I did lunch there in December. I have had lunch there before, and dinner, too.
I mean, in terms of heaviness, well it depends on what you order of course. You say your getting a steak. Well, actually, depending on what steak you get and the cut, you might actually find yourself not fulfilled, to be honest. One of the reasons some people have some issues here is you don't really always get much of anything with your steak. It's pretty no frills and in my case, the steak I got was like 40% all fat, so while it looked huge, there actually wasn't that much of a portion that was really edible, to be honest, so I was quite glad I did order apps because I definitely would have been unsatisfied with that, even for lunch.
This place is fine. I mean, I go here once in awhile, if I am in the mood for it, on my vacations, but it isn't usually my first choice but it's not bad (some people think it is, though!). It's just that it isn't THAT great and since they charge 2 credits for it now, it's not truly worth that in terms of the overall quality you get from the meat or the portions. But it is a good enough steakhouse, there are just better options in Disney for steak and indeed better options in the area overall for a more complete meal as well.
However, I had a very good time, the place can be busy at any time though, even lunch, and there usually is a wait even then and with the dining reservations - it is still a popular place even with the negative reviews people post of it. Sometimes there are service issues but thankfully my servers have always been very nice but I did witness another couple screaming at the hostess over their meal experience a couple of years ago, the likes of which I have never seen at Disney before (while I was waiting to be seated).
I actually have pics of my steak. I know it looks tremendous but looks can be deceiving since there alot of fat that had to be cut away and could not be eaten.
And oh yeah, I do believe the bread service is complimentary and I really liked that. here is that, too:
That should help fill you up.
I also had the Cheddar Cheese Soup:
It really isn't my think, but some love it. I have nevertheless had this twice though LOL. I mean, it basically tastes like what it is, cheese soup. It's not bad.
And then I had this amazing Christmas themed eggnog cheesecake dessert:
I do like the atmosphere here (it's rustic and dim), though, and it's a nice overall experience if you check your expectations at the door. Here's me with a drink LOL.
