Storybook Dining at Artist Point Watch Thread!

An hour is fast for any Disney restaurant, especially character dining.

For our part, we were seated at about 4:50pm and had seen all characters, including going up to meet the queen, by 5:38pm. We had our mains at the time but no dessert yet. From there, things stretched out quite a bit, but that was because my kids were eating at a snail's pace. The sever came over a couple times to check on us before I finally had her clear the plates and bring dessert. Had kids been more motivated to eat quickly, I would say we could have been done in 75-90 minutes, but not much faster than that.
Thanks for the reply! 75-90m time frame is okay with us:) think we’ll give it a shot if we can get the ADR!

My family of four did this last night, kids are 8 and 4. I will caveat this by saying we’re frequent WDW visitors and have been there/done that with characters and character meals, so our perspectie is likely skewed a bit.

I thought the overall experience was just so-so. I have no regrets booking it and am very happy we did, but it’s a one and done experience for us. Plus the $200+ price tag for four feels up there (there were 3 adult beverages in that price).

Character interaction was cute. Lighting near our table was pretty bad for pics, so they don’t look so great.

I appreciate the menu - although wonder if some of the more foodie appetizers and entrees won’t make it too long before being replaced with something more middle of the road.

The various songs/dances they do every once in awhile felt forced. Maybe just a low energy dining crowd on this particular night??

The desserts were super cute and I’m glad they were smaller size vs massive portions.

Anyway - don’t really mean to be negative, although I guess it sounds like it. We had fun and enjoyed it. Service was prompt and attentive.

Dining review are always so personal so I hesitate to even post, but FWIW!

So glad :dogdance:to get a Ressie yesterday for our upcoming trip.

2 Questions:
Is there a Photo Pass Opportunity Here with the Queen, like with the Beast a BOG?
and
How good is the Prime Rib? I think the Filet at BOG is great, a lot of people don't. Also, how good is the fish dish, which is probably what my DH will order.

Yes there is a PhotoPass Opp with the Queen. You'll be escorted over to where she is when it's your time to see her.

As for the Prime Rib, from what I'v read (I had the Osso Bucco) it's hit or miss. I've read reviews ranging from amazing to flavorless and tough. Much depends on the grade of meat they are currently purchasing and from where on the Ribeye your cut comes from. If you're not a fan of a fatty ribeye ask for them to bring you a cut from the loin end. It will be much leaner. Personally I like the flavor of the cut from the fattier chuck end.

I’m on the fence now, seeing more and more reviews that list it as “ok” ish.

It’s our final night’s dinner, and I have the dining plan during this time.

Am thinking about canceling and going to a nearby one credit restaurant. Would want to stay close to MK area, as I want to be able to relax on our last night and not spend a lot of time on transport.

Have had and did not love (I know, sorry) Kona cafe and ‘Ohana. I liked the Wave for breakfast, maybe could try dinner there.

As far as Storybook, I like the idea of the decor (ceiling as trees...) and meeting the characters, but I also want good food and it to be a pleasant experience.

I would keep it. I don't put a lot of stock in other reviews as everyone goes in with different expectations. You have the dining plan and its one of the best uses of the 1 credit TS. Try it out for yourself and then decide. I had a great time and really enjoyed my meal. The character interaction was awesome. Do it!

Thanks, yeah, I actually added the dining plan on to a short leg of a split stay specifically for this (and subsequently added a Boma dinner). I appreciate your thoughts and your experience. :) I am over thinking, I believe.

It actually seems like a great use of one credit. Nearby the only other value for one credit would be Ohana.

!

That is exactly why I booked it. I like the options that are somewhat foodie, but not so foodie (or foodie in a way) that there's a good chance my newly minted Disney "adult" will likely try them and maybe even like them. I also really like the theming of the food which seems a step above most of the character dining. It may turn out to be a one and done for us too, but I want to try it before they start moving to more middle of the road food and theming. It's a rare opportunity for us.

I seem to remember when this first opened that the menu was going to change seasonally. Does anyone know if that is true? We have a reservation at the end of May and I was just wondering if I can expect a menu change or not.

According to that thread with supporting pictures the menu has already changed from the one that is on the Disney site. Not sure if it will change again before the end of next month.

I love the changes but talked to my boyfriend he doesn't eat mushroom soup. I wonder if they have an alternative I mean I could eat his and mine but he's a big guy don't want him to have less food lol

I would not cancel. As far as character meals go, this one is among the best. Most are buffet or AYCTE meals, and not cooked to order. It is not the old Artist Point, so you are nto going to get a fine dining experience. You will enjoy a decent meal that you choose and that is served to you. The staff has tried to tailor the beverages so they match teh scene, and the little appetizers and desserts are nice. Sweet desserts, but nice. The WL is an awesome resort to relax in. We started in the lounge which was quiet and a nice place to anticipate dinner. (I love dinner)

The appetizers are served family style in little containers , one for everyone. You could share yours or ask if he can sub for an additional shrimp or something. There is plenty of food, my Paul Bunyan of a hubby left the table satisfied.

They did for our visit in March. We brought the character encyclopedia and the queen had some... things to say about her description.

Thank you!
I was thinking of doing something fun with the Queen's I'm not sure if I'm going to butter her up with flattery or something to cause her much annoyance. :joker:
