Just a couple of pics from our loop and the Fort bus stop from this morning.

Today was pretty laid back. We had lunch at Bahama Breeze. Teresa had Mahi Tacos and a salad.

I had Jerk chicken and shrimp pineapple bowl.20230824_134455.jpg
We then caught a bus to Hollywood Studios and on to the Skyliner. 20230824_180143.jpg

I did score a handful of these for $8 for the family back home.

We took a boatride over to the Boardwalk. Very sad sight 😢. The ESPN club was always one of our favorites. First day of our first Disney trip, we ended up there that evening and I can still remember the smells, the sounds and cheering fans watching all the different games that were on the screens. Our first meal.....Dingers....buffalo chicken strips that later became chunks. I can remember before it closed they started serving gourmet burgers. Now I am a burger man and I made the ultimate mistake of ordering the peanut butter and jelly burger....😩

A little entertainment at the Boardwalk.

Time to head back to the Fort for some spaghetti with some Louisiana hot sauce and garlic knots.

Wow! The Fort (and the whole place) seems really slow.

And I don't know what is taking so long on the ESPN Club. When I was there in January 2022 (19 months ago), they were taking the signs down and starting to remove some of the fascia. Typical Disney construction timelines I guess.

Bama Ed, I was unaware you where a. " I like Tater Tots" kind of guy.

.... covered in a generous splash of hot sauce and a light sprinkle of salt when they are hot out of the oven.

When I walked in, it brought back memories of the breakfast and dinner buffets that my family shared in at Trails End. Although expensive, the food by Disney standards was good. We always enjoyed the interaction with the cast members and other families eating there.😢

Glad to see you are making the best of an unfortunate situation Fort Wilderness / WDW style. We love the 1700 loop, hope the crowd levels are low when we get there in November. Thanks for the trip report and pictures. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for T!

Night before departure.......boat to MK.....boat to Poly for these.....🙂

While indulging, this happened. Can't complain, first of the trip.

Always happens.....I think I'm special and getting the super size Dole Whip and then I see this. I've been duped again 😢

Sure would like to know how they do that.....

Our road trip didn't end exactly how we wanted. We had 2 days reserved at the Myrtle Beach RV Park and dry dock. I have a lifelong friend who.lives in Myrtle Beach that I haven't seen in a couple of years. Unfortunately with the impending weather, we decided to start home.

As far as our trip to the Fort sans parks......it was really fun. No pressure, no alarms, no crowds (even though the Fort was a ghost town), no running to and from. Would I do it again......absolutely.

Here are some pics that I took throughout the week that I wanted to share.
First was that the food trucks were at the Fort. Not at the Settlement but at the Campfirre Singalong and the entrance to the Meadows pool are via the cart path across from the 1500 loop.

No Toasted or Pizza Cone trucks😢
There were also some Halloween decorations out.

From the Skyliner. I was one of the skeptics of the Skyliner but have to say that I enjoy a nice relaxing ride around the resort.

And finally a couple of pics from the Fort boat transport. They did not have the resort boats running to the resorts from FW. They did, at times, have the small boats running to the MK from FW and from MK to Wilderness Lodge and on to FW.

And from the Polite Pig. We shared in a platter with double pulled pork, (replaced the smoked chicken with more pork), brisket and cheddar bratwurst with sides of baked beans and brussel sprouts (they were excellent) with cole slaw and corn muffins.

I think that is about it for our FW Road Trip sans park and unfortunately sans Myrtle Beach. Everyone in the storms path stay safe. Thanks for following along.
Until Halloween at the Fort in October.......

When I was there at the begining of the 50th, 2 years ago? they had way more stuff on the menue. They had the familly fried chicken meals enough to feed 4 , for like 35$ it was a ton of food. And the best price in disney. Looks like they are downsizing again.........

Well, I think I had read in a review from some website (or on here - everyone did a review in the first week, it seemed) that it was still shown as available on-line. And I just checked and sure 'nuff, the formerly-known-and-loved GiddyUp And Go (referred to as GAG) 8-piece is available on the TE menu on the official WDW website.

Don't know if you might have any luck changing out the listed sides for beans or slaw.
