Port Orleans Riverside for $89 in May.

OK so I JUST called and used one of the rate codes for 5-25 thru 5-28 and was told there was no availability at all stars and that it was $496 for PO Riverside (tax included). How did you all get it for $89 or $99/night????? Is it because I want to go on a holiday weekend??? Did I do this wrong? How can I get that cheaper rate?

I also tried this afternoon and was told there were no discounts for my travel dates (May 3-10).

Call CRO, 1/800-828-0228 you get a much better deal.
Go to http://www.marywaring.com/saveonwdw.htm.

This is the site noted as Click Here at the top of the Resort Board.

Do not give up. It may take several calls, but it sure is worth the effort.

Be very polite to the CM's. They will go out of their way to get you the discount. Sometimes they have to search several computer screens to get to the discounts.

Be persistant, but nice. It took me three calls on Monday and all CM really tried to get the discount.

Be flexable in date and resort. I moved the day from Wednesday to Friday and got my discounted room at AKL in May on Monday!

TedL..do try again! I was
told this before and called back 5 minutes later and got the discount I was looking for. Just be nice. :)
I made reservations yesterday for our trip next week, April 23- 27. I had no trouble getting the discount of $89. plus tax for a room at CSR.
This wasn't supposed to be a Disney trip...but I'm flexible like that. :D

I've Can't wait to hear your good report!

I called CRO yesterday to check on reservations for PO FQ Aug. 13-20, she quoted $149 a night, I then asked if I could use "this" code, she checked and said Yes!
So I got it for $89 a night! I'm waiting for my papers in the mail now to send my deposit. She didn't mentin anything about a coupon or anything else.(It wasn't for any particular state)
Keep trying! :D

I used a code from from the marywaring link and got the rate because I'm a Texan. (the benefits just keep on coming) Also had e-mail from someone who secured the rate through Shades of Green. If you have a soldier (or might find one ) you might try to secure it that way. I'd call CRO and have them read you the restrictions perhaps a vet or retiree could get you the rate.

Keep trying:
My 3-night 4-day vacation was $2050.00
it's now a 4-night 5-day vacation for $1480.00
same resort, same dates (traded ultimate hopper for hopperplus passes

Another problem is that I made the reservation through Walt Disney Travel Co. They told me that they would charge me a $100 fee if I cancelled my existing reservation. Has anyone had luck with transferring deposit money from WDTC to CRO without penalty?

I did this several times by calling CRO. Call CRO, They did all the work me and the same for you. You are not cancelling anything. You are simply asking to adjust the room fee by CRO. It is no problem. They can change your ressie on the computer. ;)

ditto on changing through CRO. I had to be transferred to a CM that was with the travel company but they refunded my deposit and are sending me a confirmation letter send in a new deposit.

keep trying it works.

Just called RO again. And again I was told there was no discount available. I am using the code "Charlie Apple Charlie" available to all, not a particular state. And I have had no luck for my dates (May 3-10). Any suggestions?

TedL,

Try a different resort, when I called there were no available rooms at my resort for the discount rate but there were some at another..

Just wanted to add our success story to this thread. I called today about our CBR reservations for next week. I asked the CM if she would mind checking three discount codes for me to see if any of them were available for our reservation. All three were! She reviewed each code, told me what price each would yield and she confirmed us for the best deal. For us, this was discount code *** that I got off the site that has been recommended here several times. We saved $363 for four nights, standard view at CBR. My kids love this resort and my husband and I love the savings! All we need to do is show our Annual Pass at checkin. Thanks to Foodlover and all the others who contribute savings ideas and knowledge to this site!

Edited to remove code. Codes not permitted to be posted on the DIS. You may find codes at Mary Waring's site mentioned in earlier posts.

No luck. I called yesterday afternoon, and I was told that there are only a certain number of rooms set aside for the "codes". The CM told me that PO Riverside is almost full for my dates (May 3-10). So then I tried looking for an upsell to another resort. I figured what the heck, I'm already at $165/night for waterview, what's a few bucks more if I could get into the Yacht or Beach club. But the CM told me that there were no discounted rooms available there either. I do think that there are rooms available at the Caribbean Beach club, but I've stayed there before and don't like it. So I'll probably stand pat.
