Ok so for sure I think Ill just stick with this method! This is what I meant by the AT AT screen. I think ive been successful on my tries that way each time. The other way, it has worked for me a couple times by joining the virtual queue, but lately i get the red screen more than the “Not so fast!” when I try that way.

Specifically, these days, when we are talking about boarding groups gone in 3 seconds or under. You will never be able to get exactly the same time lapse between pulling down to refresh and the server completing your request to render the Join button at 7 am. The most reliable is AT-AT. Even Join Virtual Queue method, so long as you are not refreshing there, is better than manual refresh. It is already designed to auto-refresh to bring up the Join button, when you get to the second Join at 7 am or 1 pm.

After mixed success for weeks practicing from home, I landed BG 4 this morning. When I showed up to the attraction there were very few people there and the ride attendants escorted us past the first part of the ride and straight to the ride vehicle. Disappointed, I went to GS to to complain that there was no notification of this or an option to ride later and the best they could do was a FastPass for any other attraction at the park.

Trying again tomorrow. Also, the park was absolutely jammed by 10:00 am.

Were you able to get it today at 7 am?

I practiced successfully at 1 pm today, so I assume some BGs must have been given out.

Did anyone else practicing today feel like or actually did have their Friends and Family screen take forever to load? I could tell it was taking forever and that I was doomed and I was.

I'm the same. I am only successful when I do the refresh method. It really must depend on the phone and maybe data/WIFI speed?

It's very possible. I suppose do what you are most comfortable with. To me, it just leaves more room for an error. I speak only from practice perspective but I don't feel it's any different for actually getting the boarding group as only the last screen differs between getting one versus during practice.

You've motivated me to practice more over the next couple weeks! When I've usually pushed 'join' from the main screen, it's like my phone pauses before doing anything. I have an Android phone that's about 3yrs old. I don't get any kind of pause when I use the refresh method though. I'll try both methods over the next couple weeks.

I have an Android phone as well (Samsung Galaxy S20 +). Not sure if the IOS app is more stable since I haven't tried. I always go to the Play Store to make sure there isn't a pending update for the app (I have seen it happen many times, where I am not forced to do the update automatically but I find that it says Update instead of usual Open). Though, I have had my share of MDE app crashing even with this year old phone. I have had app close on me midway through or even getting a login screen once in middle of browsing, even though I was logged in already. I just went back and it recalibrated it. I try to visit My Plans and Join Virtual Queues from the bottom right menu just to make sure that the app recognizes me through its cache or memory, just before the actual time.

I've been successful the majority of the time during practice. I think the times I haven't been, it's taken longer than normal to load the "who's in your party" screen, which is something you can't help! I've been trying a bunch of combinations....wifi on/off, joining from AT-AT, joining from virtual queue, etc. Honestly, I think it's a combination of timing, luck, and a whole bunch of prayers to the Star Wars Gods.

I think next week will really be the time to practice as it's the first time the parks are full - going to try my best to hit all of them!

Quick Question. My husband and daughter are in the park right now. They were unsuccessful getting a boarding group at 7 AM. They both show on my Disney Experience app. Can I also try to register them at 1:00? I have much faster fingers, but I am in Dallas so have no idea if it would even let me do it. I made them practice the last few days, but I don't think they really grasped how fast the spots went. Any suggestions??

From what has been said here in the Dis, you can try to get them a boarding group from home. Many people have said they were successful doing just that. Good luck!!!

When you don't have an active park reservation the system does not pre-select anybody. Perfectly normal. Just hit the Join-Join-Join.

Even when people do it for real just do the Join-Join-Join. If members of your party aren't selected do not worry about it and just keep hitting join until you get a BG. If members of your party didn't get the BG because of this talk with GET (Guest Experience Team) and they may be able to help you.

I was. BG 80, there was a slight delay in loading the 2nd screen and that probably cost me a better number, but I'll take it. Hopefully the entire attraction is back up and running.

Also worth noting...HS is just absolutely jammed by 9:30 am. I'd recommend getting your BG if you can, rope dropping your primaries and getting out of there!

Yes, you may login at home and try for them too!

They're already up to BG 71 at 12:40. You should be called soon! Looks like it should be a good day for those trying to secure BG at 1:00!!
