READ POST 1 & 2 FIRST-Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group Planning and Information-*No Spoilers*

Holiday weekend crowds as well as a big girls soccer tournament all weekend at ESPN Wide World will probably have the BG going quick tomorrow and Monday as well.

At 7 am, if your app is open to the join boarding group page, will it turn red in front of your eyes right at seven? Or do you keep refreshing?

While practicing at home, I have always had to refresh the page to get the Join Boarding Group to turn red. But, this is a great question, and I am curious to hear what others have to say.

I suppose I should feel lucky, we rode Rise yesterday (one and a half times actually...) however the experience was unpleasant and totally soured everyone in my group. The "blue tents" were giving people whatever they wanted, fast passes for another ride, no problem, free days, sure. But the last thing I wanted to do was wait in another line (and they were LONG lines...) Is there a customer relations email address for Disney? I'd like to speak with them at minimum to let them know what a mis-step it was to keep people hostage in line for 2.5 hours.

Even Airlines have a limit to how long they are allowed to keep a plane on the tarmac. I think Disney may need to evaluate their procedures for keeping people stuck in line when there is a malfunction.

Please let me know about the email address and thank you.

If you break it down far enough, there are fractions of seconds between each. Filled in order still. Imperceptible differences in time to the human eye but not a computer
Yah I do not think people understand server side logistics when it come to this.

A server is essentially a bunch of doors with people knocking on them. Those doors can open all at the same time, and quite literally give the same BG to multiple people at the same instant. HOWEVER, its quite possible the BG groups have a fixed or floating number. If fixed, it could send you to the next BG higher if your party size is too large for what is left in that BG (you have 10 people and only 2 spots left in that BG) orit could allow the entire party in based on the time they accessed the “door”. The former is much more likley than the latter.

Which means you could easily have 5 BG almost full and waiting for a party size that is appropriate to close that BG. Giving the illusion of randomness, but really just efficiency .

What you're missing is that a 1-day 1-park comp ticket is just not that big of a deal from the company's perspective. Why get GR involved, when it can all be handled by the software, and make more Guests happy to boot?

Exactly - I’d suspect in the vast majority of cases it would either be used to allow someone with a standard ticket to hop one day or allow someone to add one day to a longer trip (where the incremental value is o my about $10. Trust me - Disney extended my AP by three months once as compensation for something. That compensation cost me a lot of money when we added a trip we wouldn’t have otherwise taken!!!!

Honestly surprised it lasted that long with how busy the park is

Yeah - my view was if they could get at least 5 minutes for these minor holiday/event weekends that would be good. Key thing wound be that anyone in the park right at opening can get a Regular BG. I’d suspect that outside Xmas and the week around Easter, this might be as bad as it will get from now on.

Coming from someone who was there the day things went from 'ample' time for everyone in the park to join a regular BG even during the 'busy' Christmas week to a day where they were gone in minutes - what at the time was a rapid and rather jarring shift compared to past performance - I still think it is prudent for anyone going over a holiday time period to be prepared for anything and be flexible with whatever one encounters on the ground on any given day.

So you need to erase some of what you wrote above from your brain as you have some things turned around. It’s OK, this stuff can be tricky for those who don’t go often.

Since you have your tickets already purchased and assigned to the right individuals, all you need is a plastic hard card. You can stop by Guest Relations outside the park (the most popular recommendation around here) or a ticket booth that morning - they will scan your e-mail bar code and give you plastic hard card tickets.

Alternatively, CMs at the tapstyles can scan your e-mail bar code / give you your hard card tickets right there. They all have scanners and hard tickets on them and it’s a relatively quick scan your code/program the cards routine.

However you get your hard card, those cards will be “linked” and ready to go with nothing else to do - you just then need to enter the park and wait for park opening to join a Boarding Group with your phone.

You should bring your ID and ideally the credit card used to purchase the tickets just in case that morning.

Hope that helps.

Oh you REALLY brightened my day with this info. Thank you SO much for this clear answer. This is exactly what I was thinking with my original question a few pages back, but the responses took me in a different direction and got me confused from my original understanding. I'm so relieved. Thanks so much.

Saw someone post on Facebook they started coming through the line handing out water so might be a bit of a lengthy one which is a shame after yesterday

I was in a line last week that stopped for about 30 minutes and they came through with bananas, so I wouldn’t assume that coming through with snacks or something necessarily means a long delay.

Rode this morning at 9am with FP from yesterday. We got right in bypassing all BGs. I think the BGs are going to be off because of all the fastpasses.
Thanks for the info! Congrats too! They are moving slowly thru BGs right now so I was thinking there might be a steady stream of FP returners.

On my way to Orlando and checking the thread in prep for HS tomorrow. I’m really glad regular BGs lasted 6 minutes. I was afraid of another 90 second fiasco between the holiday weekend and yesterday’s performance. Fingers crossed there isn’t another repeat of yesterday for a long long time!

Sharing my experience from yesterday with y’all after a very long day.
Party of two-mom and 15 year old daughter got up at 5:45am and on a bus by 6:15am. We arrived at HS at 6:30. Pulled up app at exactly 7am got BG 40.
Rope dropped TSM and met some nice people
with BG 30. Wished them a great ride then went to
YC for breakfast.
Back at the park when BG 36 was finally called. Ran into our BG 30 friends in GE and they told us they waited in line for 3 hours and were finally dumped from the ride and given a fast pass to
come back.
We got called to ride around 2pm. Walked an empty line and experienced part of the ride to be quickly escorted out. They gave us a fast pass good only for 1/17. Asked if we could use it another day as we had the fireworks party and DAH at MK and was told to ask at Guest Services.
I explained our situation and the girl at the door was particularly snarky and rude. I was told I could use it the next day.
Back to the hotel to shower and tried one more time to get on the ride around 4pm. Talked to a great CM at GE who directed me to guest services in GE. They wrote me a recovery ticket for a pass on Sunday. Spent a very tired evening at DAH and in bed by 1am.
We did everything right and unfortunately everything did not work out that day. It was a long day of waiting and we did not get to ride.
Overall we were disappointed because we so wanted to ride. Hopefully Sunday goes well. I was told I would see my pass in my account but as of right now nothing.

We will be there 1/28 for reference, only one day. My family is a group of 6, my sister's family is a group of 4 (one under height requirement, so we will need rider swap) and my mom. So 10 altogether. We don't have to ride together, but if would be nice. We are all friends. (On the app and IRL. ;) ) How would you best approach this? All try as one group? Try as two groups and have the rider swap little kid wait with with the group with the lower BG after they ride. I've never done ride swap at Disney. We went our first time when my kids were tall enough for everything.

1. We are not staying on property- therefore no magic bands. One day tickets were purchased via the MDE app. From what I understand, I'll need to take my confirmation email barcode to a ticket window and obtain the plastic cards. I have our 6 party members entered into my app from when I purchased the tickets and made our FP reservations, but will I need to take any additional steps to link our tickets in the app before being able to get boarding groups?

My bad for leading you down the wrong path. I saw that you asked about linking tickets in the app and missed that you already made FPs which obviously means you already linked the tickets in your app. With this thread being so long I have to admit that I am skim reading posts. That's what I get. Sorry if I caused any unnecessary stress.
