Most awful thing you saw at the park?

I was there for Christmas and New Year's Eve and this was maybe 15 or so years ago. One of the masts from the Sailing Ship Columbia somehow got away from the ship, flew towards the land, and hit a woman in the head, knocking her down. It was so shocking. It really made me realize that this is still a place that anything can happen at any minute.

Worst case I ever saw of a child being forced on a ride was Space Mountain. DH and I were behind a family with a boy of maybe 10 and he clearly did not want to go. He was crying and freaking out and grabbing onto the guardrail trying to stop himself in place while his family dragged him down the ramp. And they were laughing! Making fun of him. He got down to where you get in and ran and hid behind a CM screaming and crying, "no! no! no!" Finally a CM said to his parents, he can not go on this ride. Someone had to stand with him and they were so mad at the boy that they missed the ride that they were yelling at him as they walked away! DH and I were shocked!!

The other thing that bothered me last trip was this boy following his mom and he was so tired and he kept saying, "I just want to go back to the hotel to rest for a bit," and she turned and grabbed his shoulders and yelled, "I paid a lot of money for this trip and we are not wasting anytime resting!"

It was kinda shocking and sad to see :(

while I have never been guilty of forcing my child to do anything to the point of making them puke...it is frustrating when you traveled to get there and the child is suddenly afraid to ride the rides you know they would like.

I have been guilty of changing a baby in public...but always in my stroller or on my lap, NEVER right where we eat. while your babies waste may be tolerable to you it's not to the rest of us.

Sadly my husband and I got in a HUGE fight at walt disney world in 2007. We went over Christmas. It was his first time being away from his family for the holidays and it was the first 'white Christmas' Denver had had in a long time.... Christmas morning me and our son woke up bright eyed and ready for fun...my husbands mood was less excited. His mother kept calling and with each call his mood retreated. By the time we got to the park (Epcot) his mood was so bad he was griping and complaining about the heat, humidity and anything else he could think of...I had enough and I told him maybe he should just fly home to his mommy. Well that did it. Our poor son was subjected to all this stupidity. we got of whatever line we were in and proceeded to fight in front of God and Everyone about the trip, his mom, my mom.....yuck. Needless to say it was a terrible day and a serious black mark on what should have been a dream trip. We are planning a trip to Disneyland for May of 2014 and our now 13 year old son said he doesn't want to go if we can't behave ourselves. Thankfully we have done A LOT of growing up since then and don't intend to ruin this trip.

We have some good friends who got in a big fight at Disneyland that same year. We all jokingly call it the home to colossal fights.

Yes it is the person'ss fault for changing a diaper on a table or something, but in my opinion the CM's are just as at fault for this. THere is absolutely no discipline. We saw this twice. Both times we alerted a CM. The first one shrugged said sorry and cleaned the table. THe seconde one approached the woman and told her she couldn't do it. She continued to change the diaper in front of him and said I can. He just walked away and the woman went on her way ..

People actually change diapers like that? That is just disgusting!! There are changing tables in every restroom, that's unnecessary, unsanitary and so self absorbed, I can hardly believe it! I've changed my children in their stroller a time or two, but only if I had to due to lack of a clean changing table. And I still do it in private, or create my own private. I try to remember where I am and to think of others. If folks wanted to see bathroom behavior they would go to the bathroom. When other places in the park, this should not have to be a concern.

Pluto was taking pictures with everyone when this little boy (I guess around 8 or so) came up to get his picture taken. As the boy stepped up Pluto went to put his arm around him like they always do. Well aparently the boy didn't like that and turned and struck out. Well you can imagine an 8 year old and the size of the adult inside the Pluto suit where that punch landed. Put poor Pluto to the ground writhing in pain and he laid there for quite awhile. Once he did get up the CM escort promptly led him to the nearest back stage area. At the time it happened it was an oh wow moment, but now we think of that and laugh our butts off. :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

My kid all of a sudden and inexplicably freaks out on carousels. Only on the animals but not seats. Doesn't freak out on roller coasters or other rides, but pretty much just carousels. Use to love them too. Would shake the pole once it stopped in hopes that it would start again. Then once I saw a little freak out and a demand to get off once it started.

