Star Wars: Galactic Starship (resort experience) News

I also wonder how guests are going to deal with the parts of their stay where they have to do things like "plan a heist" or "hide a stowaway" or "arrange to steal a ship". What if you don't want to do any of that stuff, you just want to relax and enjoy the SW ambiance? I'm going to be interested to see how this all plays out.

There is definitely a lot that we're all going to have to wait and see during the initial rollout, but there are some hints towards how involvement in the story may work from the official Disney Starcruiser site (quoted from the 'highlights' tab) ...

"While your story unfolds, you’ll have the power to choose your path. Will you follow the rule of the First Order or join the Resistance in a secret plot? Strike a bargain with a gang of smugglers or sit back, sip a cocktail and watch it all from a safe distance?"

I'm figuring Disney has planned for guests of all involvement levels. A lot of this will really come down to how well they train the CMs. As others have mentioned, when you introduce the human factor to this experience you can have everything from scared/shy kids, ambivalent adults, to annoying super-fans. You're going to need the CMs to watch the guests responses and try to control the situation to make sure everyone has a good time. ... not going to be an easy task

you will be taken to star wars from the hotel period, you will then be taken back. so you are paying $5,999 for 2 adults and one child for a 4 days and 3 night experience.
straight from the mouse's mouth. Have a nice time. I love star wars but at that price I can go on two 5 day cruises with the entire family of 5 have the kids in a camp having fun at night , a casino or dance club for us, two pools, all you can eat anytime of day or night, etc. Been going to Disney for years, not a fan of their food.

If you think a cruise with kids in camp, dance club, casino, all you can eat as any type of comparison to this Star Wars themed immersive experience you aren’t their target customer. I think their target customers are those folks with full, film ready cosplay outfits that are dying to pretend to be in the Star Wars universe, not as a spectator but as a full fledged denizen of this Star Wars place. Their response to the price is either “Sure, where do I sign up” or “that is my dream vacation and I’m saving for it right now!”

Thanks, I missed that! Glad to see that's an option, although how are the CMs going to know who's willing to play along and who isn't? It might get tricky if they go around trying to find somebody to play along and nobody's game.

Honestly, I don't see this attracting a lot of families with kids. Families are going to be going to the parks, if the kids want Star Wars they'll go to Galaxy's Edge. I think this is going to mainly attract the hardcore adult SW fans and cosplayers who can afford the massive price tag. But we'll see!

Try 3 days, 2 nights - and it’s actually get there at 1:00pm, full day the next day, leave at 10am the next, so more like 2 days and 2 nights. I’d be excited for 4 days/3 nights!
you're right. wow, that's even worse, LOL thanks.

The difference between someone dressed in full costume who is very eager to role play versus someone who just wants to sit back quietly is going to be VERY easy to determine.

The actors aren't going to need to waste their time trying to drag reluctant people into playing (and will undoubtedly have orders NOT to do that) when there will be more than enough available people who are ready to play.

Honestly I think they should have doubled the price.

Seeing people in here breathlessly throwing them $600 for a family of four to get 3 hours of a half-baked MNSSHP in Boo Bash, 6K for the 2 nights here seems like they are leaving money on the table.

Not to mention, on top of very limited park time, but no pool for families with kids.

Especially when you dont pay well.

Yeah, there's that, too. The kids might be amused for a while but I wonder what parents are going to do if the kids get bored and start asking when they can go see Mickey and Cinderella.

A VIP tour costs thousands of dollars for a family of 4 and they've become extremely popular since the reopening. It's a minimum of 7 hrs, the price I'm seeing now is $850 per hour. with that, you get to add the price of a park ticket and hopper and it does not include food or a tip to the CM. That's comparable to the cost of this package. Yes, you can have up to 10 on a tour, but not that many people have a group that large. And wait until the paid FP system is implemented and see how people buy into that - me included. There are dozens of expensive offerings at WDW and if you like them, you'll justify paying the price if you can, if you don't, you won't. It really doesn't have much to do with whether the price is ridiculous or not.

To each their own, but I think this will be an impossible ticket to get for a very long time and the price won't cost them a single open room. I'd sure pay this before I'd pay $6k for 7 hrs of running from park to park riding everything as fast as I possibly could. Right now, I'm on the fence just because I'm not sure I want the role playing that I think is key- but my daughter and son in law are ready to book the second they can.

I’m not a Star Wars super fan by any means but with 3 children (all boys) who routinely have lightsaber fights with paper towel rolls, this is something that will be a “we are doing one day”. And yes, we would embrace cosplay even though it’s not our everyday thing. I also look at this as something we’d do INSTEAD of a week long trip and driving 15 hours each way. There are GENERATIONS of Star Wars fans. My kids aren’t yet 10. My FIL is in his 70s. Even if our family decides this is too $$$ the minute my kids are old enough they will spend their own money on it. Disney will have no issue filling this up. And if they are smart, they will put in the Star Wars equivalent of Bibbidy Boppity Boutique on this ship. Just think of how much they could change for May the 4 and Life Day.

Not everyone drinks. Don't make me pay for your booze!
A business which is including adult beverages has an incremental cost of maybe a dollar a drink, probably less. Alcohol used in well drinks, tap beer and bulk wine is relatively cheap.

The difference, guests who pay $ for drinks are subsidizing your experience.

Is the guest who drinks tap water subsidizing the guest who drinks soda, if included? Should you look at the menu cost of soda or the near zero cost to the restaurant?

Vegetarians who order pasta Primavera instead of steak have a similar point.

Here's hoping the alcohol is not just crap, as you suggest.

Hopefully, given the price, people won't just casually do this without doing the research, knowing exactly what you're going to get and knowing if it's right for your family. If your kids aren't super into SW and eager to throw themselves into that for a mere two days, don't go. You'll be saving them (and the rest of the guests who ARE into it) a lot of trouble.

Question about a particular scenario. Without the cost being a factor, for a 10 day Disney vacation, would you do GSC at the start, middle, or end of your trip? I feel like as someone that doesn't live in Florida, if I am flying to Orlando for GSC, I might as well try and get to some other parks while I'm there. But I'm waffling between 1. GSC at the start - pro: get the full LARP experience at the beginning so relax afterwards, plus can use those *special* data bands for the rest of the trip. con: rest of trip might feel lackluster/less immersive in comparison??? 2. GSC at the end - pro: have whole trip to enjoy with GSC to look forward to. con: no more magic after a full immersive experience, abrupt ending to trip. 3. GSC somewhere in the middle - pro: could solve some of the cons from options 1 & 2. con: lots of moving hotels

Oh how I would love to be a fly on the wall in this place to see all the Star Wars geeks who will be partaking in this!:magnify::D
