eric’s role is so minor that it’s almost unfortunate, like he plays dead and then he gets the girl. I digress.

I wanted to go to the Animation class, because I again felt like I had never really done this. We got a great teacher and we drew Rapunzel! Yay Punzie!

I was feeling real confident until we had to actually draw her facial features.

Mine – moms

The heat wasn’t going anywhere so we opted to hang out the Animation character area and we met some mouse friends!

There was barely any line for either, especially Minnie being tucked away over there in her room. Loveee her sparkly dress too!