Right now I can get my kid on the horse just fine - all smiling and happy while it's stationary, and it's either tolerable or maybe a little complaint once it starts moving. It's really odd too. It's something about the speed. Put the kid on a pony at a county fair, and that was fine. I'm hoping this is just a phase.

As for the worst thing I'd seen - fortunately I haven't seen much that I'd say was that bad. The absolute worst thing I've seen is someone arguing with a CM. I think he'd gotten RSR FPs and was past the return window. It was last year, but even then I think they were serious about enforcing return times. He was screaming at the CM - complaining about how much money he'd spent on the trip. The CM wasn't rude or anything, but stood his ground and threatened to call security.

The most truly awful thing I've seen was in the middle of Main Street an older man lying face down, ringed by Disney suits and CM's, all facing outward. Clearly the man was deceased and they were trying to block the view of guests. We didn't hang around to gawk, so I don't have any more details than that. This was probably 20 years ago.

No ride or meal is that important that you cant take a kid to the bathroom to change a diaper. i hate seeing babies changes in all sorts of places.

I saw a woman being pushed in a wheel chair with a baby that looks like they just drove from the hospital after the birth.

most cast members cant do anything. they would have to get a security one and even then its just frowned upon. a cast member cant tell someone that they are gross, no matter how much they want to

Last year during MNSSHP firework show right in front of the castle a little girl who was between 10-12 years old and peed while her mother held the skirt to her waitress costume. I was watching the fireworks and I hear DH start yelling. He told them they needed to go to the bathroom and she was old enough there was no excuse. The mother of the girl said the bathroom was too far and they didn't want to lose there seat on the bench. People were furious because pee was running down the sidewalk onto people who were sitting watching fireworks. Too bad there wasn't a cast member near us.

Last week I was in line at the Matterhorn when I noticed a large family party with a young boy (I would say 6-8) who was terrified of going on the ride. Mom and dad just kept saying you will like it, it's fun, etc... and he was clearly not happy (crying a bit). They got put into the bobsled in front of mine so when I first got in I quickly noticed they were at the seatbelt check and frantically waving to a cast member. Turns out he was so scared, he was puking all over the car and couldn't stop. Poor CMs didn't know what to do since he just kept doing it but finally they got him out with mom, but poor dad had to run through the ride in the front seat since they were backed up. The rest of the family offered him no sympathy.

It was just sad and gross and I felt so terrible for that boy. Thankfully the CMs were extremely nice to him and didn't make any comments that would make him feel worse. Too bad the family didn't feel the same way.

I saw similar but with out the puking. It was so horrible, they were in the row front of us on Pirates of the Carribean boat. I think all of our hostile stares shamed them into getting off the ride before it took off. Really really horrible, a little boy about 4-5 losing his gd mind. I kept thinking that they never are going to get that kid on a ride again-he will be scarred. Thinking about it now almost a year later is making me so sad (and mad).

That is horribly gross!

Um, any cast member can tell a family they can't change a baby on a restaurant table! The judgments (that's gross) would have to be left out, of course, but they could absolutely tell them they can't do that there. So disgusting!!

I completely agree!!! I'll take it a step further and say they are not doing their job by ignoring it. Their job is to give service to ALL guest and I would bet the large majority of guest don't want to eat at a table that a baby was changed on.

This is wrong on so many levels!!! Flat out disgusting! !! AND illegal in the state of California. Out of curiosity I just looked it up. Wikianswers said the fine for public urination in Ca is $270. I wonder if that woman would think her spot on the bench was worth that!

These stories are disturbing and disgusting. I am so glad that I have not seen any of said gross incidents. :faint: And lucky too. Some people just really have no manners or consideration for others.

Perhaps that lady that did not want to give up her seat, should consider having her daughter wear a jumbo size pull up or depends or something like it. That way she can just go wherever she is, and no one will be the wiser. Hm... that gives me ideas again. Oh no!
:faint: ha

I think that was 2006 - that's the year I got married & we had FEET of snow in Denver for Christmas, a huge blizzard that shut the city down for a few days!
