i have stayed at POFQ 2 times and i am leaving on monday for my 3rd stay there!!! i cant wait but i LOVE the resort! i am 19 and iam an only child and i go with my parents every year and the resort is VERY quiet and a nice way to get away from all the screaming kids at disney. Not that i am not a big kid at heart :goodvibes: but its just nice to go back to the resort and relax. It is a very small resort so you dont have to travel far to get wher you need to go. I love it there, i would like to stay somewhere else seeing as this is the only place on property i have stayed, but i love this resort!

What can you typically fit in the fridge? Is there a little freezer compartment? I'm hoping to have enough room to fit two half gallon containers of milk and room enough for a few sodas and maybe a block of cheese or container of cream cheese and a quart of yogurt. would this fit? anyone have a picture of your fridge open with what you had inside? (I've just come down off the food porn site and I'm realizing that people take pictures of just about everything :)

Also, I think I remember seeing something about coffee pots in the rooms...do I remember this correctly? and you need to bring your own filters? What kind?

Yes, you should be able to fit two half-gallon cartons of milk in the fridge, and a few other bits. No freezer compartment though. I've seen pics around, but not taken one myself I'm afraid.

There is a coffer maker in the room, with filters and coffee supplied.

There is no way all of that would fit in the fridge at once. Unless you plan to shop off property you will not find a quart of yogurt in the gift shop either. Best bet is to buy one 1/2 gallon of milk and when you need the 2nd one buy it at the gift shop. That way you'll have room for the other stuff in the fridge. But as Andre said there is no freezer and it is no longer possible to turn them up to freeze things from what I've read recently.

okay, good advice. So you can buy a half gallon of milk at the gift shop? I'll just have to buy a few small containers of yogurt at a time. Thanks for the heads up.

Andre, thanks a bunch for your response too. Glad to know everything needed for that am pick me up will be there and ready to go! :thumbsup2

 I think I asked this question before, but cannot remember :confused3

Although we've stayed at FQ several times,we never used the pool and this will be the first time with a 2 yr old.

How is the pool for a 2 yr old? Pop jets? if not, does anyone know if any of the moderates have POP jets for little ones?

Thanks much!!:goodvibes

No pop jets at POFQ. There is a seperate baby pool though that may be more appropriate for a 2 yr old. The main pool came all the way up to my son's neck and he is 8 years old. He loved the slide though!

Thank you! Good to know there is a kiddie pool. :)

Fingers crossed - still hoping rooms will open up for our dates!:goodvibes

I thought the POFQ only had two views - standard and water. I see others talking about a garden view. What view is garden view?

As far as making reservations, POFQ has 3 room categories: standard, king-size bed, and water view.

STandard and water view have sub-categories. You can't book these sub-categories, you can merely request them. A standard room can have a garden view or a parking lot view (I don't know if Disney actually calls it a "parking lot view," but you get the idea). A water view room can have a river view or a pool view (and at some resorts, it can even mean a view of a fountain).

So when you see "garden view," that means a type of standard room.

Thank you for the explanation. I forgot about the king size bed option. We have a standard view booked.

The last time I was there I stayed in a garden view room I was given a room with a view of the fountain. I think more people prefer to stay in buildings 2 or 5 for the pool view or in building 3 or 4 to be close to the bus stop and food court.

We will be at POFQ in October and we can't wait. We haven't been to WDW since our honeymoon in 1998. Kids are super excited and they think we are leaving on a different date than we actually are!!! We love a surprise.
POFQ was our first choice and this thread has convinced me that we made the right choice. Thanks for all the info!

I noticed no one has answered you yet. Nope, I'm not offering to undertake the project, but I did want to let you know how much I have appreciated this thread.

POFQ, Oct. 2007
and maybe again, one day . . . .

We just got back last week from our first disney trip and stayed at POFQ. Loved the resort, the pool, the size of the resort. My only issue were the buses. Leaving the resort, and this may be an issue everywhere, it seems we would get 2 buses in a row for Epoct or DHS and be waiting and waiting for a bus to the park we were going to that day. The bigger issue was leaving the parks, especially at night. The only park it was not an issue from was MK since they have a separate POFQ bus depot. All the other parks share one with Riverside, so the lines are SO long. They really should consdier making a separate bus depot at all the parks or at least park closing, direct for FQ. This woluld also relieve some congestion for those going to Riverside.

But other than that, really enjoyed the stay there and hoping i can go down again next summer.:thumbsup2

I don't mind having a go if people feel a new FAQ thread is now needed. Obviously I've done a lot of the ground work with my research for the www.portorleans.org site - and much of the FAQ info at the start of this thread is fine anyway, it'd just need a bit of tweaking. I guess a new Riverside one might be useful at the same time (with back references to any existing threads of course)?

Let me know what you think, or any comments from Mods would be appreciated too.

Andre

Would love a new POR/FQ FAQ's thread - it defintely needs pulling together (some of the info on the first posts is incorrect) and updating and Andre you would be perfect, if you don't mind taking it on.

Thanks so much to you and edcrbnsoul!

:)
