Hi, we will be staying in Oceanside, Ca for a week in September, it will be me, dh, MIL, dd(5), dd(1). My mil has offered to watch the girls at the hotel so dh and I can go out by ourselves for the night and I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for things to do, maybe a little restaurant on the beach to have dinner at or something like that.

TIA

Rockin' Baja Lobster has a location in Oceanside. I've never eaten at the that location but I believe it's right on the harbor. The "Original Big Baja Bucket" is what we usually get. The bucket has plenty of yummy food for two: slipper lobster tails, shrimp, grilled chicken and carne asada. The atmosphere of the restaurants is fun and lively:

Fish House Veracruz in Carlsbad (south of Oceanside) is also a nice place to eat if you're into seafood...also very yummy:

Karl Strauss Brewery in Carlsbad (close to Legoland) might be another option. The beer is good there (so I've heard...I don't drink beer, LOL):

There are also a lot of restaurants in Del Mar (a few miles further south), but I'm not too familiar with what's good.

HTH and have a great time!

We were married in Carlsbad and celebrated our anniversary last night. I made a picnic dinner and we ate it on the beach just before the sunset. We both agreed that is was one of our favorite meals.

I can help you find a nice beach and place to find gourmet picnic supplies if this might interest you. We broke the no glass on the beach rule with a bottle of wine. :ssst:

I would echo support on the idea of enjoying a light picnic on the beach in Carlsbad or near by. Be spontaneous and have take out on the beach! Here is one view at or near Carlsbad:

And if you have the time - why not hop south along the coast to explore the beaches a little? Here is a web site for ideas plus another 2 photos at Solana Beach (south 10-15 miles or so):

Encinitas Beach I don't think the colors get this saturated very often (1 in 100 sunset!) - but I thought it was a nice picture. :dance3:
